So they are upset because of the ANC not living up to their promises, but then they get angry because Zuma has been jailed, even though he is one of the main causes of their present situation.

One of the saddest aspects of this political situation is that the African people, the Zulus will support and stick up for their leaders people like Zuma but they never realise those leaders don't give a damn about them. The people remain where they are; poor, desperate, uneducated and they gain nothing. Even worse than not gaining anything, they lose what little they may have. Then again when you have nothing, you have nothing to lose. Hopefully justice will prevail.

Interesting. They didnt burn the malls and shops in Gauteng, just looted. But burned almost every single shop owned by Indians in KZN. And government didn't afford any protection to those. And stop blaming apartheid and poverty for this criminality. No more excuses.

People destroying their own country and sowing the seeds of their own demise.. if you can't eat then get together with your community and start growing food. looting will only make the pandemic worse and the food security situation worse for everyone.
I fell sorry for the elderly and the small children who weren't involved in the looting but will end up suffering the most because of it.
I also feel sorry for the farmers who are growing food to feed the people but who will also most likely be blamed for the economic crisis just so that looters can take their land like what happened in Zimbabwe.

There are many projects like what you are talking about. Many communities are lifting themselves out of poverty. As some communities are still fighting the insurrectionist, they are rebuilding already. Radical elements tried and failed to force a change in leadership, leadership that is rebuilding after 9 wasted years under Zuma. This is a patronage network - built during the previous administration- realising the justice system is closing in on them. So they are staging an insurrection by exploiting the poor. But the insurrection is failing because too many South Africans are standing up and saying no. A country that is heading for a demise will not show a steady improvement in its currency, capital inflows days into an insurrection.

A lot of Africas problems are cultural. It's impossible in large parts of Africa to save and invest. Malawi is an excellent test case. They had a famine and the government handed out (at no expense to the farmer) NPK fertilizer; and against the wishes of European greentards; the next year they had massive crop surplusses and exported food. The year after that they did not hand out fertilizer and no farmers saved money and invested in NPK fertilizer. Why? Well if you have money and your family needs money, you can't say "no no no; I need to invest this in fertilizer next year", you will get completely disowned if you don't do whatever short-sighted nonsense your family needs. So what was the money spent on? It was largely spent on hookers and booze, because if you blow the money away as quickly as possible you can capture the whole benefit without giving anything to your family and when they say "we need ", you can't, you don't have any money.
Large parts of Africa are *that* culturally retarded and it's not fixable from the outside. They have to want to do it themselves or nothing will change.

@Jak świat się kręci. We follow international norms and standards. We have to do so more stringently than developed nations since our credit ratings are not as good. For government and firms to secure funding from international financial institutions a higher level of transparency needs to afforded.
On your second point you are right (although right now things are looking very peachy for mineral exports, thats one of the reasons why the ZAR Rand has not seen a knock form this insurrection). The South African formal economy grows steadily, but structural problems in the economy (lack of certain skills) is causing bottlenecks. We simply can't train enough engineers etc to keep up with demand. But there is money to attract these skills from abroad. The public schooling system has not been able to produce high enough levels in STEM, but low-fee private schools are quickly turning things around. There are plenty of people who work hard, especially when the renumeration is proper. When employers are unwilling to pay a living wage and then complain about productivity it's not difficult to see where the problem is.
