    Picard is being written similarly to how he was written in “All Good Things.” The conflict between Riker and Picard (Picard’s insistence vs. River’s impatience) is being handled the same way.
    Perfect. Both are the characters in older form.

    This show gets better and better! The scene between Picard and Crusher is some of the best acting I have seen in a while. Having an emotional connection to the characters has to be taken into account, of course.
    And Worf! AMAZING.

    This episode was FANTASTIC! The season is off to a great start and just keeps getting better as we go so far. The Picard/Beverly scene in Sickbay about Jack was so well done, kudos to Stewart and McFadden they nailed it. Word is still awesome and he and Raffi are a fun pairing so far. Great action and suspense and the big reveal of the return of the Changelings being involved in the bad guy plot was awesome and a great surprise! (Liked Word making it clear it was Odo who warned him about the rouge Changelings without saying his name). Even the scene with Seven and Sydney LaForge was good "Commander Seven". I wonder where the vision Jack Crusher had when dying with the voice saying "connect the branches, find me" and the red door is gonna lead to. Frakes once again nailed it directing a Trek episode. I can't wait for the next episode!

    Patrick Stewart said this in an interview with Den of Geek that "Picard was perhaps not right in the choices he was making, that was important to me. That made Picard more human. It made him somebody who, to our surprise, could allow his feelings at times to overwhelm him in a dangerous and negative way."

    I always love listening to your perspectives! I'm having a blast with this season, and I'm glad to see you guys are, too! I can't wait to hear more!

    This episode had everything! Picard/Riker, Picard/Beverly, the Mutara Nebu... er, whatever this is. Space battles, the twist of this new threat, Christopher Plummer swiveling around in his chair saying, "Cry havoc! And let slip the dogs of war!"

    Another smashing episode. They did a fantastic job showing why Beverly did what she did. We need to see these harrowing events she described, perfect for Short Treks.
    Sad about Disco but I think a movie is in the cards so I'm not really upset it's ending. It's been my favorite Trek for a couple of years now so a movie better be next.

      Also, Worf continues to steal the show with Raffi.

    If only Beverly was present with Troi, when Picard was explaining what happened to his brother Robert and nephew Rene dying in the fire in Generations. Picard expressed how Rene was the closest thing to a son he though he’d have and how the Picard family line would end. I wonder if that would have had more bearing on Beverly’s decision to not tell Picard about Jack.

    Maybe Seven of Nine is the Changeling on board the Titan since Jack saw a weird vision of her?

    Rocha with the Hot Take of him preferring Riker over Picard....

      It's ultimately not surprising as Riker was always sort of an amalgamation of Kirk and Will Decker. Hell, his name is William T. Riker.

    Look, I just hit play and I don’t know what you’re going to say, but in my opinion this is the best episode ST Picard has ever offered up. A few moments of bad dialogue, but several of fantastic dialogue and intrigue. It felt like almost 90s level good. Almost like when TNG was peaking around seasons 4/5. I was impressed. And that’s a good cliff hanger.
    Yes, I know they are still borrowing from Kahn and other Trek adventures, but Trek has borrowed from Trek for as long as there has been Trek. I loved it. Is it Trek at its absolute highest TV level? No. But City of the Edge of Forever and Best of Both Worlds are few and far between. 0:10

    Getting shot with their own torpedoes at the end wasn't so much Picard's fault as it was Riker's. If Riker had acted faster, they could've shot the Shrike before it had the chance to turn around to be to use the portal weapon against them. Picard was actually right that they needed to punch the Shrike in the nose to get them off of them, especially because Riker was doing the same damn thing at each turn and continuing to get an awful result.

    • @JohnRochaSays
      @JohnRochaSays  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. The Shrike would've done the exact same thing if they had acted earlier. It can whip a starship. It can whip around a portal weapon. Where you might have a point is that they wouldn't have been doomed to the gravity well if Riker had acted sooner.

    • @Playhouse76
      @Playhouse76 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JohnRochaSays Possibly, but stopping the leak left the Shrike blind enough for a moment that they could've had a shot. The hesitation gave them enough time to locate the Titan and turn around to face them. I think, like the Picard and Crusher scene, it's a moment where both were right and both were wrong. And it cost them. Interested to see what lies in that gravity well that looks like may be a benefit to them.

    Rocha preferring Riker over Picard isn't that surprising. I felt that way originally, too, b/c he was more reminiscent of Kirk (which, I think, is Rocha's draw to Riker) before Picard grew on me.

  • @Vulcanerd
    @Vulcanerd ปีที่แล้ว

    The story worked out for Kirk b/c it was written that way. It didn't work out for Picard... b/c it was written that way.
