There is no law preventing people from taking photographs in public.
There is no expectation of privacy in public.
If you are taking photographs from PRIVATE land you need to have the land owners permission. Taking photographs of a person where they can expect privacy, such as inside their home or garden, is likley to cause a breach of privacy laws.
Unless the images which have been taken are indecent, no one has the right to :
Ask the photographer to stop.
Ask / demand a copy of the photos.
Demand / Force a photographer to to delete the photographs.
It is an offense to take indecent photographs. You should report any concerns about someone taking potentially indecent photographs to the Police.
I think you can take them from private land if a public footpath walking through.
Do these rules apply for Scotland too.

Close. You are correct that there is no law stopping the taking of photographs except in a court of people involved in a court case or in a prison, or in top secret military establishments. But on private land you do not need permission to take a picture.
Why?
Because every single bit of the UK is private land. No such thing as public land. What there is public places. Which are on private land. But in a public place, the land owner is very limited in how they can control people who use the land unless they have made very clear conditions of entry. And enforce that rule without exception.
As for taking a picture of someone in their garden, there is no privacy law to protect them. There are laws about voyeurism, but if the person is gardening then the photo won't be sexual in it's nature. Privacy laws are to protect people from the state and corporations, not each other. Societal norms are what protect people from each other.

I reviewed my family vhs holiday video from Spain 🇪🇸 in 1984 and nobody complained about being filmed.
Never in the history of mankind have as many photographs been taken as they are today. It's estimated that 5 billion photographs are taken every singe day around the world or if you want it in seconds, it's 57,000 photos per second. With that in mind it's quite bizarre that some people in 2024 still freak out when they see a camera.

"Prove to me that you're allowed to do it." That's not how the law works in this country. The law doesn't state specific things that you're allowed to do. Where is the law that says explicitly you're allowed to buy a sausage roll? That law doesn't exist. The law only says what is prohibited, so unless Mr C. Butt can find the law that says photography from a public place is prohibited, it's by default allowed.
I think you’ll find that section 5, paragraph 3 of the comestibles and beverages act specifically provides for the purchase and consumption of sausage rolls. 😂

Sealed air refers to when loaded especially with food stuffs to prevent contamination, the chill trailers have curtains inside and can temperature control different section for different food requirements. Doors are often left open when not on use to vent any smells 😊
