You've (probably) Not Seen A Dirt Jump Bike Ridden Like This Before

  • Unless you watch James Barton, Ayato Kimura or Chris Akrigg (plus many others I'm sure) then you'd normally see a Dirt Jump bike being ridden as designed, well following on from my previous videos where I built a DJ bike as a trials bike and entered a comp, it's time to just get out an enjoy it.
Thanks for watching and see you next week, I hope you have a good one!

That drop looks like a proper frame breaker, and the landing looked like a potential shoulder breaker too......nicely done!!! 🙂👍🏻

Check out James Barton here on the Tube. He rides a DJ bike and has a crazy creative style of riding trials.
    Great video btw. As always.

your one of the people that motivates me to keep practicing trials
ive been practicing on a dj bike since day one
in my country any decent trials bike would cost the same to buy a 100cc motorcycle
i just ride a dj bike with 120mm travel air suspension with 32mm thickness for the Stansions and with a full lockout
26x2.95 maxxis pace with a speedone torpedo hub (8 pawls its a budget brand but I do not suggest them for sudden engagement if you dont know how to handle them ive marred and sheered the rachet ring of the hub before)
mt200 shimano brakes front and back
    riser stem 45° 40mm length
    riser bars 90mm rise
    enlee m3 pedals

Yeah that paint job looks so pro, you did a great job on that my man. probably will hide future scratches well too eh.
Love the leaf spring style chain tension-er also, such a simple but effective design.

I've been an advocate for trials riding on a non trials bike for bike control.... Just playing around w/ trials is a fantastic way of learning bike control, especially after a session of not riding or after an injury.
Edit: 17:12 - This is my favorite part... I love nose bonks when riding over something, they're so much fun.

So awesome seeing you ride some of this stuff again!🔥🤌 They definitely changed that one structure though! The “trees” where round before that, and I think they also added some height! What’s funny, is that when I first saw the vlog with Danny you did there in 2017, I instantly though about, if it would be possible to tyretap it! Would love to see that👀🙌

Man, it's cool to watch you explain what you're thinking and see you make a decision in real time about needing your full-sus bike to descend that wacky corner if the log structure. It'd also be cool to see you come back and take your revenge on that huge tree branch you and Danny had trouble with in your first video at this place.

Had a look at the old video Ali, and yes they've completely rebuilt the pyramid obstacle. Last time it was taller, the logs were thinner, round, and covered in bark. this made it super tricky to judge grip. Guess the bark and wood didn't last, so they've put in bigger logs and cut it to give flat steps.

You're riding is awesome on the dirt bike! Didn't expect that. Seems like you're feeling comfortable on it... I'm really thinking about building something like this too. Would be perfect for where I ride I think... Do you think it would be a good idea to use a slightly longer stem in combination with those high rise bars? I feel like I'm doing much better on the front wheel with longer stems, so that would be something I'd probably change a bit?

I would have thought the one big advantage to that Ass Bracket height/drop would have been the static balance. Surprised balance was giving you trouble. Were the longer chainstays harder on the shoulders when you landed that drop? Great Vid! Its been 37-40 degrees here every day for weeks. I need to get over it and just go ride like you.

Just gotta get good at trackstands, do those for like 10 years, do em blindfold, one handed, sat down with your foot as the brake, drunk af inside at 2AM on a rainy Tuesday morning.... learn to wheelie/manny/J-hop in your sleep then progress to back hops and become basically back-hop-Jesus-reincarnate, do that also for like 10 years. Combine the two (hopefully just learn all that at the same time, and hopefully when you are young enough to bounce when you don't land so well) ...Easy...lol.
I'm starting to realise why the venn diagram of people able to do this well is pretty small haha.
