Any faithful Catholic that truly loves the church knows that we’re living in really difficult times our church is going through really horrible times,, we should pray for our pope our church leaders for the repentance and conversion,, of course, in the midst of all this craziness, we don’t leave Christ because of Judas we stay we fight living in the state of Grace and asking for our blessed mothers intercession,,

What an awesome commentary to prepare for Sunday's mass. I also enjoy Dr Bergsma's book, "The Word of the Lord", which is his commentary for each Sunday's readings.

It’s a bit sad though that Dr. Bergsma has stopped reading his books for us in the form of videos. Too much work I guess. And it has been overridden by this series. But yeah, I like this books.

    Amazing! Greetings from the Philippines.
I'm sharing this video to participants of our Catholic Bible Study.
We understand these scholars much better when we Catholics (usually New Testament Christians) are also grounded on the Old Testament.

Very informative. It sure would be nice if we catholics would have only one translation of the bible to read; and thereby citing scripture verses would be as it once was, the same for everyone, unlike today with every approved translation reading differently, which leads to the faithful not memorizing scripture.

I just looked up "binding and loosing" in the Jewish Encyclopedia as suggested, but it says those words relate to cursing and blessing (or forgiving and not forgiving sins in the NT). It said nothing about authority, sole or otherwise, for interpretation.
    In Christ,
    Andrew

I don’t know about that particular Jewish encyclopedia. But Aramaic biblical scholar George Lamsa writes of binding and loosing:“ ‘He has the key,’ means he can declare certain things to be lawful and others unlawful; that is to bind or to loose, or to prohibit or to permit, or to forgive” (Old Testament Light [San Francisco: Harper & Row, 1964], 657). William Barclay informs us that “To loose and bind were very common Jewish phrases. They were used especially of the decisions of the great teachers and the great Rabbis. Their regular sense which any Jew would recognize was to allow and to forbid. To bind something was to declare it forbidden; to loose was to declare it allowed. These were the regular phrases for taking decisions in regard to the law. That is in fact the only thing these phrases in such a context would mean” (The Gospel of Matthew [Philadelphia: Westminster Press, 1975], 2: 145-46)

😲 Brothers, as a fellow convert I'm surprised you have an empty cross on the wall behind Dr. Hahn. Yes, I know it points to the Resurrection, but we worship three persons-in-one God rather than an event. Let your conversion to the Kingdom go deeper, and practice orthodoxy through iconography, as well as in your words.
    ---
    The Incarnate One
The windless northern surge, the sea-gull's scream,
And Calvin's kirk crowning the barren brae.
I think of Giotto the Tuscan shepherd's dream,
Christ, man and creature in their inner day.
    How could our race betray
The Image, and the Incarnate One unmake
Who chose this form and fashion for our sake?
The Word made flesh here is made word again
A word made word in flourish and arrogant crook.
See there King Calvin with his iron pen,
And God three angry letters in a book,
    And there the logical hook
On which the Mystery is impaled and bent
    Into an ideological argument.
There's better gospel in man's natural tongue,
And truer sight was theirs outside the Law
Who saw the far side of the Cross among
The archaic peoples in their ancient awe,
    In ignorant wonder saw
The wooden cross-tree on the bare hillside,
Not knowing that there a God suffered and died.
The fleshless word, growing, will bring us down,
Pagan and Christian man alike will fall,
The auguries say, the white and black and brown,
The merry and the sad, theorist, lover, all
    Invisibly will fall:
Abstract calamity, save for those who can
Build their cold empire on the abstract man.
A soft breeze stirs and all my thoughts are blown
Far out to sea and lost. Yet I know well
The bloodless word will battle for its own
Invisibly in brain and nerve and cell.
    The generations tell
Their personal tale: the One has far to go
Past the mirages and the murdering snow.
    Edwin Muir

Word of god has every religion. But world is everything momenttory changes. The forms are impermanence.nothig to do any kind of god. But I respect your greed. You are the architect of your own destiny. Blind believe in authority is the greatest enemy of the truth. Really no knowledge. 🇨🇳🙏📢🌍

There's no one circumcised guy in here. Not one. Explain that to me and make sense.

Baptism replaces circumcision as the rite of entry into the New Covenant.
