Single broke mom here who can't thank you enough for this video! I wouldn't have had the confidence to do it if I hadn't seen it done so easily. I did drain the small hose until it stopped but a ton of water still streamed out when I opened the filter so if anyone is trying this maybe a bigger towel underneath would be good, just in case!
This video was perfect! I was gonna go look for my manual and I came to TH-cam instead. Literally perfect video. I'm back up and running and it only took minutes. Even minimal water on the floor. And my wife thinks I should call a professional in times like these. Heck, I know a professional...Dan the Fix it Man! I Venmo'd ya $15. Thanks again!
Your video was awesome! I don’t usually leave reviews; but I had looked at some other videos for Samsung washer with SC error (now I know it is 5C). They were long and wordy; they also seemed to lean towards a hose blockage vs Drain Filter. Your video, a little over 6 minutes solved my issue. Just ran my first load afterwards. Successful! No more error! We have pets, now that I know I will be checking the filter more often. 😊
This video was incredible! You have no idea how much you help others. This would've been an expensive visit from the repair man and it only took 10 minutes to clear. Thank you for making this as easy to understand as it was to do!!
Thanks man! Did the trick. Didn’t go as smooth as you for drying as the tube didn’t get everything out but with some patience and wringing a floor cloth into a bucket, all good now. You’re a real one for putting this info out there!
Thank you. Now I had a blanket that was washing but wouldn’t drain so I followed your instructions and the filter was clogged . I started the process of finishing the rinse/spin . So far so good
Thank you for this video! Your tip to use the water bottle was a lifesaver! I have a drain pan under my washer which made it really hard to drain towards the end of the process... Using the bottle was very helpful! :)
Thanks, I figured this out from my manual, but the manual talks about both a pump filter, which is this one, and a drain filter, but never says where the drain filter is. I believe that this serves both purposes. Thank you!
Woke up early to do some homework, then I noticed the "SC" error. Wife had put a load in there and I opened it and it stunk...like sewage..sure enough- the drain cage had hair, coins, gunk. Thank you for this video. I didn't bother the draining slowly..I just opened the drain cage...and let it all roll on the slope of the garage to the street. 2 minute job. Thanks Dan!!
You are a lifesaver! This just happened to me and I had NO idea what was going on. It has been one of the biggest holidays of the year for the last 2 weeks where I live and very difficult to get a plumber. I was able to fix this on my own!! And yep, I had not idea about this drain function.
Dan thank you .. even being a female from Gen X I thought I was going to have to replace my washing machine I did not know that my filter was down below my washer door. And yup I haven't cleaned it in a year. 😂😂😂😂😂 I also found the spot where you put detergent and softener. Silly me. Thanknyou so very much . Now I feel like less of a silly goof
Very useful video, thank you sir! I got maybe 8 liter of water out from the hose but I found the filter to be clear. not sure what happened but it's back working now!
So far so good. I actually had a small load in when this happened. You made it simple and the savings of time and $$$ is more than appreciated. So grateful!!
Thank you for this easy to follow video. I followed your instructions and my washer is now draining again. The tip with the water bottle made it easy and prevented a big wet mess.
Thank you so much for posting this! While our washer is only a few months old, our pet hair clogged it in record time. I didn’t know about this filter so I will be adding it to my monthly list of maintenance to do around the house.
I was lucky- our Samsung is elevated a bit off the floor, so we could use a small clip to hold the hose in a bucket to drain instead of having to fill and re-empty a smaller bottle. This had everything I needed to know, especially the bit about how the filter re-fit in after cleaning.
Thankyou so much for this video, my washer was blocked in the filter with colour catchers just be aware when you use them. Now my washer is brill again 😉😉
Omg thank you soo much for this video. My washer wasn’t draining and I did the steps in this video and found a hair scarf stuck in the large drain filter!! Washer is good as new now lol never knew about this filter area
I didn't use the little hose to drain the water first. When i removed the drain cover the water got messed up😂 But I all cleaned it now. My question is, are there any motors or electric board below that may get broken from the much water that got out?
Water bottle trick was awesome for when gravity was working against you with a larger pan near the end. I do recommend having towels at the ready if you’re doing this on wood floor!!
My drain filter just keeps clicking when we try to turn it. What are we missing? By the way, looked everywhere before your video helped me relax that we were doing it right, so TY!
No problem, You may need to push it a little bit as you turn it counter-clockwise. Yours may be stuck pretty good...Hopefully you can get it loose. It's a good idea to add some of the silicone grease (link in the description) so it doesn't get stuck again. Best of luck to you. -Dan the Fix it Man
Hey - great video. Can I pick your brains. I came to wash some denim jeans Today and I put about 7 pairs in there. I know how to wash denim I.e Wash, and 3 rinses and No spin at all - as spinning damages denim. It did the rinses but then failed to empty and seemed to enter a "Locked Programme" type scenario - is this a know problem ? Ours is the Samsung Ecobubble 9Kg - I always clean the filter and run a drum clean every 40 washes at 70 degrees. I have since run a normal wash cycle for ordinary fabrics and it has worked perfectly finishing the programme and correctly emptying. Could it be a programme that is never meant to be ? Error on software ?
I knew about this and mine is completely clean but I am still getting this sc code, I can’t really afford to get a repair main out here what can I try next??
I get this error constantly, even though the drain pump filter is clean. When I get this error, I usually turn the machine off and on and then suddenly it works. I think it's more of a computer issue than a filter issue or drain issue, since it works fine after switching it off and on. But it's annoying that it keeeeps happening!!
Yep, pretty gross, but it's working great now! And now the owner knows about this filter and that it needs to be cleaned periodically... Thanks for watching! -Dan the Fix it Man

So if there filters completely clean then what? My washer still refuses to drain and throws a 5C code. I've drained and cleaned exactly as the video shows. The filter wasn't even dirty with only a few small hair tangles but nothing like the one in the video. I've inspected the actual drain tube as well and nothing is blocking the line. Pump issues maybe?
@@clarkdaddy07 actually had a tech come out but he couldn't duplicate the issue (of course). With nothing to diagnose he isn't authorized to open the machine to look unfortunately. He ran a battery of tests and nothing showed a problem. I don't want to jinx anything but after he left the machine has been just fine. No charge for the service call as ours is under extended warranty so maybe see if a tech can diagnose for you. He rattled of a few things it could be but off the top of my head I can't remember. I think something about the impeller on the pump getting snagged and not letting it drain properly. Hope that's some help.

I'm having trouble getting the filter out. You made it seem easy. Is it supposed to be this hard to take it out?
I'm having trouble getting it out as well. Is there a trick to it?
Thank you for helping me . I don’t need to call a repair guy. Saved me some $$ Frfr
Happy to help! Thx for the kind words.
Saved me $2,000 @ Home Depot, thank you!
I did everything instructed in this video and my washer is still not draining 😩
Drain pump
Drain pump 100% if not then computer board is no good.
What to do if the filter is clean and it still doesn't work
What do you do???
You could also check for kinks or clogs in the drain hose.
Thank you very much, i did not know this too, now my washer is draining well.
Thanks! You just saved me a call to our landlord!
you totally just saved me! also oops, I've never cleaned the filter in 5 years...
How did it take you to drain it? My “mop bucket” is almost filled, should I keep going- I’ve had mines about 5 years too.

Thank youuuuuuuuuu
My filter is clean after 2 years of use. Still showing sc code after having to drain it . what's the way to test the pressure switch and drain pump?
just replace the drain pump, les than $30 because they fail so often
It’s worked but I’m having a small leak coming from the front of the filter
You might need to put a small amount of silicone grease/aqualube on the o-ring or replace the o-ring…
I think there are links in the description to both.

Anyone still having issues check the back if the washer fir clogged drain hose. You'll need to remove back panel.
