this is awesome, i love the explaination of what goes through your mind, and why things do or do not work. way more cerebral than "bike go hop" very cool stuff!!
I wish I'd known this was on,I'd have popped along! Haven't seen John or Andrei for years.when DJ was killed I pretty much stopped riding,so I haven't seen anyone since about '07 which was one of (if not the last) of the memorial rides in mine and DJs home town.Bumped into wheeler a few times, and saw Matt Berridge at reading festival, but that's about it. Would love to catch up with the guys again. Might even dust off the old Curtis T1 comp!
Love that you guys do competition with those street bikes😅, if i take my streettrial to the training ground the boys make fun of it😂 but the extra challenge makes it just so awesome😎
Whoo! Congrats on a podium! Love seeing ya try all these different bikes in comps. I'm getting myself ready to ride my 29er full sus in a comp in June and can't wait.
Podium on the “wrong bike” = awesomesauce!!! Way to go!!! I did this for three seasons in open/pro/expert singlespeed XC racing, against all odds. The “wrong” bike = the “right” bike if you are comfortable with it and are competitive. (I did this on a fully rigid fatbike which weighed roughly 11.3 kilos)
doing something similar just picked up a chromag monk frame in the xtra long size. It's a bit of a parts bin build, throwing a set of arcade bars on, front brake, etc. Big change though, I'm throwing on gears, I have a 7 speed dh derailleur, kinda like the old days when comps required you to keep a geared drive-train on. I'll probably have to give up my barspin ambitions depending on how I mount the shifter but at-least I can have some trials gears and some dj/street gears.
Just fiy, I worked with those white plastic poles making fences for events, you know arenas for kids electric keeps and pathways around trampolines n such so people don’t come too close. They are super sketchy to fall on, some of them sit super hard in ground with the spike and you can easily break a bone on them and they won’t even bend slightly. The hooks on them also sometimes are so sharp they can cut fabric or skin. Just weird to me organisers used those. Great riding still
This looks like good times! The disc riding is definitely more pleasant over rim brake, i wish it was a thing on comp bikes. I think you're going to have a blast on the streets with that bike.
Despite the previous response of "NO" to the request of a higher frame rate, thanks for the higher frame rate of this video. It made the entire thing watchable.
you beast! i thought you would give yourself an easier time after doing the last event on fatbike, so fair play for doing this on one the DJ bike rather than using a comp one! gg on 3rd place
Trials on a dirt jump bike... Well, that's what we rode trials on years ago, dirt jump and dual slalom frames. Who here remembers the old DMR Sidekick and Azonic DS1?
Great result and ride on a dirt jump. Kudos you show all the results, as the encouragement of the younger riders pays dividends. Trials parks are always tight set sections, as I found a natural course can give you a bit more room and not as exhausting. But then again, this was a national champ round. What line do the Seniors ride?
You definitely had the nicest bike there, was painful to hear it scrape the rock. I have a custom frame coming, sort of a dj/trials hybrid with a longer reach. Planning to try a suspension fork and bigger tires to save my geriatric joints, so I was really curious how yours would work out.
Well done Ali. Props for just giving it a go, once again on a non trials bike without much, if any time on it before hand. Big question is though....Did you put any scratches in that beautiful paint job? :-D
It takes pretty serious skills to make this look that easy. Do you think this bike would be a better for street trials than an observed comp? Also, do you just have a tall stack, or are you running a higher stem? I'm building a dirtjumper street trails rig, and this part has me a little stuck. Thanks!
@@strikepackgod1891 haha fair enough, I always upload at this time every week so I thought you were annoyed at me for not posting for ages and it made me confused 😋
Hey Ali, got a quick question, not sure if you’ll have an answer but just wondered if someone would be allowed to enter a ‘bike trials’ event on a trials unicycle? I can’t find any rule which clearly states either way? Cheers
Hi Ali, I note there are some mangled-looking names in the Patreon credits which may be due to use of a font lacking a large enough character set. Or possibly copying and pasting through a program using the wrong encoding. Seems to be names with accented characters or entirely different languages. If the names aren't meant to look like that, I'd try some of the other common fonts you have first. Helvetica or Arial, for their ubiquity. Failing that, a Google Font that supports other languages might be the go.
I think Ali is doing the rounds competing on every bike he’s done a DJ fat bike so he’s only got a road bike Enduro bike and a DH bike to go LOL joking aside congratulations BRO Another podium Jack is going to be worried soon LOL
"I Entered The British Trials Nationals On A Downhill Bike" "I Entered The British Trials Nationals On A Unicycle" "I Entered The British Trials Nationals On A Tandem"
Nice! I hope you didn't scratch the amazing paint job too much. There are a few women taking the points (referees or whatever you call those), but are there any women competing?
I’ve watched Ali at comps for years, and done many hours on duty as an ‘observer’, but while watching this vid I was struck by how much upper body strength is needed to lift and jump through the sections, certainly at this venue. Although I am very much for equal ops I think the number of women possessing this kind of physical strength are few and far between. There are so many different disciplines in biking and perhaps female riders prefer to use their strength and talents on two wheels in other forms.
This discipline requires tremendous skill and courage. I admire your talent and confidence. Congratulations for your achievement.
this is awesome, i love the explaination of what goes through your mind, and why things do or do not work. way more cerebral than "bike go hop"
very cool stuff!!
Alway like the fact you show every ones podiums a nice bit of respect

Dude, that dirt jumper looks really insane, just loved it

Fair play for including all the podiums in the video. Nice one. And fun video. Thanks

Great riding still
Really like the competition content. Also like that you show the complete podium. It is always great to see young riders in any discipline.
I'm glad you chose a more appropriate category this time around. The categories distinguish a riders skill level, not the bike they choose to ride.
Absolutely fantastic result. Well done Ali. Great to see you competing again. Even if it was more for fun
Ali, is able to get on the podium even with a kettcar! Nice to watch your videos, every single time.
Greets from Germany
Omg that bike is beautiful.
Very nice. Amazing skills.
Congratulations
Ali you are just insane.
Its like bringing a Slingshot to a Gunfight and you still hit a Podium! Insane!
This looks like good times! The disc riding is definitely more pleasant over rim brake, i wish it was a thing on comp bikes. I think you're going to have a blast on the streets with that bike.
What a performance Ali, congrats!
Nice! For a bike with a shock. You did very well! But you have good skills. Keep up the good job! Congratulations on3 .
Congrats
YESS, new video!!!
Despite the previous response of "NO" to the request of a higher frame rate, thanks for the higher frame rate of this video. It made the entire thing watchable.
I didn’t change a thing 😂
you beast! i thought you would give yourself an easier time after doing the last event on fatbike, so fair play for doing this on one the DJ bike rather than using a comp one! gg on 3rd place
Now 2 great trials riders on DJ bikes James Barton and you Ali.
yes both awesome
Awesome Ali!!!!
I wheelie enjoyed watching and congratulation for wild Ali appearing on podium.
Top job!
Bad crack with that dab Andrei gave you!
👊👊🙏
looking forward to this after seeing you on Nigel McGoldricks upload of the trial
well done Ally
Trials on a dirt jump bike... Well, that's what we rode trials on years ago, dirt jump and dual slalom frames. Who here remembers the old DMR Sidekick and Azonic DS1?
pretty sure i sent Tarty Bikes a message asking about XT brakes, and they were awesome. big thumbs up!

It just goes to show how good you really are
Nice riding 👍
Looked like a ton of fun Ali! I miss this. Hopefully I'll get out to a comp soon!
Well Done Ali

Very Nice Ali, good job
Well done Ali!!
Always great content 🔥
well played Ali, goes to show that you don't need a top of the line trial specific bike to be competitive, nor to have fun!
Awesome work Ali!
Great work alli great vid :)
I think i mostly been riding and bike-setup been towards dirt/street/trial rather than pure trial, its a bit more versatile riding
Yeah this style of bike is a great Jack of all trades 👍🏻
You definitely won best looking bike!

Omg he finally uploaded
Confused 😐
I mean you haven’t uploaded for a week and I been waiting to see you on this bike
@@strikepackgod1891 haha fair enough, I always upload at this time every week so I thought you were annoyed at me for not posting for ages and it made me confused 😋
Nah keep up the good vids it amazing what you and everyone els can with all the bike control
Hope you didn't scratch that new paint to bad! Great riding! Cheers! 😀👍🚲
I always love your videos I really want to be a MTB biker when I'm 16 but I'm 14 soo in two years imma start something like you
That’s cool but why wait?
I can't I don't live alone and got no job to buy the bikes😅
Is it just me or do the 20 inch wheels on the hex (?) make it look rather Brompton-esque in some of the shots? Folding bike trials Ali? :)
I like the comp content the most of all. I guess its because Iv never really watched trials comps before
Hey Ali, got a quick question, not sure if you’ll have an answer but just wondered if someone would be allowed to enter a ‘bike trials’ event on a trials unicycle? I can’t find any rule which clearly states either way? Cheers
Have you tried with rigid fork? Could be really even more capable with gears.
aweome

you are Scott Adkins of Trials riding, very artful...
Does this @12:30 count as one dab if you manage to get up on the bike again...?
I think Ali is doing the rounds competing on every bike he’s done a DJ fat bike so he’s only got a road bike Enduro bike and a DH bike to go LOL joking aside congratulations BRO Another podium Jack is going to be worried soon LOL
A great uh trial for that bike, to see what it can do. Street next? :O
What’s the time there because where I live it’s 2:38am
5:30pm
Hi I love your video's and I am going to get a trialbike soon, do you have any advice for a bike under 700euro's?
Streettrials wise the Inspired Flow is around that budget and is an excellent bike!
what gearing are you using?
Adrei Burton related to James Burton trials rider?
Different spellings, it’s Burton and Barton
Looks great fun day, maybe I should of stuck at trials lol
Piotrek Krajewski Płakał jak oglądał
Hi, Algorithm, those are ma boys, and they have a big sister, too.
You should take that bike to some dirt jumps
"I Entered The British Trials Nationals On A Downhill Bike"
"I Entered The British Trials Nationals On A Unicycle"
"I Entered The British Trials Nationals On A Tandem"
This proves yet another time that the good riding is 95% skills and only 5% a bike.

Pretty sure Adam Morewood was riding a bike since he was in the womb
Anyone remember 'kickstart'?
Next Video Trials Nationals on a Downhill Bike ; )
Next episode: I entered a trials comp on my penny board!
Not "street-trials" but "dirt-trials" bike :)
