I could force a gauge down there but Husaberg mechanics recommends this way on these engines, since both intake and exhaust has the same clearance value, the 1/6 method works best.
In Google Images found a *nice* cut away of the engine ... wanted to look at the design approach for the top of that cylinder. Don't know anything about dirt bikes, didn't realize it was a one cylinder job. Like that pancake thin piston! How how does it rev up in RPM?
I have a 03 husaburg 400 I’m in the middle of doing the valve clearance also and my intake side has a whole 8th inch play when I move it with my fingers is that normal ??
***** Cheers! You should check after 20 hours of riding. I don't have the info on Fe450 2006 but the 2009 are. Exhaust valve clearance: 0.12 mm Intake valve clearance: 0.10 mm But i have been told 0.10 on both intake and exhaust works fine too. You can use a gauge on your bike, its not as tight as in the older bikes. Just make sure you are at TDC!
New valves can change their clearances while they run in, pretty normal i think, but to charge £250 is nuts, it should be for free on a new bike. On a motocross bike you need to check valves regularly since the engine is designed for sports use. I also need to change oil/filter every 8-10 hours, only 1 liter of oil in the engine. I guess these bikes are not for commuting :)
This might be the best valve clearences tutorial on youtube. Easy and simple, Thank you.
Thanks!
This video is the best I've ever seen, saved me so much time.
Thanks!
I cant find TDC. I supposed i found and adjusted but intake is not working properly right now. Bike is stopping when i open throttle shorthly.
my 04 fe450 is set at .004. bought a thin feeler gauge from motorcycle shop. use it each time when needed and works great !

There was almost no clearance on intake valves so it was a good thing i did check and adjust.
Awesome tip, guess what I am doing tomorrow morning...

Hi, great video! Just wondering if this is a similar process with the FE650 2002? Thanks in advance
It should be but I can't say I'm 100%, if you dont have the manual try and Google it.
Very helpful, thank you!
Cheers 👍
Really good video thank you! Will that same technique work on a FE 450 do you think? The clearances are 0.10mm which is the same.
Cheers! I think so but can't be sure, if it´s an older model, (my Husa is a 1998) like mine it should be the same proceeding.

It is really simple, indeed.
Does this method work with the 2008 fe450?
It sure is, general dirt biking would equate to race conditions for a road bike :)

Those screws must have been loosened and tightened many times over the years :) RSMF
It is a lot maintenance on these bikes indeed, but they are not made for road use, pure race bikes.
Get a better screw driver dude.. You are boogering up that lock screw..
🤣
55 hp @ 9000 rpm, 13:1 compression ratio
Guess it does look pretty simple though...
Every 15 hours?!? That sounds like a LOT of frequent maintenance time!
A good place to start is using a correctly seized screwdriver for the slot! 🙈
A little late for that now
Gurra bike long gone or blew up?
Why to moan about a bloody screwdriver? It bloody worked. I don't people like that, probably wear tie and suit in the garage
Darn iPad! By the look of the screws, it looks like the previous owner tried to turn them without loosening the nut. Radeon safe bro.
That will help a lot of people, because that's the best way to do it when you can't fit a gap gauge. By the
Can any one please tell me the valve clearances for a 2002 F8501 hussberg
like that...
Thanks Hoary! rsmf
