I use the vision aid the one in a blue case I got it from Amazon I also use glasses which I wear at the same time there is a elastic band you can use to hold more securely. It has the light and the same box of lenses. I use the 3.5 cause I work on 32 count, I'm 73. I find when the light is in full power it shines nicely on my stitches, even being under my ott light. I also ordered 3 more 3.5 lenses. I really like mine my son and grandkids laugh at me but what ever works lol

I don't want to burst your bubble, but I don't believe the stretcher bars will work for this project. I tried using them for one of the Mill Hill Nativity pieces, and I found there weren't enough open lines available to stitch the piece. I suggest you count how many rows are needed top to bottom and side to side. Taking the paper off was a challenge, too, to not destroy it. I think the bars would work for a smaller stitched piece that could be centered. I hope that makes sense.

Have a pair! Helps see the cloth great but cannot see my pattern because of removing me glasses! I too, have bifocals! I have some stretcher bars but have not used them! Great video as always!
Those stretcher bars are also good for doing ornaments, when you have a small piece of fabric that won't fit in a hoop! You may end up tapping those tacks in all the way so your thread doesn't get caught on them. Happy stitching!
I have a pair of those magnifying glasses. I don’t really use them anymore. I’ve settled on a Daylight floor lamp with a magnifier. The nose piece on mine was different than yours and was so uncomfortable. I took off the nose piece and started using the headband and they gave me a headache and like you, I couldn’t wear my glasses with them. But I do like those flip ups you have. Those might work well for retreats. Great video!

I did the Red Bird Sampler (Bent Creek) a couple of years ago and love putting it up for the winter when I take all the Santas down. It's just such a pretty piece and I'm sure you'll agree after you stitch yours. You appear to have a lot of stitching in your future. Enjoy!
I have those exact magnifiers but theyre older & require AAAs. Make them a bit heavier. I placed a bit of moleskin on the nose piece. I still use them, but like the USB option better.
The stretcher bars are a great idea for perforated paper. I use larger stretcher bars for my punch needle projects. I also have the same magnifier glasses but like you they do not work well with my glasses. I prefer the magna clips or my Ott Light with magnification.
I tap the tacks all the way down then put tape over the tacks. Your thread won’t catch on the tacks and you can write on the tape, like “top” or mark centers, etc. I use paper tape available from pharmacies in the dressing/ band-aid section.
I’m going to have to order me some of those stretchy bars that looked interesting I’m not sure if I like separating all those dates though can we just throw them all in one thing and hope for the best ha ha have a great day. Love the videos as usual.
I have stretcher bars in sizes from 6" to 28" - I used them extensively for doing crewel embroidery (wool yarn on fabric) projects in the 80's and 90's! Could get a taught surface and did not have to worry about hoop marks on stitching/fabric. Currently have a cross stitch stocking on stretcher bars - but it is in time-out due to being an 18-count navy aida fabric that I am not enjoying working on!
I’ve got some misbehaving stitches in time out too! 😏I need some motivation to complete a few. Do you use a specific tack for the stretcher bars? Can you take them apart and reuse them? I think I’ll start collecting them for some projects but this is my first experience with them.
@@Sarahthenorthwoodsstitcher I use regular thumbtacks - and use a small hammer to put them in and remove them, if needed. Sometimes they break and I just use another one. Yes, I reuse the stretcher bars by taking them apart and reconfiguring in needed lengths - and reuse tacks as needed, too.
I use clip on magnifiers that I purchased several years ago. They are a 4 diopter, and are hard to find. So I am very possessed about where they are. However, my roommate suggested I try #4 reading glasses. She gave me one of her extra pairs, and I love them. However, I had cataract surgery and I have 20/20 distance sight, so the readers are great for stitching. Great video.

I do not sort the beads right away. I pick the ones i need while stitching. I put beads from each packet in little plates or sticky mat, usually beads are easily distinguished inside a packet. I sort leftovers befor put to my storage. This way i can save a lot of time
I have little bead containers that I sort them into then label so I can order more to make extra projects. I’ll have to show this in a video…I have a few😂
I hope you make a video taking the thumb tacks out. I had a horrible time trying not to tear the paper, so I'm back to stitching paper projects in hand. Love your videos!! (a measuring tape or ruler makes finding the center very quick and simple.)
Hi Sarah! So exciting to see we are doing a bucket dive again this week. I agree with you about the Goodwill prices and it seems, at least here in Texas, that they are going more toward buying overstock items instead of donation items and the prices are higher. Sometimes their prices, on clothing at least, are higher than Walmart. Since I have lost so much weight, I am having to buy all new clothes and they are so ridiculously expensive. Thanks for a wonderful floss tube again. Sorting all those left out beads does not sound like much fun, but definitely sounds better than mowing lawn in the heat and humidity. I tried the stretcher bars for Mill Hill kits and don't like them at all personally, but hope they work out for you. Take care and happy stitching.
Oh how I long for winter again! Less outdoor work and more stitch time! Thrift stores are struggling with utilities increasing but I can’t pay more for used items than I would at Walmart or yard sales. It’s been a real hunt lately 😒

This has a border of open lines around the stitch area so it should work😃
I had the same issue….couldn’t get to the stitches near the edge if the paper. I was bummed since it seemed like the perfect solution.

I have them and they really hurt my nose. I don't like them much.
Did you try with or without the nose pads?
I found I could slightly bend the nose piece to make it more comfy
I have these and it hurts my head and too heavy for my nose . Hardly use them at all
Are they battery or usb? These are usb only and feel really light but I haven’t used for very long
