So what was the idea behind that indicator shaft with the multiple grooves at the PTO housing? Can you put an indicator on there to track your movements or????? I wasn’t sure what they were using that shaft for....if your adjustments have to land at a certain spot dictated by where you can lock in that cam (.015 per position) there isn’t much point in reading the shafts movement with an indicator because you can only live in .015 increments right? I guess it would be nice to set an indicator on there and “zero” the dial and once you start adjustments you can always remember where you started at. Still not sure why the shaft had to be grooved? ( and the manual wanted you to be aware of the location of that groove so they must have something in mind with using it for measurements.
Mr Ron do you have a Massey Ferguson 1250 reason I'm asking I have a 1250 I can't find the steel screen filter that goes for the hydraulic fluid not the filter that you screw on that's paper but the screen that they say you wash out and put back I've looked all over this transmission and I can't find the cover plate to the dealer or my book describes was wondering if you might know my tractor's been slipping and high gear pretty bad I don't believe it's the clutch because I hear no grinding from rivets I'm thinking it has something to do with the fluid not being the proper amount in volume I'm never changed out this filter or rather washed it out I just bought the tractor a couple years ago for my father who had it for 20 years and never even knew about the screen filter and I think it might be my problem anyway if you could help me I would be grateful

Hi Paul! The transmission does not take gear oil, it takes Hydra Trans Transmission oil.. Sounds like you may have the wrong oil in there!
