    It's definitely worth mentioning that these model club displays are there just for the public to see. There is no judging for contests like IPMS, GWC, etc. No people trying to sell their finished models. They are there for the camaraderie and the fun of sharing their hobby, so the atmosphere is great. And it's great seeing some of the models evolve over the years. That Nausicaa corvette model was displayed as a block of wood 15 years ago.

    Hey Ellie, ya I totally agree. The modelers section is by far the best part of the Shizo hobby show. Thank you so much for the tour and your insightful voiceover narration. There are lots of great model shows in the US too, but you definitely have to travel and they are kind of hard to find and not marketed very well! I'd recommend checking out some IPMS events or maybe even small exhibitions at anime cons! I know the feeling of being at a tiny show though!

Sadly the manufacturer is gone, but I don’t know if someone else picked up the molds. It was a huge series and featured a lot of kits. The design is by an illustrator of comics.

I curious about these Modeler's, were they Invited or selected to show their works or can anybody show at Shizuoka ? Every Build was Superb Craftsmanship.

    • @pixxellie
      @pixxellie  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      yes that building was crazy impressive!!! I think anyone can sign up to show their work! It was a lot of small modelers clubs that had their own tables.

    • @stevethefishdotnet
      @stevethefishdotnet 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hey Franco, the private exhibition hall is only open during the days that are open to the public. These are all individual and group exhibitors. I'm not sure how they apply for tables to set up their works, but I imagine it's through the website. The nice thing is that there is NO competition in this exhibition. It's all just a celebration of the hobby. No manbabies stamping about in temper tantrums because they failed to get a prize. The level of unique inspiration and innovation on display at the Shizz show far surpasses any IPMS show in America, with rows and rows of models painted exactly as they are supposed to be painted. The only event that comes close to this level of creativity is the Wonder Fest in Kentucky, which was just last weekend, I think.

    Thanks for sharing! I used to cover the Shizuoka Hobby Show every year on my channel when I used to live in Shizuoka Prefecture. The last time I was there was when I worked at the event. For the second day of the event, we all had hangovers. The business days were fun because I was able to meet many high-profile modelers. For the last two days of the event, I was stuck babysitting a Lamborghini at the Aoshima booth. It was so boring and my feet were killing me. Did you talk with the guys at the Beaver booth? Brian there is a friend of mine and he's always great to talk with.

    It aways amazes me how there are so many talented people out there. Amazing kits all around. I don't know if you noticed, but the blue Dunbine kit, with the watercolour art, is replicating the box design. If you look at the box right next to it, you can see it's the same pose and art.

    One of those big Macross artillery models is a papercraft. I believe it is a 1/100 scale.
    I downloaded the file and built one myself a long time ago. I'm pretty sure the one in this video (the big one on the left) is the same one I made. Still have it now, but being made of cardstock and glue and going through two moves means that it isn't in the best shape anymore.

    • @pixxellie
      @pixxellie  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh thanks for the tip! I had no idea! I was pretty sure they were made of paper or cardboard but I totally thought they were scratch builds!

    • @fattiger6957
      @fattiger6957 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@pixxellie i don't know if both of them are papercraft, but the one on the left definitely is.
      There were a few old models of it (mk ii monster) but I think they were much smaller scale. There was also a bandai hi metal figure from a maybe 15 years ago, but I'm also not sure of the scale. In either case, they are super expensive so papercraft is the best choice unless you want to spend a ton of money.

    • @jefuemon5552
      @jefuemon5552 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Nope, they were both 1/72 scale. The greenish one was papercraft, the brownish one was full 3D printed scratch built. I participated with that group (VF-1 Riders).

    • @fattiger6957
      @fattiger6957 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jefuemon5552 Fair enough.
      But I'm pretty sure that papercraft is based off the same design I used. The details look exactly the same. Since it's an image file, I assume it should be fairly easy to scale up.
      But a 1/72 Monster would be truly massive. My 1/100 is already hogging up a ton of shelf space.
