BROTHER!! This is by far one of the highest quality videos I’ve watched. The details and instructions were spot on! You definitely deserve more followers! I couldn’t hit that sub button fast enough! Thanks for the video!!
Great Video !! I'm NEW to Fishing / Catfishing too .. The way you explain how to tie the knots are Amazing !! I kinda miss up on my first knot But I always get the second one Right !! Thanks So much !!
Tip: tie hook first. Then tie swivel to leader. Then tie swivel to the main. Tada! 😂 all knots are the same! Good video though! Definitely worth the sub!
Yeah that’s how I tie it in the real world, which is what I should’ve done for the video. At the time, my thought was show how multiple knots can be tied. When the time comes to redo this video, it’s going to be all palomar knots. Except for the hook. I almost always snell circle hooks.
I like to use the polymer knot too. If you tie the leader to the swivel first then you can tie the swivel to the main line and tie the hook last.. Polymer knots for everybody!
@@kevinwhitworth1775 u can if u go through the hook and follow his first knot but go around the hook a few times it smells it that way to I hope this helps
@@kevinwhitworth1775 you can. You just drop the leader and hook through the over hand loop. That way a its a Palomar on both ends of swivel and no knot snell on hook. Its how I always do it.
Got these thinking they were the slightly larger Panfish floats th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rJB7cli5f1ofPVGgn80S7Yj4vqwq0gU they work just fine. The smaller size lets me carry more in my tackle box, and the 3 color choices are nice for different lighting conditions, backgrounds, etc. They aren't the most durable things in the world. But, as cheap as they are, it's not heartbreaking to lose one or have to replace a worn one. The price on these fluctuates wildly, from about $9 to almost $16. So, time your buy accordingly.
Knots are breaking points. Use a rubber stopper to avoid the first knot (top knot). Use braid to dispense with the leader. A rod with slow action can make up for the lack of line stretch.
I’ve never had a problem as long as I take the tag end through the loop made after going through bottom loop. That being said I almost always use a palomar knot.
Another catfish video idea (if you haven’t done so already): techniques you use to help keep the catfish bait on the hook when casting. In my limited experience so far, I seem to have better luck catapulting the bait into the lake instead of keeping it on the hook.
Yes, we’ll definitely produce videos about that. Especially for chicken livers. If done right, those things usually only last one maybe two casts but if baited with cheesecloth, it keeps them on the hook much longer. I shot a video last year about making hot dogs tougher by microwaving them. Here’s a link to that one if you haven’t seen it yet: th-cam.com/video/2qw3jNNNuOQ/w-d-xo.html
My father in law does that, too. He’s new to fishing and I told him to keep his wrist and arm straight, while casting more from the side than over handed so the end of the rod doesn’t snap so hard tossing the bait. Easier to show than to describe. I hope that helps. Over time you’ll get a feel for what you can get away with and still keep the bait.
You can use a polomar knot on both ends of the swivel if you tie the hook to the leader, then the leader to the barrel swivel, before tying the main line to the swivel.
Make sure the line isn’t curled or has kinks in it. Cut the end with a knife so the tip is as thin as possible. Cutting the end with a pair of pliers can flatten the tip making it more difficult to thread. As you thread the line through, twist it between your fingers until it pops out the other side. Hope this helps.
Nice job. I subbed. Shocked u only have 1K, u will have more. But a quick suggestion.... U are dealin with a short attention span audience, so how more of the end result, the rig, from the beginning. Get people into it. Then talk about it more after the tutorial. But u did a great job, ill check out your other vids.
You have to run the tag end through the loop that’s created after running the tag end through the loop at the bottom of the knot. Otherwise the knot will slip like that.
cut your leader so it’s shorter than the length of your float. If you want a easy one to see at night take a led diode and a watch battery. Sliding the battery in between the legs of the diode and then electrical taping them together and then just tape it to the top of the slip bobber. Lasts up to 20 hours, just untape it all and let it dry separated after each use.
Tough for me to say without seeing it. Occasionally, my rig will get tangled on a cast. Not sure what causes it other than a bit of bad luck. However, you’re not the only one who’s brought this up to me. I’m going to make a video exploring why this happens and what can be done to prevent it.
@@ShowMetheHawgs I've been fishing a river with a mild to decent current. Lots of big rocks and brush. U think a setup like this would stay still? Or take off in the mild current
It will flow with the current. Not stay in one place but if you can get the bait down in the water column as it passes over structure, you might be able to draw cats out without risking snags. The rig will likely settle down wherever the current seam is. Also, this rig can work great in an eddy. The river will suck the rig into the eddy and will hold it there. Cats will sit in those eddies waiting for food to get sucked into it.

If I don’t have the luxury of electronics or am bank fishing with no idea of the depth, sometimes I’ll put a sinker on with a bobber or crushed water bottle on the end of the line. I’ll cast that out, let it sink to the bottom, set the drag loose, and one stroke at a time pull line from the top of the reel to the bottom guide. I’ll keep count of how many time I do that until I see the bobber or water bottle. When I see it, I’ll multiply the number of times I pulled line out with the distance from my reel to the bottom guide. Then I’ll have a rough idea of where I want to set my bobber stop on the line. I know it’s a bit of a long explanation but I hope that helps.

I think this rig is best for ponds or pay lakes. Anything with a decent current i fish the bottom
Agreed. My best results in this rig are in lakes and such. I use Carolinas in swifter currents.
How do you adjust the depth of it on the fly? Do you have to cut the braid off and retie?
slip bobber rig you just slide it up some or down and it goes through the eyes no problem as long as it's decently tight
So even if it’s tied like this, what could be a reason that I continuously have it tangling or tying around while it’s out in the water

I've lost my biggest catfish using Bobber both channel cats over 30 lbs
What oz sinker
Depends on the float but most of the time I use 1/2oz sinkers. Just enough it will get the bait down but not submerge the float.
Once it gets wet the not movies, so what I did was tied a knot on it.
Sometimes, after tying the stop knot, I’ll use the excess tag ends to tie a double overhand knot to get it extra tight to the line.
Easy to sell when you are over a stocked pond .
Oh you got me. I’m just a snake oil salesman. 🙄
