      This always makes my Sundays better.
      How does, Grim adjust..
      I have had 10 dogs 6 cats and all bar 1 dog and 1 cat have huge issues when in UK clocks go forward and back by a hour and during summer light mornings.
      I try to keep their routine on time but that hour change sends them all loopy for a good few weeks 🤦‍♀️
      I would definitely be a Polar Night person even a tiny charging light annoys me as love the dark but Midnight Sun beautiful in it's own way.

    As a Canadian follower, I will validate that Schitt's Creek is hysterical. The humour is not as dry as Nordic, nor as dark as English nor as slapstick as American; see I have offended everyone else in one sentence. Sorry. Thanks for your videos and I'll look for you when we visit Svalbard in a month!

    • @safe-keeper1042
      @safe-keeper1042 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      It's a TH-cam channel. She shows the side of herself and her life that she wants you to see. Enjoy it and allow yourself to be inspired by it all you want, but remember that all social media might as well be fiction in how much control the creators have over their content (not fiction as in content being made up, but in the overall impression --you don't see the dark or bored days, fights and arguments, or downturns that are part of everyone's lives, for example).

      There are two months between first sunrise and the polar day. Given the fact that the last two weeks, the night is so short and bright, it may even feel like 1,5 months between first sunrise and the day all the time. It's crazy how fast it goes up there.

    • @michadybczak4862
      @michadybczak4862 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@ceezee9179 He has a point. Such channels are selling a dream. Of course, they have issues, health problems and are not happy all the time, but some people do have a positive attitude most of the time and Cecilia says she does have it. I believe her, but I'm still aware that is not the whole picture, but it doesn't matter. Some private things should stay private.

    • @katelijnesommen
      @katelijnesommen ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@safe-keeper1042 I mean this is very true, and I feel like Cecilia is quite open about less positive experiences; she talked extensively about her mental health issues during the polar night before this one. She was very anxious and didn't feel good at all. So I feel she doesn't actually hide those parts of life. Although I'm sure we don't see all of it and that's healthy, she should have boundaries! In general I absolutely believe that she's very authentically herself in her videos and that she's currently in a good place mentally. That we don't see every detail doesn't invalidate that.

    My mom worked at a cannery halfway out the Aleutian Islands as a young woman, and she said polar day was way harder than polar night --that somehow, trying to sleep in full daylight was worse than trying to wake up in total darkness. Even with the curtains fully shut, knowing that it was still broad daylight outside had a weird psychological effect that made falling asleep surprisingly difficult. Watching your videos, I can see why.

    • @shadelings
      @shadelings ปีที่แล้ว +16

      I've only experienced polar day when on a family vacation in Alaska during the summer and it is such a weird feeling because when the sun is still high up in the sky at night time, you don't feel tired at all and you literally have to force yourself to go to bed.

      I will never understand how my mom worked the night shift hours for 35 years! I worked it for 5 and just couldn’t get a handle on sleeping during the daylight hours. My body was showing the effects of not being able to properly rest. Going to work in the dark and leaving with the sun coming up made it very difficult to function properly. It’s like I would instantly “rise and shine”. 😂 Wouldn’t be able to sleep during the day but around 8 pm get so tired only to have to be to work again in a few hours. Horrible working hours… 🥴

      My goodness, I work 6 seasons in the canneries too. Thank for sharing!!! Grew up on the Kenai Peninsula. Annnddd I have done it all…slime line, freeze crew, the docks, a eggbert! Lol We work all hours day & night. Longest shift I work was 36 hours, slept 4, came back and worked another 24 hour shift, but usually a least 12 shift was expected. When the fish are in …we work. Ohh boy to be young again!! Lol But honestly this was the start of my sleeping issues. Plus living in AK the land midnight sun. lol So I applied Black out rolled sheeting in master room only. This made a huge difference for me. Hug to all🙏❤️

    To try to sleep better at night, it is an idea to make everything in the house as dark as possible so that you simulate a pleasant "evening". We close the curtains in the living room in the summer because we love candles (we don't have a fireplace).

    I’ve been keeping tabs on Longyearbyen's weather forecast, and you have much sunnier and drier weather than we have in the Central Europe lately. For the next 9 days we have just 1 day with sun, 2 days without rain, the rest will be gloomy and wet. That's the norm since 2-3 months now. Today was a sunny day, 20 degrees. The last sunny day was on the beginning of March, so two months ago! At this point, I don't care about temperature, I want sun, even with -15, so the whole day or even few days with almost no wind and sun all the time, sounds wonderful.

    Whenever I hate everything about my life......I watch one of these videos and instantly know that I am really lucky with where I live and how I live. While this might be a dream for many people I personally actually feel like I can not even breathe right just by seeing the cold, the ice, the snow and the darkness.

    When you panned out with your drone shot in the valley, I gasped. It's so stunning there! You truly live in paradise!

    SCHITTS CREEK...YES! As a 🇨🇦 myself, I am SO proud of this little show "that could". It's a wonderful character-based comedy...and in case you're wondering, Moira's accent is CONPLETELY made up by the brilliant Catherine O'Hara. It's like her character went to drama school and learned this mid-Atlantic half/British thing and she just kept it for life. The family says nothing becoz...that's just how Mom talks. Hold out for season 3 when David's love interest Patrick shows up. (This was about the time it hit HUGE in the UK and elsewhere as the global gayz FELL IN LOVE with Patrick.) Truly, relationship goals. Oh, and you'll never hear the phrase "Ew, David" the same way again. ENJOY!

    "It makes you less productive." I have no idea how that works, but it's the same for me and my friend. My hobby is writing stories and when it's sunny outside, I can't make any writing done. I currently have curtains only in my bed, so I shave to go there, and then i can focus with only curtains closed. Same for my friend. Like, I'm almost more productive when it's foggy. Don't get me started on sleeping when the nights are 'white'. Also, I am so envious of your fireplace. It's a dream of mine. I love the sound of fire and wood cracking, and the smell of it, and the WARMTH of it. Not a single heated can achieve what an actual fireplace can.

    hello from America. I have a similar problem in June July and August when the sun sets very late in the day.
    The advice I have heard about hiding from the summer sun so that you can sleep is [ get black colored curtains made from a very thick fabric and hang them in the bedroom on every single one of the windows ].
    You want the bedroom as dark as possible when you are sleeping.

    I have the same view, only sand instead of snow and it's 86 degrees. It get dark here at 6pm and light at 5am everyday of the year. We are about 10 degrees from the Equator.
    We also ski, but it is in the always warm ocean. No snowmobile, but a nifty golfcart.
    We don't sit in an ice bath, just the pool, but an ice bath would sure feel good right now.
    Hmmmm
    Well, your video has cooled me off so time for some more coffee.
    I think you were born to do videos, you are so good at it.
    Well, goodbye from Costa Rica, I hope Grim feels better.

    Last time I was in Sweden, I was in Gothenburg and Stockholm in late May a few years ago. I noticed that I did not get enough sleep because I'm not used to it staying light for so long. I think it affected me more than I realized, because I got sick when I got home. I like the daylight we get where I live in New Hampshire, but I also have no problems with the dark.
