    I've been designing my 6th order bandpass for my pajero at the same time as you. very thankful for your uploads as it prevented me from making mistakes. such as assuming that vent volume counts as net volume. Would you mind sharing your excel sheet for volume calculation?

    Love the design.
    I recently built a 6th order , but I faced the high tune port towards the front of the car and the lowtune port to the rear. (35 low/115 high🤔).. with the crossover settings the modeled curve looks great.
    Now, it's pretty loud, but there seems to be a lull @60-70hz. I can reverse the high side so all ports face the same way, but I don't want to if it doesn't matter. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

      Hey! I would say that the tuning is way too wide, I would stick to tuning the ports within 2 octaves. For example if the low port is 35Hz, hi port would be tuned to 70Hz, max. But it depends on the driver, box size, chamber volume proportion and many other hings, so my two cents my be wrong. At the moment in my daily setup the sub works from 30 to 60hz, with the x-over point being somewhere around 65-70Hz from where my 6x9''s take over. I really can't tell when the sub stops working and the 6x9s start, sounds real flat

      @@KarlisZalitis I took your advice and changed the tuning on the high side to @85hz. I know I know, sounds high still, but the drivers are 8's with an Fs of 46.. and it sounds almost perfect.

      From my experience when listening to "normal" music (not the re-bassed sine wave type tracks) most of the output comes from the hi tuned port, so that by changing the hi port, it will give you the most noticeable change. 85hz for those drivers seem to be a good tuning :)

    So, I was a my first Bass show (idk what they're called). A guy had a box that he said was switchable from 4 and 6th order box with PVC pipe and some ball valves. The ball valves let him switch between them. How does one design something like that?

      Higher order boxes are challenging to design. There is some software to help with the work, like WinISD or Hornresp, but often a lot of decisions are made from previous experience

  • @akuncrazy
    @akuncrazy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    is the rear chamber in winISD in the magnetic area? or rubber?

    • @KarlisZalitis
      @KarlisZalitis  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really does not matter, as long as there are 2 separately sealed chambers with their respective tunings and volumes. Over the years I have decided to call the chambers ''the big one'' and the ''small one'', so it is easier to keep track on the model. WinISD also does not give different results whether you enter the big chamber volume and tuning into the rear or front calculation area.

    Wow very detailed and accurate
    Did u make it already ? Did u cut it in cnc machine

    • @KarlisZalitis
      @KarlisZalitis  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Dan! I have not yet built it but I am going to in the following weeks. The box can be made without a cnc, but I have one and want to make it pretty :D So yes, many parts will be cut on the cnc - the doors for speakers, the big middle brace and the top and bottom boards with grooves for the vertical parts

      When or if you release the cut list, or box specs, how would I adjust this design for the speaker mounts to run two kicker L7s in ten inch? And thusly the overall size of the box?

    • @KarlisZalitis
      @KarlisZalitis  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! The cut list is coming soon :) I am still gathering materials for the build, just ordered the 2nd speaker. But to be fair, for two 10'' kickers it will be a completely different box - chamber volumes, rear and front port tuning and dimensions, mounting and access cut-outs.. I hope my future videos will help to answer your questions :)

      Thanks dude, I was planning to use the cut out section's and place acrylic windows and led runs inside.

    • @KarlisZalitis
      @KarlisZalitis  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! Rough plans can be found in the final part of the build, 13 min 55 sec mark - th-cam.com/video/1meOMMevR0A/w-d-xo.html
      But I would suggest to adjust the ports and chamber volumes for your specific speakers using WinISD before commiting to cut wood :)
