    • @manuelpaz6716

      I asume Samsung is close to the Neo qled QN90C in brightnes (around 1800/2000💡) maybe they refer to 3000 nits only in 3 % 🪟

    • @Tomogeny
      @Tomogeny 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@manuelpaz6716 there is no way. the s95c has the same peak in 3% as in 10% window. thats not gonna go from a 1350 peak to 2500-3000 nits within one year of incremental small improvement and some software trickery. I'd think those kinds of upgrades only occur when a whole new panel technology is out (like micro lenses + QD oled or something)

    I work with regular LEDs, and I know that under-driving them by only 20% greatly increases their longevity... I never drive them at their nominal power… I'd put two LEDs in my lamp and drive them at 50%, and the lamp doesn't noticeably lose brightness over time... That's what has to be done with OLED PC monitors - take a 3000 nit panel and cap it at 1000, and you'll get an OLED monitor that lasts 10 years...

If the scale is the same for a 3000 nits panel, it would be 2000 nits for the S95D, but I think that's still too ambitious. I'm expecting more like 1650 nit peak brightness

Claims are made during CES that will have to be verified by Caleb and FOMO and HDTV-Test later this year. While I am skeptical, I'm excited to see the reviews and measurements later this year!

    • @DisplayNAudioTech
      @DisplayNAudioTech 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@joes3800 they are talking about heat that means it the g3. Everyone knows G3 heats up like crazy hot because of MLA aka the magnifying glass effect and it looks exactly like a g3 or g series tv.

    • @joes3800
      @joes3800 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @DisplayNAudioTech MLA is a passive technology: the same or less energy translates to higher viewed brightness. Also, the heat sink would further dissipate any heat generated on the panel. But with a "conventional" OLED without those technologies, then you would have more heat generated (and not as easily dissipated) to achieve higher brightness. You are displaying your lack of knowledge and providing more evidence that Samsung is using an A- or B- or C- series LG OLED (or something similar) as its control, i.e. "conventional" OLED.

    Great coverage. I like Samsung's QD OLED tech better than what LG is pursuing with Meta OLED. Because the micro lends LG is using are already used on many smart phone screens and I believe the micro lens are one of the reasons why our eyes get tired much faster when watching anything on a smart phone. Obviously, the short focus distance is the number one reason, but I believe the micro lens focusing the light is another reason. Like a laser which has a low brightness but can damage the retina in our eyes because it's a focused light.

    I hope there will be a 4k mini led white brightness with sdr at 1,000 nits minimum, nothing less than 1,000 nits and like 3,500 nits with hdr. I wish there was more 5,000 nits tvs as an option like the tcl 115 inch 4k mini led tv since 1,000 nits is decently bright, but 2,000 nits would be fine.

  • @DigIntoGaming

    But does the increased brightness also increase burn in rate? I mean the objective reality is that they are organic, and organic things die. So death of the organic led is guaranteed and faster than normal. For me keeping a $1000+ TV for more than 7 years is important. TV technology is rather slow at improving. But we are already at what I would consider top tier specs. Qdoled 4k with 144hz vrr is basically all you will ever need for a fantastic gaming or movie experience. Not to mention the color accuracy. I've been using a tlc 43s434 from 2019 and I love it. Even though it's basic led technology. But as a gamer I would like the smoothness of 144hz and variable refresh rate. Also the brightness, contrast and colors of mini led/oled. Micro led is really what I want but I can't wait that long 😅

    • @absolutium
      @absolutium 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Having a 3000nit panel doesn't mean you are watching everything at maximum luminance output.. 99% of what you are watching barely gets to 800nits most of it wont even get to 400..
      So if you are watching a calibrated panel at reference levels.. it means your tv has plenty of room for longevity..
      Not the case with a C1 or an A80.

    • @DigIntoGaming
      @DigIntoGaming 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@absolutium yeah that's true. I guess that would be more the case if you were watching 100% white all the time, but even then most displays I've seen don't reach over 1000 nits fullscreen. Except for maybe some mini led displays. I know one of the biggest complaints people have about oled is the overall brightness and obviously burn in. But I'm more concerned about the overall life of the organic light emitting diodes themselves. Most newer panels have lots of software to manage the burn in, some of which like dimming which is incredibly annoying, and others like making all the pixels as dim as the blue because they degrade the fastest. I've heard some talk about blue phosphorus coming soon and that should help but it's also expensive. I mostly want my upgrade to a new TV to last as it's a hefty investment. I know the cheap tlc panels can have other issue like the back lights dying, but depending on the model it can be affordable to repair. However with mini led it won't be. I also like the processing power that Sony has for upscaled content and perhaps they have better over all components making it last longer but I don't know. The difference between the Sony x90L and hisense u8k is $400. But the Sony x90L isn't mini led, it doesn't have 144hz refresh rate. So it's hard to justify that. Also I could nearly buy another hisense u8k with the money saved from the Sony. Now for me the 144hz is not a big deal breaker. But not being mini led kinda is. But I know the x90L is a good panel despite not being mini led.

      @@absolutium DV is an HDR implementation that provides scene by scene and frame by frame grading of the content. As compared to HDR which can only provide one average over the entire movie. Having DV is a must on high-end TVs to extract the most out of the high dynamic range and color volume the TV is capable of. There's practically no new HDR+ content and DV has won this battle. Samsung stubbornness is robbing their customers of a better experience. Like I said.. no DV, no go.
