  • Can you really put a price on a good night's sleep? I did my own experiment to learn how to improve my sleep over three weeks. I tried everything from a meditation app, to $200 massaging goggles, to a $2,500 infrared sauna. And it worked.

Thanks so much for watching! Curious to know if you’ve tried any sleep tech and if it works?

    So what did we learn?
Sleep trackers don't provide any usable data, and they contradict real medical tests.
The placebo effect is much more potent than you realize.
The traditional advice given to improve sleep like, consistency and fully darkening a room, actually work.
    Dogs like fancy pillows.
    Thanks!!!

That's an amazing video, I did that sleeping night test in the clinic, It looks exactly like that with the oxygen tube and all. My Galaxy watch usually gives me a good score but I was usually tired in the morning. The test pointed out that I usually have more than 100 episodes that wake me up during the night. And that's not a horrible result, but explain some things.

When I was in my mid 30s, I purchased a waterbed from someone. They were leaving the apartment as I was moving in. I really loved it and I’m beginning to think I should get myself another one if I can because that was the best to sleep on

Cool video thanks. Any imagine how much that sleep study would cost even with insurance.
As you get older your sleep will get worse on average. Mine has.

    Congratulations on being a mom,
I guess sleep apnea and leg twitching is the main problem why our sleep could be broken.

I'm the meditation, book, tv show guy. I'm definitely sinning by not having a set wakeup time. While working I can always find things to start working on if I wake up early. Though, I'm two weeks to retirement. I'll try coming up with a target wakeup time and once I don't have to worry about work tasks. I'll try starting from wakeup time and working backwards. My Garmin Fenix 7 tells me my sleep time so I can take a running average and work backwards. Thanks for making the video Lexy.

Yeah, sleep apnea is no joke. Eventually you probably will want to investigate the possibility of a Cpap machine. (Just stay away from Phillips brand - Resmed is probably the best.) I started feeling better almost immediately when I started using mine, and it didn't take long to get used to.

Excellent presentation and production Lexy. A lot of hard work went into this video. Only problem is with Dr Paleo's recommendation that you seek management from "your doctor"!. Is he kidding us. He's supposed to be an world expert in sleep apnea so he should have the best knowledge to explaun the study's results and meaning as well as recommend treatment. Unbelievable excuse for a man supposedly best in the world. We refer many patients for sleep studies and it has always been the role of the sleep physician to explain the results and recommend treatment alternatives. Truly unprofessional and unbelievable!

Adjusting the amount of sleep could be worth trying. Some humans need less or more than 8 hours

Sleep is probably most affected by diet and lifestyle. Thinking an expensive gadget will fix your problems is a terrible decision.

That study would have cost thousands of dollars out of pocket and they just say to talk to your doctor... Arent you paying for the specialist? Not much help. Ive had bad experiences with sleep issues and trying to find solutions - so far Im convinced the industry is a bit of a pseudoscience cash grab.

Cheaper than waking everyday with a terrible headache, having palpitations, feeling listless, depressed, developing uncontrolled high blood pressure and worse having a stroke or heart attack. These are just some of the complications of having undetected sleep apnea, a very common problem in mostly the 'developed' nations. A great video.

  • @Quitenseny

This video tries to do everything and at the end is pointless… what products are worth buying? Ok so everyone needs a proper sleep study and no gadgets? Then what’s the point of this video??
