I put stress coat (a quarter tsp per gallon) in my tap water and it has helped A LOT! Stress coat dechlorinates and is supposed to remove dissolved metals and other impurities. Stress coat is what folks who keep fish add to the water that the fish live in.
The SPONSORSHIP? Yes!!! 🎉 so excited for you. Always grateful for another Fern video as well 😊
Maybe you could chop and prop the double growth on your domesticum so you could have an aesthetic one and investigate what happens with the double growth??
The way my jaw DROPPED when you announced the sponsor 😲🥹😩 sooo incredibly happy for you Fern, congratulations 💜
At
I have had the same issue with my Florida Ghost, and what helped for me was moving her further away from the light. That made the leaves start turning minty/green again, I was so relieved!
I’ve always been told to water calathea/maranta with distilled because they’re so sensitive to the salts/chlorine in tap water! It’s the only thing that keeps the tips of mine from turning brown!
You can buy more curtain rod holders and make sure you have them screwed into wood and your plants shouldn’t pull the rod down. Also more holders is better so the rod doesn’t bend
Omg!!! The sponsorship we've all been waiting for!!! Yaaassss!! You turned me onto their nail polish and I'll hooked! I love it!
Orchid nut here 🤚 you can cut the spike off on the orchid, it won’t rebloom from the same spike. I would wait to repot when you see new “bulb” starting to emerge. That way if any roots get damaged in the repot you’ll know there will be a fresh batch coming in from the new growth.
I don't even wear nail polish but I've been following Mooncat for a few years and am ALWAYS in awe of their colours. Congratulations, Fern!
Nice opening, great way to start the day. On the Florida Ghost, I'm wondering if moving her to a slightly darker spot would have her go more green? Your plants all look so healthy :)
Starting my day with coffee and Fern ☕💚
Yes, the water thing is so tricky! I have a handful of ctenanthe & carnivorous plants, and because I have well water (no chloramine/fluoride) I was also watering them with my tap water, however well water can still have a lot of minerals and dissolved solids, my TDS is around 70-120ppm depending on temperature of the water. I recently switched to watering them with water from a ZeroWater pitcher which removes pretty much everything. On the new growth I think I'm already seeing less brown/crispy tips and edges.
The way you care for your plants is like art. It makes me take care of mine better then ever. Thank you for taking us along for the journey💚
I think I commented about not watering calathea with tap water under that previous video. It's honestly what has worked for me too so i second that notion. Although I use rainwater and that works aswell.
Omg that red leaf in the intro!!!! I can't wait to watch!! 😍❤️🔥
