Lovely machine! I have a similar setup but it's a P50. The color calibrator is used to calibrate the display using a software Lenovo provides to make the colors more accurate to some standard.
@@HaisteComputerRepair Mine don't have it so I have no real life exp. with it. I think Lenovo ThinkPad P50 Full In-depth Review by Modern Classic has some info and details about the display and calibration.
Im still rocking my P51. The high CPU temp issue keeps coming to the surface, even after reapplying new thermal compound. I had the machine serviced while still under warranty in 2018 and the temps did drop for a few months. I believe this has more to do with the design of the heat sink fasteners.
I noticed high heat, but perhaps that was an intentional design to keep the fan noise low. Though it did get high, it never shut down due to overheating.
@@TechDave Impressive! For laptops, I don't really need much outside of office work for my day job and light gaming if I am on a trip and I have time. I am just geeking out at the P15 experience. Btw, it turns out I have watched one of your X230 videos some time ago :)
No, but I am currently using a P52 with the 6 core 12 thread Xeon CPU and Quadro P2000 4GB GDDR5 GPU. It's great. I will do a video on it probably this coming March 2024.
Good question as they are similar. It would depend on what the CPU and dedicated GPU are in each device before comparing. I will be receiving a P50 soon for review.
@@HaisteComputerRepair I have an old SWIR camera system that uses an expresscarxd 34 interface, and i have been unable to find an adapter to work with anything other than the computer i have it working on (which is a failing Thinkpad Edge running Windows 7). I'd like to get a more modern computer, that can run that software (with the EC34 port) while also running another SWIR camera running windows 10) and some light Photoshop/Lightroom. Right now i have a computer running each camera plus another one that can process the images, it makes for a clunky experience, and as i said the old Thinkpad is struggling. Definitely a heat sink issue, considering mine is passively-cooled 70% of the time (to be fair, I'm using Linux)
