    Very good helpful video for me. I enjoyed the video. Awesome simple instructions how to make rigs. I normally fish from the banks

    Over my 61 years I've caught thousands of cats with a simple suspended bait rig. Still outperforms santee and all I've tried. However i find the santee rig gets better quality fish. So I've been using it religiously. The most important thing is im having fun with all the variables and still killing it.

    If ur hook like is half the length of ur weight line on a 3 way set up it doesn't tangle near as bad

    Using 50 lbs leaders to the hook is crazy. I troll Beaver Lake for stripers and use 20 lb mono. I use 17 lb mono for leaders, as I can’t break 20 lb. I have to wrap my whole arm 4-5 times and pull like the dickens. Using 50 lb line I’d have to cut it, which I hate. Thirty to forty pound stripers will swim up 50’ to grab a bait. Best to change their mind before they head back to the top of submerged tree tops. Sixty four lb 8 oz striper was caught at Beaver in March of 99.

      I run 80lb test to the hook

      Depending on the situation, i can break it, but i only do that if its stuck in a tree lol

    Thanks for the tips, looking to get into it soon. Will all of these work for inshore live bait?

      Yes, my main line is braid. I prefer braid when fishing from a boat.

    What's your go to brand/weight capacity of 3 way swivel? Tight lines.

      I use a bunch of different types I just try to find something that is rated 80lbs or more. In my opinion anything greater than 50 is fine.

      I think the pack I last bought was from academy.

      Agreed. The eagle claw brass swivels are the largest ones wally world carries but dont specify the weight.

      Andrew Burress as long as you don’t horse the fish in you will be fine.

    what if I am fishing from the banks and the average catfish size is about 12" - - - just seems to me all of these would be way to large ..

    • @downriverfishing3639
      @downriverfishing3639  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use any of these rigs from the bank. If you're catching smaller catfish then just downsize your gear. I've used these rigs for all kinds of fish and the size of my tackle is determined by the size of fish I am targeting. Our cats can get pretty big so I use big tackle.

    Why did you stop making videos??

      I just kinda got into a bunch of new stuff and have been spending time learning. I've found a new love for hunting, and I'm also thinking about picking up a fly rod. I always enjoyed making the videos and hopefully one day I will pick it back up.

      @Down River Fishing I hear you....Im a passionate bow hunter and love fishing as well. I finally picked up a gopro Hero 9 and hope to get some new stuff out this year. I made a bunch of those dragging weights from your video but I went to a slightly bigger heat shrink that really shrinks up well. Appriciate the info.....Hope you get back into the catfishing videos!!
