    Philips absolutely sucks with explaining their own technologies/product features but thankfully @Electric Teeth did a great job. Finally understand the brush sync. I asked Philips support just 3 days ago how does my brush handle know when I need to change my brushhead the rep replies "it's automatic" Well that was not helpful. When you explained the RFID and how each brushhead is unique and this is how the handle tracks usage and which type of brushead is installed, it makes more sense now

  • @FirstMM

    Oh c'mon, this is just Philips trying to get more people to spend $11 on a new brush head every 3 months ($46 for 4 heads) for the luxury of not having to press the mode select button 3 times.
    They have basically found a way to deter people from buying compatible heads for $3 each because Philips won't supply the RFID chip to 3rd party suppliers.

  • @stevenswall
    @stevenswall 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    This would be perfect to prevent users from buying any other brush heads: Just lock the handle from turning on if there isn't a Philips certified tip. Basically, DRM for your toothbrush. :(

    LOL the replace brush head light has turned on on my Sonicare after approximately one month and a half of use! The brush head is still ok so it's a good thing the toothbrush still works and doesn't refuse to work unless I change the brush head like some inkjet printers refuse to print unless you change the ink cartridge even though the ink cartridge might still have some ink left.

      @@ElectricTeeth twice per day and about 4 minutes each brushing session. 2 minutes is not enough for me to clean my teeth thoroughly.

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      👍 understood. This would explain why the brush head reminder light has come on. The system works on the basis that most should brush for 2 minutes, twice a day, so 4 minutes per day. You are doing double this.
      As a brush head should be replaced on average every 3 months, your brushing time means the length of time between brush heads replacement is technically halved. So, the light has come on at about the right time.
      You can certainly get a bit more use out of the head, but you should consider replacing it soon as you will have worn the bristles more than the average user in that time.

    I am thinking about buying the same model of a toothbrush as you are showing in this video. What would happen if I tried using the brush for tongue on this toothbrush which does not have the tongue mode like Diamond Clean series does? Do you need to use a different brush for every of the three modes or can you manually override the mode chosen by BrushSync and thus use one brush for all three modes?

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hasan. No brush head will automatically turn on a toothbrush.
      Certain brush heads will change the cleaning mode automatically, if used with the appropriate handle.
      If memory serves me correctly, the ProtectiveClean 4300 has a 'Clean' mode. No 'Optimal' mode. The Premium Plaque Control [RFID] (C3) I believe will pair with the standard clean mode. But, as this is the only mode available on this brush there is no option for any brush head to automatically select a different mode.
      i hope this helps.

    Can you make a video comparing all of the Sonicare brush heads? It's a little confusing. I assume that the C3, W3, G3 are all top of the line. C3 (premium) is better than C2 (optimal) for example.
    Also I assume that C3 is what's best suited for every day general cleaning. I wonder if there's anything called C1.

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Thom,
      They are indeed very confusing. We have plans to make a video about them, but it might be some time before before this is actually online.
      The 'premium' brush heads could be considered as better, but they are not drastically better. The main difference is these newere C3, W3,C3 etc are BrushSync enabled.
      In the meantime, you may find this helpful: www.electricteeth.co.uk/philips-sonicare-heads/

      If you want to disable the brush head replacement reminder system the steps are:
      1. Place the handle in the plugged-in charger.
      2. Brush head replacement reminder is enabled by holding the mode/intensity button and by pressing the power button three times while on the charger. The handle will beep twice to confirm it is enabled.
      3. Brush head replacement reminder is disabled by holding the mode/intensity button and by pressing the power button three times while on the charger. The handle will beep once to confirm it is disabled.

      Liza. If you are using a BrushSync compatible head and BrushSync enabled handle, it is on by default, and the amber/yellow light on the handle will light up at around 3 months when the brush head ideally needs replacement.
      I suspect you have already connected the brush head to the handle, but the first time you connect a new head to the handle, the light will flash to alert you that it has detected the new brush head and is now tracking it.
      On select models, such as the Sonicare DiamondClean Smart there is Bluetooth connectivity, which shows the number of times a brush head has been used within the smartphone app as another confirmation it is working.

      No John, it will not. Each head has a unique identifier, so it know it has been used before. The only catch would be if you attach a partially worn/used brush head to a new handle. In this instance, the handle would treat it as a new head because it will not have previously connected to or tracked that head.

    It's cool how they will provide these wasteful gimmicks nobody asked for but will absolutely not upgrade the water resistance on this electronic product that finds itself in water daily, so that it can break and make you buy a new one. Capitalist innovation at its finest.
