I reckon it could use a crackle or pop at the end of high revving shifts. Overall looks like a nice car. The subtle sports appearance suits it well.

Sad to see that 'sport' badges on cars are just being thrown around these days. 2.0 4 cylinder in a large sedan with a quiet exhaust is hardly sporty. Maybe stickers and decals is all it takes for a car to be sporty nowadays.

The sport is the styling pack ie sporty look, body, bigger alloys etc but you cannot say 300bhp is not sporty especially as the XF is one of the best handling in its class.

I hate the gear selector.. why do manufacturers keep using this twist dial thing.. LR/Jag and Ford need to just stop with it.

They do it because it does free up space in the center console. I do agree with you because then you lose the "auto stick" or manual mode, if you want to call it that... my next car is going to have an actual stick coming out of the transmission tunnel, because I like actually doing something rather than turning something that you can turn with no force at all.

But I do like how they are trying to free up space in the console. But there are other ways to do it. Honda has that push-button shifter, Ram puts the transmission selector (it's a knob) just below the start engine button, and Lincoln has their push-button selector either below the climate controls or on the left side of the infotainment screen. Kinda cool to see automakers come up with their own little ideas and such, but I really enjoy pulling a transmission lever.

That exhaust note is so weak. Why does JLR not tune the 2.0T exhaust to sound better? The transmission shifts also don’t sound remotely quick compared to the German competition. It makes no sense considering the XF uses the identical transmission Audi and BMW use in their cars. It all comes down to the software tuning and JLR obviously isn’t trying to match the best BMW has to offer.

Very poor sound. My 2016 xf s 3lt petrol sounds much better. Jaguar have compromised on the engine and still maintained a similar price to the s version.
