May 9th 2024 New Jersey/Delaware Bay Fishing Report with Jim Hutchinson, Jr.

Our lead video this week was taken on Tuesday, May 7th out near Rockaway Beach, NY, a good distance to travel for many folks looking for a striped bass score on topwater lures, but let's hope it's turning on much closer to home at the Jersey Shore as well this week. A new moon to begin the week alongside warmer temperatures could do us all a bit of good heading into the weekend on multiple species. Striped bass and a trophy bluefin bycatch to start this week's video fishing forecast, and then we slide into an inshore slam (9:30) of options with weakfish and bluefish as well. The Delaware Bay black drum bite (11:10) is heating up during the month of May, a nice addition to the clam chucking at stripers out front (14:55). Safe kayaking tips in time for our Coastal Kayak Clash (15:35), as well as the first fish on the board in the Dream Boat Fishing Challenge. The first week of fluking is nearly in the books (18:40) at the Jersey Shore as we look back at the opener with an eye on this weekend ahead, and the Pocono Outdoors Guy (24:00) runs us through the latest options in the sweetwater. Finally, a few other salty options for the weekend ahead (27:18) before the black sea bass reopener on May 17 in the Garden State, plus some weather and technology advice (31:45) from our good friends at SiriusXM.

As a kayaker, 2 years ago I was fishing out at the ammo pier and took on water. I capsized. Not one boater could hear my whistle over their outboards. Invest in an air horn, it could literally save your life. Also inspect your plug before going out. Someone had messed with mine making me fill up with water. Props to the retired naval man who recognized I was in trouble and towed me into the highlands.😮
