I just got a 2018 Forester Premium with Eyesight...this technology is amazing. Last night I had the first real opportunity to test out the adaptive cruise control - I drove home from the Tampa airport via I-4 - I used the adaptive cruise all the way home on the interstate - it worked flawlessly and kept me at a safe distance the entire time including slowing down to almost a stop a couple of times when traffic backed up then resuming to my set speed when the lane was clear - it even immediately adjusted when someone cut in front of me in my lane and then when they moved out again, it resumed back to the set speed....just amazing. The blind spot monitoring and the lane keep assist also worked very well....I only wish the blind spot monitoring system had an audible signal instead of only the light in the mirror but you get used to it quickly....all in all, I would not want to drive a car without this now that I have it....
Good demo guys! I love my Outback 3.6R with EyeSight driving down my 5 mile two lane road to I-5 up here in Tulalip. One other nice thing about EyeSight is if the car in front of you leaves and you don't notice (Stop texting!) it will beep and let you know. Also if EyeSight stops you (hold) and you don't resume in about 3 minutes it will put on the parking brake. I read an article today about a study stating that systems like EyeSight reduce the chance of a fatal crash by over 80%. This is a game changer!
Great demo video! I braved letting my car come to a complete stop for the first time today. Didn't know how to start again. Glad you showed this! My manual says "if equipped" for the reverse detector... How do I know if it is equipped??
The only drawback with subaru's system is that the lane keep assist will disable after 3 times in a honda you can keep it on all day and it will keep correcting your steering
Great video. Thank you for demonstrating the safety feature. That's really cool! Question, at 2:12 you reacted to the person changing lanes and said you must follow the car in front of you. What instead would I expect to see if you didn't change lanes? Second question, how well does the system work in adverse weather such as rain, snow, etc? Thank you!
Great questions, Kirk reacted to the person changing lanes for the demonstration of Adaptive Cruise Control. To show how the adaptive part works, Kirk needed a vehicle directly in front of him. If he were to stay in his lane, the cruise control would have bumped him up to 60mph until another vehicle became in range for the vehicle to adapt to. The Eyesight system woulds in adverse weather, but in some conditions may turn off for safety purposes. The system will let you know that it is disengaged and will also let you know when it comes back on, for your safety.
the eyesight will turn off automatically if conditions arise where it cannot see out of the front cameras...this happened when I was driving nd passed a truck pulling a boat and it was raining pretty good outside...the mist filled up the windshield but the eyesight detected an obscured view and all types of warning lights light up the dash saying that the eyesight was disabled...….I wondered how it would work in a blinding snow storm and I guess this answered it for me...great video
Is there a way to turn off the lane keep assist beep without deactivating the system? It looked like she was driving with no hands and the vehicle was keeping it in the lane without beeping. That would be a nice feature to reduce fatigue on long trips.
Lane keep assist has it's limitations: If you approach a curve in the road the LKA seems to over react and over correct trying to push you into the middle of the road!! Suggest turning it off on winding roads with markers. ALSO why can't the cruise control be allowed to adjust your speed to the speed limit of the area which is showing on the dash.??? ALSO I am having a hard time getting the auto high beam working properly even with the sensitive set to LOW GREAT car though
I'm a year late, but lane keep assist does not work that way. Eyesight is more than smart enough to know if you're going around a curve, and if you're activity turning your steering wheel the LKA will not try to override your input. If your Subaru with EyeSight is doing any of that you need to disable it and take your car into a dealership for diagnostic asap.
If you don't step on the brake pedal to stop, will the brake lights come ON when the cruise control "eyesight" stops the car? If the brake lights don't come on when you let the cruise control stop the car, someone may rear end your car if they are not paying attention.

If you take both hands off of the wheel will it continue to drive the vehicle? (I would imagine only for a short period)

is there a way you can tap into the Subaru eyesight to use it like a dash cam?

what they dont tell you is that lane assist is horrible. It feels like the steering is wandering every few minutes. only thing to do is turn it off
Sweet! Been looking at the '18 Outback and now I'm dying to try that out! Thanks for sharing!
The 2018 Outback is great choice! We are happy to hear that you liked our video :)
Does this eyesight system work the same in all Subaru car that has it? Like for example in a 2018/2019 Crosstrek? Thanks
It would be cool if it beeps when it is going to brake within distance
Is this the same on the 2016 Forester model special education ?

Brake lights do come on when the Eyesight system brakes to slow down or stops the car
The brake lights come on every time the brakes slow the car down, whether you do it or the Eyesite system does it.
I'd like to have the answer to this question as well :)
Yes, the brake lights come on each and every time the brakes are applied, it doesn't matter if the Eyesight System is applying or if you are.
nice.
the older generation does not hold the stop.
