    At the end of Kick-Ass 3 you see how all of these connect. Secret Service, MPH and Nemesis are all referenced as taking place at the end. Jupiter's Legacy and Supercrooks are movies showing up on cinemas and Superior is on theaters. The kid Dave opens the door for in the theater is the main character from Superior, like a symbolic passing of the torch. Millar explained how it all fits together. Jupiter's Legacy and Supercrooks take place on the same world but are fictional on the main one, but The Utopian is the one character who actually existed previous to 1986 and the red cape showing in Wanted belonged to him.

      Hey thanks for this and for watching! I touch on what you’ve mentioned here in my latest video. I remember when first reading Jupiter’s Legacy wondering if the cape in Wanted belonged to Utopian. Really excited to see it all tied together in Big Game.

      @@comixchill6332 look it up on google. Mark actually explained all of this when the end of Kick-Ass 3 came out!

    I remember loving nemesis as a kid but i recently went back and re-read it with the reboot and i have to agree with you. I do appreciate how ridiculous nemesis is (the booby traped womb) and the parody of the "batgod" concept but it just didnt click with me. I couldnt really get into the new one either. Love the art for both tho

      I like the ridiculousness of it too, I don’t mind how over the top and gross it can be but wish it had the intricacy of a Snyder Bat book or something like that (the first volume felt like Millar was making it up as he went along and never did a second draft.) The reboot had a bit more to it. For example, I liked seeing things like the subplot of how the airline pilot was ensnared in Nemesis’ plan and a bit more of his own past, but still feel it could have gone deeper, probably benefiting from a longer run, but perhaps we’ll get more of that in Big Game. I do wonder how the reboot would have held up on its own, were it not tied to Wanted and Big Game. The art was phenomenal, though.

      @@comixchill6332 I feel that way about most millar books. I really enjoy them but they could use another issue or two. I also never even thought about them being in the same "universe" so my mind was blown at the end of the new nemesis

    what’s your theory about kick ass taking place in the other millarworld books since the big game will tie all of them together? 🤔

    • @comixchill6332
      @comixchill6332  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey, thanks for watching! From what I’ve gathered, the Millarworld Universe is actually split into two with Kick-Ass taking place in the ‘real world’ and things like Jupiter’s Legacy and Super Crooks being comics and movies etc within that real world, so just entertainment for Dave Lizewski and his friends. However those super heroes in Jupiter’s Legacy were once real and destroyed by the villain fraternity in Wanted. I mention it in my latest video towards the end :)

    I watched Kick-Ass the movie and it was great. I read the Comic book and it was Crap. Mark Millar never takes his time to tell a story. It's just shocking moment after shocking moment. This is in most of Millar books, he doesn't take his time to tell a story, he doesn't allow his characters to breathe, it's just shock factors to make us think something huge has happened instead of showing us. Mark Millar writes with a Jackhammer not a pen.

      I hear what you’re saying. What makes it frustrating is that sometimes he does nail it and it shows that he can do it. Magic Order is a recent series of his I read, all four volumes, where I felt he had put the time in. Then there are books like Chrononauts, Prodigy and Reborn… I actually preferred the Kick-Ass comic to the movie (only the first volume), but it’s been a long time since I saw the flick. I read it first so was pumped for the film but remember being disappointed in the theatre.

    Yeah, the end of K-A 3 reveals some hints as to how a bunch of Millarworld comics are connected.
    I often read reviews/comments of people who dislike Millar. I can see how if someone read Unfunnies, Wanted, and Nemesis back-to-back-to-back, yeah, they would probably only view Millar in 1 light. But he has written a vast variety of books, some of which are more optimistic and light-hearted than others. Nowadays, I think his writing is less edgy, either to reach a broader audience, to fit in with the modern times, or maybe he's just not that sort of writer anymore, but I do hope people give his other books a chance.
    One thing I disliked about Nemesis Reloaded was that it made Nemesis a slightly sympathetic character, since his parents died, and he wants revenge. The first Nemesis was just a guy who was evil for no reason, except that he was rich and bored. However, maybe the new Nemesis is sympathetic as a way for him to have a redemption arc in BIG GAME and go from being a bad guy to a good guy...

      I pretty much said the exact same thing in the end of my most recent video (Millarworld Part 3), after Kick-Ass 3 Millar seemed to leave his more cynical side behind for a more hopeful and optimistic celebration of Golden Age type stuff. I’m really, REALLY looking forward to reviewing those books. Jupiter’s Legacy and Starlight are both fantastic.

    Yeah, I just read Ultimates 1 and 2, and sending the Ultimates into other countries was definitely an issue they were leading up to... instead of the Ultimates 3 and Ultimatum we eventually did get. I just assumed that other writers dealt with that issue. I haven't read Millar's other "The Ultimates" comics he wrote later.

    • @comixchill6332

      His later Ultimates books are fun but not as “real world” as the initial books with Hitch. It’s more like Millar playing with action figures. The first arc with gorgeous Carlos Pacheco art introduces the Ultimate version of the Red Skull and it’s pretty crazy!

    I agree with you about Nemesis. Very much a shock value book but, the plot is very shallow. I think it is an essential read because of the connection to Big Game and I think the sequel series was better. Loved Superior as well.
