my 04 fe450 is set at .004. bought a thin feeler gauge from motorcycle shop. use it each time when needed and works great !

I could force a gauge down there but Husaberg mechanics recommends this way on these engines, since both intake and exhaust has the same clearance value, the 1/6 method works best.

There was almost no clearance on intake valves so it was a good thing i did check and adjust.

In Google Images found a *nice* cut away of the engine ... wanted to look at the design approach for the top of that cylinder.
Don't know anything about dirt bikes, didn't realize it was a one cylinder job.
    Like that pancake thin piston!
How how does it rev up in RPM?

I have a 03 husaburg 400 I’m in the middle of doing the valve clearance also and my intake side has a whole 8th inch play when I move it with my fingers is that normal ??

Hi, great video! Just wondering if this is a similar process with the FE650 2002? Thanks in advance

It should be but I can't say I'm 100%, if you dont have the manual try and Google it.

Really good video thank you! Will that same technique work on a FE 450 do you think? The clearances are 0.10mm which is the same.

Cheers! I think so but can't be sure, if it´s an older model, (my Husa is a 1998) like mine it should be the same proceeding.

***** Cheers! You should check after 20 hours of riding. I don't have the info on Fe450 2006 but the 2009 are.
      Exhaust valve clearance: 0.12 mm
      Intake valve clearance: 0.10 mm
But i have been told 0.10 on both intake and exhaust works fine too.
You can use a gauge on your bike, its not as tight as in the older bikes. Just make sure you are at TDC!

    It is really simple, indeed.

Does this method work with the 2008 fe450?

  • @GurrasGarage
    @GurrasGarage  11 ปีที่แล้ว

It sure is, general dirt biking would equate to race conditions for a road bike :)

  • @GurrasGarage

New valves can change their clearances while they run in, pretty normal i think, but to charge £250 is nuts, it should be for free on a new bike. On a motocross bike you need to check valves regularly since the engine is designed for sports use. I also need to change oil/filter every 8-10 hours, only 1 liter of oil in the engine. I guess these bikes are not for commuting :)

Those screws must have been loosened and tightened many times over the years :) RSMF

It is a lot maintenance on these bikes indeed, but they are not made for road use, pure race bikes.

A good place to start is using a correctly seized screwdriver for the slot! 🙈
