Fearless & Far.. I agree with you man. Growing up I seen this done plenty of times and even helped in cleaning the pig and the inners. I think this why I respect food the way I am now due to these experiences. And very true, I know a lot of meat eaters but couldn't even stand watching the pigs head. How irony life is to some.. I know it's hard for you to do it, and you deserve great RESPECT for it. Only the brace ones actually face this..
You ate a chicken a beef a pork its the same as you did on your video. As long as it is not a HUMAN😂😂😂.A real fighter is someone who fought or fight. #FighterBoys MIK MIK
I Respect this so much Mike!!!! This was an amazing learning curve for us all. 99 percent of people will never understand the true meaning of what you must do to have an animal from its pure form, later on ending up on your own dinner plate. For those of you that don't agree with what Mike did I suggest you stop eating bacon and anything else that comes from a pig :) Proud of you on this one MikMik 👏👏
Something you said in Kulas previous vlog that stuck with me, and I think fits with this experience...”It’s not about being fearless. It’s about feeling the fear, and walking fearlessly towards it. Knowing that if you feel that fluttering in your chest, you’re only becoming a better person”...It really stuck with me and how I’ll see further experiences. I’ve experienced it myself my first trip to the Philippines( I’m half Filipino/White) to visit my family in Pampanga and I was asked to kill and butcher a goat. I had that same feeling in my chest and I feel it made us better people. Not to say we’re better than anyone else, but better versions of ourselves. We grew a fonder appreciation for what we grew up not thinking much about. You’re awesome man. I loved this vlog.
Wonderful honest vlog. If people agree or not it is not important. It is your journey and your call. The most important thing is that you are sincere and respectful.....thanks for sharing.
At a young age, my dad taught me the same lesson.. he made me watch a pig being prepared for my graduation dinner. He taught me that I should always respect the food on the table because it costs a life. Thanks for being open minded and brave enough to do this, Mike. You are indeed fearless and far 😉
for us the "pig cutting" was the time of the year when it got cold, the family go together and we processed a whole live pig. This was our method of preparing fat, ham, salami, sausage ettc for many montths afterwards. Never thoughtz of it as cruel thing since this is what we had adn we had to eat. Also it was very fun as a famiuly gathering, spiced witth morning drunkness. Oh and the youngest family member ( as soon as they can stand/walk) had to hold the pig's tttail while it was being killed as a symbol of the youngest can hold tthe biggest power and opportunite. Also back in the days no guns or electrocute, the biggest fam member had to "rodeo" the pig while it was bleeding out. Tthose MFs can be strong and hard to deal with.
I totally agree with you bro. Im a chef.. I really appreciate that you mentioned how we the Filipinos respect the food that's why we never waste any single piece of an animal or meat.. You did great Mike. . 😊
If you eat meat, then you need to experience how it is to take a life. You will never take your meals for granted if you do so. When I killed my first chicken, it did not make me vegan but it made me respect the animal that gave up its life for my nourishment.
You're so right, but smushing an ant is very different, I mean it's still a creation from God. Big or small, all living things have a purpose. #RespectLife
So true. I've killed multiple chickens back in my home province and it just made me appreciate the animals that provice us with meat even more. For sure, we didn't waste any parts, even the head and intestines which we grilled.
I had my first kill when i was 12 it was a chicken. And my mom’s rules are: Prepare everything you need. Don’t let any other animals witness the kill. Be quick. Don’t let the animal suffer. Use as much of it as possible. Never waste food. Appreciate life and thing that you have.
Same, but I was 6. The fun part tho is chasing the headless chicken. The #1 rule is that we can't eat unless we participate in the cooking. No part left unused (even the feathers are washed, dried and stuffed on the pillows). Last rule, no remains on the plate. 😥
I have my 1st kill when I was 12 and I make it quick execution but the prey is still alive for 10mins. I chopped the duck head by bolo knife but it doesn't dies easily
Respect to you mike. If the animals gave up their life for us, we should appreciate it and not waste. Life is hard. Give and take. Appreciate and be thankful.
I respect how you were feeling, but our ancestors did it and like you said nothing goes to waste. Id much rather kill an animal for food and to survive rather than use it for a purse, or a coat.
For all its worth, what you had experience was more “humane” . In the provinces, animals for food are kept and treated more humane, they roam freely, they are fed naturally. I have seen you tube videos here in the US where slaughter houses prepare pig, chicken or cows in a more brutal and insensitive ways, where employees make fun of them, kick them, throw or slam them before killing them the right way. It is better to know how your food was prepared wether it is meat or vege. I eat meat and I learned how to prep live chicken was when i was 13 or 14. I felt the same way like you, but like you said. “I have to do it.” I learned how to appreciate and be thankful and not to waste resources.
too much hypocrisy in the comment. you people eat bacon, steak, burgers and hotdogs. where do you think they came from? he already explain it in the video but some of you didn't understand it entirely. you want to keep your hands clean thinking that the meat you eat doesn't come from a creature with life, well your whole life is a life. atleast he shown his respect to the animal he killed by cooking and eating all of its parts and nothing goes to waste.
Hi Mike! Pls don't feel bad about taking the life of a pig. We all know that the meat we eat almost everyday was killed by someone in a butcher factory or farm, it is just the circle of life. We produce the food and later on we consume the food & that's how you should look at it. Thank You for participating in that unforgettable experience you had in the Philippines, you made those Filipinos happy....EXPERIENCE OVER POSSESSIONS!!!🤩👍!
More than anything, I think we have to respect the fact that in countries like the Philippines, food is respected. Nothing (or little) is wasted as you have stated, since each part of the animal is prepared and eaten. While in America, food wastage is so common. You have a lot of food prepared and thrown away easily by people because everything is in excess (whether meat or even vegetables). So my issue is not so much the killing but the waste knowing there are millions of people dying due to hunger.
baddog its mostly because people on the west arent that appreciative about the food they eat while in 3rd world countries, food is held of high importance because of the lower standard of living.
Irene Reyes are you that dumb that emotions takes over your intellect. Yes, we are a 3rd world developing country and if you don't know what that even means then you can start googling on how countries are classified. Dumb bitch.
great vid..as a pinoy, when you slaughter animals, you will be appreciative of the meat, that nothing will be wasted. and you yourself knew where your food came from.. congratulations Mik-mik👏👏💢🎉🎊
I am starting to love and respect this guy. He has actually a big anf warm heart for every living things. His respect and openness with other country/tribe's culture. This is actually the real meaning of travelling. You don't just travel to give us the picture of the place's beauty. You are giving us the information and it is interesting. More adventure to come Man! I am just one of your subscribers that making me feel that "Finally, somebody is living my dream". Kuddos!
Powerful, emotional video. I totally agree with what you said, though. In Western culture, we tend to sanitize the idea of how our meat gets to us. We don't like to think about the fact that our burger or steak or bacon was once part of a living, breathing animal. But we should think about it. I've been borderline vegan for roughly a decade, but I absolutely get why you did it, and I'm not offended at all, and I can't judge you for it. I don't know if I could have done it, but then again, I bet you would have said the same thing before you were asked. Your actions fed a whole community, a community you seem to have formed a special bond with, and was the center of what looked like a wonderful celebration. Loved seeing you with the kids, by the way! So sorry I haven't become a patron yet...I will, I promise!
I once asked my Father why he didn't hunt anymore, as I knew he had in younger days: His answer has stuck with me all my life "Because I don't have to." Sometimes we may have to kill things - but we should never want to or never enjoy the act of killing.
Reading comments and as all your videos show, you are loved here. Too bad you’re leaving the country soon. Come visit us again (don’t wait another 7 years) More success to you Mike. Stay fearless and ‘near’ the Philippines😜
Fearless & Far nice to see you guys enjoy the view and the culture of Pilipino. I’m happy to all of you visiting my country and show us all the places that where not even yet go thier, but you people better that us you already discover all mostly nice places all the adventure. God Bless guys always stay safe & pray always. following all your vlog. From kuwait, OFW
thats the "circle of life" right there! also always remember, that in the Philippines, we have a Want Not, Waste Note, attitude, and also what Anthony Bordain respects so much about Filipino culture. the entire animal is used and eaten, from the blood, internal organs and of course the meat! thank you for sharing your life changing experience, and showing the happy faces of the Filipinos who shared in the Lechon that was prepared
I like it when u said “ and they said this place is dangerous...” i think its more of FEAR of the UNKNOWN. other country judges the place without experiencing it. You have my RESPECT mike. THANK YOU for showing the world how IMPERFECTLY PERFECT our country is😉 God bless to you and lookin forward to your futur travel vloggs!
Man. Exactly. Fear of the unknown holds the world back. Knowledge is what unlocks your potential. It’s just a quick google search, speaking to a local, or cautiously try yourself. The world opens up when you dive it.
Yes but many dangerous things have happened in the past. But mainly in far west. The maguindanao massacre of Nov 2009. And more recently martial law and the fight against ISIS in the east. The West and North have more of a history of peace. I will be in Mainit/Surigao in February as well as Manila and Sohoton. Maybe Camiguin.
Andrew Wilson yeah andrew a lot of unfortunate event happens in the past and recently, but i think what mike wants other people to realize is that Mindanao in general is not a dangerous place. I, myself havent been to mindanao but my friends are mostly from mindanao and they are totally safe there. I hope you enjoy your stay in Mindanao. and just like travelling to any other country, travel safely and just enjoy the moment. God bless man! cheers!
Much respect to you Mike! It takes courage to slaughter an animal. I think the more society learns about animals, the more people push others to be vegan/vegetarian. It's beneficial for the environment but a very hard transition for others who can't grow veggies in their region. But whether you're a meat eater or not, it's very important to know where food comes from. My grandpa had a farm and I've seen how animals were slaughtered. He hunted as a kid too and nothing was ever wasted. Seeing and hearing a pig die definitely changed me but I was more appreciative of the life that was taken to nourish another.
A great comment. I hope this video makes a few people think a bit more. It’s ridiculous to think of the whole world being vegetarian, but i hope the more our world grows, and the more food options we have, we can start to get away from the mass processed options, and more into sustainable and healthier options for our planet ❤️
Fearless & Far thanks! i was vegan when I was a student but when I started working, I realized that being one isn't always practical when I'm out in the field lol. I think it's important to ask ourselves what our choice really means on a moral and practical level for the environment and animals. I doubt factory farming will ever go away as global consumption and population increases. It can be improved but meat consumption here in the US can't be sustainably adopted by the rest of the world even if management becomes efficient globally. But with the right education, people can eat less meat to be healthier and save our world at the same time.
I grew up on a goat farm. We've killed and spit roasted goat before. I've watched my family gut deer they hunted. I don't think I could personally end a life at my own hand, but it's good to have the realization of where your food comes from. Being in a place where you get all your food at a grocery store really detatches you from reality. I don't have a problem as long as the animal lived a good life, was killed quickly and humanely, and as much of it was used as possible. If it were killing for sport or fun to watch it suffer I would be horrified. I'm glad you got the experience of knowing your food. With that said, was it delicious? Lol
I respect how u fil mik2x.. I eat chicken for 33 years, but there was a time I was alone and I wanted to eat native chicken tinola from my own backyard raising. All of the time I think I'm a brave woman, but reality check, I couldn't cut the chickens neck, I prayed, my tears keep falling, it took me 3 hrs, past 2pm I haven't had lunch , that was the time I realized I can't take a life, so I ended up opening a canned sardines.. The feeling is real and u can't fake it, taking the very life of it is somehow unnecessary but our ancestors did it as long as it was a quick and a clean kill... Thank u for spreading positivity and love to our country, especially here in Mindanao.. Be safe sir Mike. Salute to u mik2x u have a kind heart ur a good man.. and kulas is a very understanding friend.. Pinoy tlga ang aproch ni kulas kahit sa advice..
this is another example why fearless & far's vlogs are on another level!!! 💯💯💯 it not only entertains and informs you, but it also makes you think and empathize! good job and keep it up, brochacho.
haha i can empathize while eating pork bbq and lechon. i respect where my food comes from and how it is prepared (from farm to table). i believe that is one aspect of practicing proper dominion over other living things on this earth....respect, care, and conservation.
Eating the meat is almost the same with killing it with your bare hands. I thought for a couple of seconds there that you won’t be able to do it but you’ve shown so much courage and really done it. I think compared to the other things that you’ve done here, this is probably the most uncomfortable one. You did great, Mike! I’m glad you’ve done it. Definitely an #experiencesoverpossessions moment. Kudos!! 👏🏼👍🏼
I literally cried (cuz it was moving) watching you go through the anxiety and experience of seeing a life be taken as sacrificial food for mankind. Being a filipina, who grew up in the province until i moved to Los Angeles at 10yo (35 yrs ago), was immune to it then. Now w/ everyone awakening to their true spiritual connection to all life even animals, which we all take for granted, will need to treat animals with respect even when we turn them into food. This is why it's always necessary & a must to be thankful/give grace to the animals on our table, so we don't forget the sacrifice these animals are about to bring into our being, which will continue to raise our vibrations to Unconditional love. Not everyone knows, but we are all heading/shifting into 5D earth. Yes, a new higher dimensions, depicted in the bible as the end of times, but it's not the apocalypse or anything bad. You're actually there already, ahead of everyone and probably don't know that you're already vibrating to higher frequency in 5D, as being connected to all things in life already, and already pursuing your life's mission as a light warrior, volunteer who came down here, just like Finn Snow (as I was guided to him follow him, now you just recently). Here's vid that may help you understand what I mean, and hopefully it will resonate w/in your soul as the truth of why you are where you are: th-cam.com/video/U9HtZFb_VtM/w-d-xo.html
Don't feel bad about it Mik mik that's how we do it in the Philippines. I had an utmost respect of you. Hope you'll come back to the Philippines so much to see, it had 7,641 islands to visits. Hope you enjoyed your adventures in Mindanao. Looking forward to more of your videos and thanks for sharing. You're awesome and so does the fighter boys! Hope you guys will collab again in the future.
Oh Mike. I just wanted to reach into the screen and give you a big hug. I totally get it. I've been there.....mind you mine were chickens and a duck but still. Last I had lechon with my fam, the brought the pig and it squealed. I think the squealing was what did I for me. I swear I became a vegetarian for about 15 min.....but then when I smelled that nice and delicious aroma, i was right back in the game. Lol. But having experienced that made me appreciate my food and made me aware of how precious the gift is. And hell yeah we use EVERY part of it as you experienced. It will be something that will stay with you for sure but I think it may have brought you to a higher state of awareness. I don't know you but I am proud of you. Cheers and take care.
Congrats Mik Mik, you have tranceded above the status quo and became that much closer to the inherent goodness of being human. Taking a life for food and appreciating the wealth of that life is one of the most forgotten truths in the world.
This will either make you appreciate the lives of the animals we eat everyday or make you swear off eating meat entirely. We always have to be conscious of how and where we get the things we use everyday from the food we eat, the clothes we wear, the cars we drive, the phones we use. Thanks for making me put things in perspective
I was going to comment earlier saying it's usually a shaky experience killing your first animal that you're going to cook and eat but Filipinos have done it since they were young so it's more natural for them. But 14:55 in made me proud saying "it may look gross but it's more gross to throw it away". I'm half Filipino and it makes me very happy to hear that. Well done.
you did great Mike! its better to live knowing things than keep going full of questions in ypur heart and mind. . and each and everyone of us are here for a reason and a purpose. and for those animals thats what they need to do and what they live for. :) take care.
Mike has this heart of gold and a vision of a real good man. Look at how he treat those kids. I’m always been a fan of a person who likes kids. I find it really adorable and amusing. Never thought Mike could be this warm despite with his serious facade. Never thought he could be this fun and amazing to watch. They are so open to try new things. Keep it up Mike! I don’t eat meat too, I live there somewhere in mindanao, nearby to where u guys right now. And every time I went home my siblings make katay the pig or chicken which I appreciate it ,the effort but I don’t eat it coz I feel like I’m eating human flesh if I ate any form of animals meat. I even told my fam not to eat so much meat. I told them instead to eat more on seafoods and veggies for a more healthy living.😊
I love not just how you feature Philippine places for its beauty but as well as the reality.. Kudos to you "Fearless & Far", Mike. My support & subscription is yours. Take care & God speed.
It is not up to us whether to agree or disagree with what you did, it was your learning experience. The action connects you more to the food, because pork chops, bacons and hams don't exist as they are in nature, you have to "harvest" them and process them.
Hi MikMik, I was with you, feeling, all the way. I appreciate much every word you said. It is sad that one has to kill another specie in order to survive - you feel sad when you see a baby zebra killed and eaten by a lion, but on the other hand that is the way nature provides. God bless.
The first time killing for food is tough. Imagine if you took care of that pig (or chicken) from birth? That's basically what agriculture is (in contrast to hunting and gathering).
when I was a kid. My cousins and I have a very special fat pet chicken which produces lots of eggs. One day our uncles decide to kill it when we are all in school. we cry a lot. when they told us that the chicken that we are eating is our pet. we cant forget it until now we are 50's.
Nolsp I agree. My grandpa had a farm but after a few years he started to feel guilty that he got rid of all livestock and grew vegetables instead. He even stopped hunting and became vegetarian. He said he always felt guilty the way they stared into his eyes when they loaded then into the truck to be sent to the slaughter house.
Lol. great post, this brings so much education, passion, life lesson, squeezed in a 15 min video. kudos man! I especially loved it when kulas asked a poignant question when you asked him about his life, and in turn he asked you about your life...lol. I didnt know kulas can be deep in a normal conversation. But yah - this is probably one of the best videos yet of the whole week 1 series so far (i know there are more coming). This #fighterboys series is epic and hands down the best collaboration yet in the entire Philippine history of vlogs.
Dexter man. Great comment. We had a ton of fun during that trip, and we’re all excited to start editing. Kulas is an epic guy, he’s surprising in a lot of ways. Happy to be travelling with him again now!
First time I watched your video., Instantly, you got my attention I'm now one of your many subscribers. This country has many to offer beyond unimaginable, we're not perfect but I'm proud to say that filipinos has a unique way of being hospitable regardless, wherever you came from. Thanks for embracing the traditions and cultures we filipinos lived for centuries. I'm proud to be a filipino 🙏👏😘
I am Filipino turned Vegetarian almost 20 years ago. Vegetarianism was not brought or pushed to me, but it was by experiences of living in rural vs living in the city. In rural areas, where agriculture is the main livelihood, vegetables and fruits are the everyday foods. I can say that I eat more plant based food than meat in rural -- 95% plant based and 5% meat. When I move to the city or in Manila to study in college, most foods are meat especially pork. I have no choice but to eat what was available and it is taste good. And here what happened, after a few years of such meat eating habit, I started to feel losing strength in my body - I was a varsity player in basketball. If you are a player you can easily feel the changes in your body, your stamina, strength etc. I am easily tired and my jump start to diminish that I can't longer to dunk and it worsen overtime no matter what medicine issued to me by a doctor it has no effect until I loss my post as a part of basketball team. I become easily to ill and sick, that was the first time that ever happened to me. So I returned to my town to be cured and rest, my old routines of eating plant based foods came back. My body gains strength gradually and cured myself without taking any pharmaceutical issued drugs. That was a time I become curious about the food I ate that cured me. I started to dig about it deeply about the mystery of eating plant based food and I think it is worth to share with you. Believe me, I never get sick since I became 100% vegetarian. I never take any vitamins nor medicine and many always make mistake to guess my age 10 years younger. lol Here one of the excerpt from one of the book I read during my research about vegetarianism that make a lot of sense to me because what it said was my personal experiences myself. This might change your perception about food you eat. "Pythagoras’ contribution to western philosophy is immense. It is incalculable. For the first time he introduced vegetarianism to the West. The idea of vegetarianism is of immense value; it is based on great reverence for life. The modern mind can understand it far better now we know that all forms of life are interrelated, interdependent. Man is not an island: man exists in an infinite web of millions of forms of life and existence. We exist in a chain, we are not separate. And to destroy other animals is not only ugly, unaesthetic, inhuman - it is also unscientific. We are destroying our own foundation. Life exists as one organic unity. Man can exist only as part of this orchestra. Just think of man without birds and without animals and without fish - that life will be very boring; it will lose all complexity, variety, richness, color. The forests will be utterly empty, the cuckoo will not call, and the birds will not fly, and the water will look very sad without the fish. Life in its infinite forms exists as one organic unity. We are part of it: the part should feel reverence for the whole. That is the idea of vegetarianism. It simply means: don’t destroy life. It simply means: life is God - avoid destroying it, otherwise you will be destroying the very ecology. And it has something very scientific behind it. It was not an accident that all the religions that were born in India are basically vegetarian, and all the religions that were born outside India are non-vegetarian. But the highest peaks of religious consciousness were known in India and nowhere else. Vegetarianism functioned as a purification. When you eat animals you are more under the law of necessity. You are heavy, you gravitate more towards the earth. When you are a vegetarian you are light and you are more under the law of grace, under the law of power, and you start gravitating towards the sky. Your food is not just food: it is you. What you eat, you become. If you eat something which is fundamentally based on murder, on violence, you cannot rise above the law of necessity. You will remain more or less an animal. The human is born when you start moving above the animals, when you start doing something to yourself which no animal can do. Vegetarianism is a conscious effort, a deliberate effort, to get out of the heaviness that keeps you tethered to the earth so that you can fly - so that the flight from the alone to the alone becomes possible. The lighter the food, the deeper goes the meditation. The grosser the food. then meditation becomes more and more difficult. I am not saying that meditation is impossible for a non-vegetarian - it is not impossible, but it is unnecessarily difficult. It is like a man who is going to climb a mountain, and he goes on carrying many rocks. It is possible that even when you are carrying rocks you may reach to the mountain peak, but it creates unnecessary trouble. You could have thrown those rocks, you could have unburdened yourself, and the climb would have been easier, far more pleasant. The intelligent person will not carry rocks when he is going to the mountain, will not carry anything unnecessary. And the higher he moves, the lighter and lighter he will become. Even if he is carrying something, he will drop it. When Edmund Hillary and Tenzing reached Everest for the first time, they had to drop everything on the way - because the higher they moved, the more difficult it was to carry anything. Even very essential things were dropped. Just to carry yourself is more than enough. Vegetarianism is of immense help. It changes your chemistry. When you eat and live on animals.... The first thing: whenever an animal is killed the animal is angry, afraid - naturally. When you kill an animal... just think of yourself being killed. What will be the state of your consciousness? What will be your psychology? All kinds of poisons will be released in your body, because when you are angry a certain kind of poison is released into your blood. When you are afraid, again a certain other kind of poison is released into your blood. And when you are being killed, that is the utmost in fear, anger. All the glands in your body release all their poison. And man goes on living on that poisoned meat. If it keeps you angry, violent, aggressive, it is not strange; it is natural. Whenever you live on killing, you don’t have any respect for life; you are inimical to life. If you destroy Picasso’s paintings, you cannot be very respectful towards Picasso - it is impossible. And the very idea that just for food, just for taste, you can destroy life, is so ugly. It is impossible to believe that man goes on doing it. Pythagoras was the first to introduce vegetarianism to the West. It is of profound depth for man to learn how to live in friendship with nature, in friendship with creatures. That becomes the foundation. And only on that foundation can you base your prayer, your meditativeness. You can watch it in yourself: when you eat meat, meditation will be found to be more and more difficult. It is an unavoidable fact that if you want to meditate, if you want to become thoughtless, if you want to become light - so light that the earth cannot pull you downwards, so light that you start levitating, so light that the sky becomes available to you - then you have to move from nonvegetarian conditioning to the freedom of vegetarianism. Vegetarianism has nothing to do with religion: it is something basically scientific. It has nothing to do with morality, but it has much to do with aesthetics. It is unbelievable that a man of sensitivity, awareness, understanding, love, can eat meat. And if he can eat meat then something is missing he is still unconscious somewhere of what he is doing, unconscious of the implications of his acts. But Pythagoras was not heard, not believed - on the contrary, he was ridiculed, persecuted. And he had brought one of the greatest treasures from the East to the West. He had brought a great experiment - if he had been heard, the West would have been a totally different world. The problem that has arisen today, that we have destroyed nature, would never have arisen. If Pythagoras had become the foundation for the Western consciousness, there would not have been these great World Wars. He would have changed the whole course of history. He tried hard, he did whatsoever he could - it is not his fault. But people are blind, people are deaf; they can’t hear a thing, they can’t understand a thing. And they are not ready to change their habits. People live in their habits, mechanically they live. And he had brought a message of becoming aware. Great meditative energy would have been released in the West. It would have become impossible to produce Adolf Hitlers and Mussolinis and Stalins. It would have been a totally different world. But still the same old habit persists. We cannot change human consciousness unless we start by changing the human body. When you eat meat you are absorbing the animal in you - and the animal has to be transcended. If you really want to go higher and higher, if you really want to go to the sunlit peaks of your consciousness, then you will have to change in every possible way. You will have to look all around your life. You will have to observe each small habit in detail - because sometimes a very small thing can change your whole life. Sometimes it may be a very simple thing, and it can change your life so totally that it looks almost unbelievable. Try vegetarianism and you will be surprised: meditation becomes far easier. Love becomes more subtle, loses its grossness - becomes more sensitive but less sensuous, becomes more prayerful and less sexual. And your body also starts taking on a different vibe. You become more graceful, softer, more feminine, less aggressive, more receptive. Vegetarianism is an alchemical change in you. It creates the space in which the baser metal can be transformed into gold."
Jojo Carbo I used to be vegetarian, but looking back I now realize that I wasn’t eating right. Even as a vegetarian one still has to eat right. I may go back to being vegetarian again. And if I do, I’ll make sure to do it right. Thanks for your informative post.
It was amazing moment that u met Kulas also in the Philippines,I and my fellow Filipinos love Kulas and I may say Filipinos are loving you now too, your sincere, jolly and friendly man, like Kulas,… Mabuhay ! Maraming Salamat po🙂
Hi Mike - You’re a trooper. So, so proud of you. I grow up in the phils and you reminded me about my childhood. Love your shows. I’m glad you covered the phils. Keep it coming.
Hey Mike, I live in Toronto for almost 13 years and never missed Filipino foods. We can actually buy them in Filipino or Chinese stores in the city like those pig intestines. However, as a true-blooded Filipino, nothing is better than the real food in my homeland. I miss the Philippines very much and will be in my heart forever. 😘💙❤️🇵🇭
I like how you tackled a difficult situation. I personally think nothing is wrong in eating meat and lechon. As long as you respect your food and where it came from. A lot of people don't care where their food comes from and what's even worse is they waste food (meat and vegetables alike). It is sad though that not all animals get to enjoy a carefree life before being taken to be the food on our tables. And a lot of people should be more conscious of that fact, not to criticize their personal choices but to remind them to give importance to the food they eat. You've been brave throughout. Respect to you.
I love all your content bro!! My best friend is Filipino and came to England 15 years ago, he would tell me stories of the whole village roasting pigs on the beach and I could never really understand how truly beautiful it would it be, thank you for giving me an insight of his life... what a beautiful country and beautiful culture ❤
I'm from Mindanao, Mati City Davao Oriental Philippines. Watching you from Cairo, Egypt originally from Davao City the Philippines. Enjoy your time guys in my beautiful country. ❤️🇵🇭🇪🇬
Much respect for taking that leap. As a Filipino who grew up in the province, we were taught to respect the food that we have on our table and the animal who gave its life to nourish us.
Cow-beef Goat-lamb Chicken Pig-pork or anykind of animals we did that I mean kiled/kill them for food.Food chain in science but in real is just to survive from hunger.Even the rice you killed it many times, first plant it fertilize it then harvest then alot of things to clean it.After that you cook it then eat it😂.Sometimes Mike we have to deal to survive but you have alot of choices also.As long as you never hurt someone, I mean you can replace a pig a chicken but a human's heart nope.So treasure those HEARTS that loves you.TAKE CARE MIKE and THANK YOU FOR LOVING THE PHILIPPINES.ENJOY EVERY MOMENTS OF YOUR LIFE TOO❤❤❤❤
Correct me if i am wrong.. So the main point of the video is realizing that in order for us to live, life should be taken. It's not just an animal, it's not just the pig per si-all that nourish human being has life-both plants and animals. When it dawns on us where our food comes from, you will be thankful. You will not resort in food wastage (as what Mike said). Respect to animals is not just shown, by not consuming meat(food chain is reality). So let's have another perspective-don't waste food. Be thankful. And eat with a glad heart. After all when we die, our body rots, decompose and gives nutrients to the soil as well-where the plants grow and as they grow, animals consume them, and the rest of the food chain cycle continues. In a nutshell, eat with a grateful heart and dont waste food. :)
you've just earned one super impressed subscriber here. im sure that pig was smiling from ear to ear 😉 I myself was an accomplice of slaughtering a chicken. I was crying while holding its wings until its final squeal. Respected life in all its form ever since. you're indeed living up to your monicker. Fearless--of overcoming this feat which others would never dare to do, and Far-- from being an ordinary vlogger coz i find your vlogs with more in depth content. good job mikmik!!! 👊
You where very brave to do it...thats why Filipinos have so much respect for our food...whether meat, vegetables, fruit or rice... we dont put food it into waste...we're very gratefull God put all of them in this earth for all his creation...its the circle of life 🙏🙏🙏
I appreciate you Mike. Great job Mike! I spent 10 year if my early life in a small village in Michoacán, México. We had to slaughter our animals to eat, and nothing was wasted. I appreciate you, bro.
I admire your courage to take a life to celebrate life. I know it’s ironic, I don’t think i can do it or maybe I can given the chance. I’m from Davao City now living in Florida (we still order it here) grew up eating lechon during celebrations but, have not done what you did. 👍👍
A huge life lesson Mike! We often take for granted the meat we buy and eat without understanding the life that was sacrificed for us to do so. Props bro!
Sitting here and Watch at my Laptop. then pop up this vid ill already watch this 3 times. Man, it takes 1 Hour just to read all of these comments. Great Job Mike. appreciated what you've done.
I SALUTE YOU!.. I have been waiting to see this video ever since I've watched the vlog of Kulas saying that you will be slaughtering the pig for lechon..I know it wasn't that easy but, yeah!.. you have gone beyond your limits to slaughter a pig.. Now you have evolved to a better human being, that is able to appreciate more the foods that you get to eat everyday.. High Five Mike!..
Thank you. It was something I had to do. I’m happy I did it, and it changed me. I’m not becoming vegetarian, but I’m making better meat choices in the future. Also realizing I don’t have to have meat 3 meals a day
Do you agree with what I did? If not, Why? 😕
More BTS footage here: www.patreon.com/fearlessandfar
i agree with you mik-mik, in the old days everyone butchers their own meat, so it's not a big deal. anyway i'm looking forward to your skylab vlog.
Respect to you mike!
Agree,... I only killed a chicken before, for adobo🙂
I Respect this so much Mike!!!! This was an amazing learning curve for us all.
99 percent of people will never understand the true meaning of what you must do to have an animal from its pure form, later on ending up on your own dinner plate.
For those of you that don't agree with what Mike did I suggest you stop eating bacon and anything else that comes from a pig :)
Proud of you on this one MikMik 👏👏
Bret Maverick Lechon is so good lol the people that don’t understand probably eat hotdogs without a care
Bret Maverick yeah your 101% right bit bit...😉🤔
Nice vedio..am from bislig city
Jade Barao at exactly. hotdogs came from meat too. Haha!
Get over it!!!
Well said.
Nailed it!
"not about being fearless. It's about feeling the fear" whoa. Nice one.
What about the fear that goat felt before you killed it?
@@berniasd012 No no much though here at all
@@whiteleopard1713 come again? :D dont understand what you are saying
I'm a native from Canada and we are taught this also. Always respect the animal you are eating.
Me too. When i killed my first chicken i thank God for giving us meat to eat. (I love meat)
Very true... I love meat but when you get to see the whole process for yourself it’s so much different you appreciate more .
Even fishes are meat.
I had my first kill when i was 12 it was a chicken. And my mom’s rules are:
Prepare everything you need.
Don’t let any other animals witness the kill.
Be quick. Don’t let the animal suffer.
Use as much of it as possible.
Never waste food.
Appreciate life and thing that you have.
chinee desabille wow..so true
chinee desabille , your mom was wise to impart those rules to you🙏
same for me.. and it actually takes a lot of skill.. from slaughtering to butchering and prepping to get the most out of the animal..
But the animal didn't gave up its life, no one asked it. The humans took the animal's life.
I respect how you were feeling, but our ancestors did it and like you said nothing goes to waste. Id much rather kill an animal for food and to survive rather than use it for a purse, or a coat.
Still the same bro, you just sell it to survive.
All of our ancestors killed… but now we just rely on a few factory workers
This is a great comment. Thank you so much for posting. It’s exactly how I feel.
LovesCherylBlossom yap and they get paid lots of $$$$$ for killing his precious pig he’ll be ok my friend
Exactly. These people take pride in the animal they cook. And they make the animal a part of their feast for their friends. Mabuhay!!!!!
too much hypocrisy in the comment.
you people eat bacon, steak, burgers and hotdogs. where do you think they came from?
he already explain it in the video but some of you didn't understand it entirely.
you want to keep your hands clean thinking that the meat you eat doesn't come from a creature with life, well your whole life is a life.
atleast he shown his respect to the animal he killed by cooking and eating all of its parts and nothing goes to waste.
* lie
👍🏼
pig and all animal is forbidden to eat.. choose vegan instead
+Kiki well sorry. im not vegan. and never will be.
Kiki eating pig and other animals are not forbidden. The vegan only think that way
Hahaha aww buddy this was quite the experience.
Yeah man. Missing it all already!
Daniel Marsh 😍😍
Daniel Marsh watching your video
Hello daniel
U naughty haha bit bit have a nice dream almost kiss his bride haha 😂 then u there like night mare haha
I am a Filipino and I appreciate you of embracing our culture
Ps. Thanks for waking me up 😂😑😴
wahahah he surely did bret!
Bret Maverick you were pissed! 😂😂😂
Haha
They should have use water to wake u up instead of tickeling u😂😂😂peace🤣🤣🤣
hahaha
More than anything, I think we have to respect the fact that in countries like the Philippines, food is respected. Nothing (or little) is wasted as you have stated, since each part of the animal is prepared and eaten. While in America, food wastage is so common. You have a lot of food prepared and thrown away easily by people because everything is in excess (whether meat or even vegetables). So my issue is not so much the killing but the waste knowing there are millions of people dying due to hunger.
exactly. I agree with you.
baddog its mostly because people on the west arent that appreciative about the food they eat while in 3rd world countries, food is held of high importance because of the lower standard of living.
Denn O Saur 3rd world? Labelling one country as 3rd or 1st or no class is rudeness.
Irene Reyes are you that dumb that emotions takes over your intellect. Yes, we are a 3rd world developing country and if you don't know what that even means then you can start googling on how countries are classified. Dumb bitch.
Irene Reyes no such thing as "no class". That's rude? Well fuck your feelings then.
great vid..as a pinoy, when you slaughter animals, you will be appreciative of the meat, that nothing will be wasted. and you yourself knew where your food came from.. congratulations Mik-mik👏👏💢🎉🎊
I think that is the best way. A life should be appreciated.
Ever seen a Slaughter house. Way more disturbing than what I just saw
Damn. This comment is epic and moving. Props to you!
Thank you!
I once asked my Father why he didn't hunt anymore, as I knew he had in younger days: His answer has stuck with me all my life "Because I don't have to." Sometimes we may have to kill things - but we should never want to or never enjoy the act of killing.
Chris Rasmussen I agree to that Sir. 👍
👍🏻
Reading comments and as all your videos show, you are loved here. Too bad you’re leaving the country soon. Come visit us again (don’t wait another 7 years) More success to you Mike. Stay fearless and ‘near’ the Philippines😜
I will 100% be back. Just wait :)
we already miss you mike, we wont forget theres name mikmik who dropped in th PH.
Awwh he is not staying in phil? Unlike brett, dan and finn?
I Am Happy And I Deserve It i know dan and finn are living in the philippines but bret is too?
Now you learned the most valuable lesson in life. Respect.
Mike has a beautiful soul and a golden heart
thats the "circle of life" right there! also always remember, that in the Philippines, we have a Want Not, Waste Note, attitude, and also what Anthony Bordain respects so much about Filipino culture. the entire animal is used and eaten, from the blood, internal organs and of course the meat! thank you for sharing your life changing experience, and showing the happy faces of the Filipinos who shared in the Lechon that was prepared
You just gotta love kids who can speak english in our country. Foreigners have no hard time communicating and interacting. hehe
God bless man! cheers!
i get you Mike... i feel the same every time i see people preparing lechon...my highest respects to you man
👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 good job mike... we Filipino respect you..
Nothing is truly wasted in nature tho. Even if you didn't use or eat it something will.
Lol
This is the reason, why i subscribe to your channel.. Congrats bro, You made it 👍🏽
This makes me happy Adrian! Welcome to the #FearlessFam man! Experiences over Possessions.
no problem man, enjoy your vacation
The Way U interact with children in all ur vedios shows me How much You are a good person in and out 🥰🥰
I've heard elders say it's good to experience it at least once... Teaches you to be more appreciative.
Jay G exactly what my grandad made me do on my 10th birthday.
Not with a Pig tho, but with a Chicken.
but still...
this is another example why fearless & far's vlogs are on another level!!! 💯💯💯 it not only entertains and informs you, but it also makes you think and empathize! good job and keep it up, brochacho.
Tydarius Shakiraquan McTurkelton III so no bacon and pork chop for you 🥓😋
haha i can empathize while eating pork bbq and lechon. i respect where my food comes from and how it is prepared (from farm to table). i believe that is one aspect of practicing proper dominion over other living things on this earth....respect, care, and conservation.
Kudos!! 👏🏼👍🏼
Much love and respect 🙌🏻🎶 thank you for embracing our Filipino culture!!! ❤️
It’s one of my favorites!
Your channel is soo underrated!!! Your channel is amazing ❤️

Mikes' vligs are amazing. Because the man himself is amazingly humane and intelligent.; and that is why I subscribed too.
We call pig intestines Chitlins' in Black American southern culture. New subbie by the way, and I'm OBSESSED!
Exactly Nicolle, and both of those are great ways to live. Appreciation is a key to happiness and fulfillment. All life needs to be appreciated
Well done.
Thanks man. It was a difficult day, but it felt so good for my soul after. Eating meat is a gift, we need to treat how to consume it differently
@@fearlessandfar can you visit soon in calayan island sir I am really a fan of you ...I really want to meet you soon. Sir...
you did great Mike! its better to live knowing things than keep going full of questions in ypur heart and mind.
. and each and everyone of us are here for a reason and a purpose. and for those animals thats what they need to do and what they live for. :)
take care.
Thank you for these beautiful words
I love not just how you feature Philippine places for its beauty but as well as the reality.. Kudos to you "Fearless & Far", Mike. My support & subscription is yours. Take care & God speed.
It is not up to us whether to agree or disagree with what you did, it was your learning experience. The action connects you more to the food, because pork chops, bacons and hams don't exist as they are in nature, you have to "harvest" them and process them.
those kids are awesome!
Hi MikMik, I was with you, feeling, all the way. I appreciate much every word you said. It is sad that one has to kill another specie in order to survive - you feel sad when you see a baby zebra killed and eaten by a lion, but on the other hand that is the way nature provides. God bless.
I am so proud of you mike, I have been watching you and you seems to open your mind in all aspect of life.
The children are always so comfortable in your presence is amazing. You truly are an amazing human being. 💯%
"I'd rather live this way, having done this with literally blood still on my hands, than live in ignorance my entire life."
👍👍👍👍👍
Happy to be travelling with him again now!
your so NICE person.... WELCOME AND THANK YOU for visiting Mindanao... god bless always...

I never take any vitamins nor medicine and many always make mistake to guess my age 10 years younger. lol
Here one of the excerpt from one of the book I read during my research about vegetarianism that make a lot of sense to me because what it said was my personal experiences myself.

This channel motivates me to face my fear rather than run from it. Thank you Mike.

it's better to accept the truth rather to be a hypocrite for the rest of your life. kudos to you bro for embracing the true Filipino!
You're awesome! You've made me realize something today.
Wow, this was a very eye opening and amazing video to watch. I appreciate the knowledge you share!
„Hello” from Poland ✌️🙏 thanks for your videos🙏 They are great, love them a lot. And love what are you doing 😍 I wish you all the best! ✌️😊
Your vlog is very informative. I am glad you enjoyed your stay in the Philippines.

Its a circle of life, we need to take other life(poultry) for ours... In order to live.. Respect
one of your best video's man!!
Thanks so much! It was a tough one to edit. A lot of graphic outtakes. Becoming Filipino did a good job as videographer!
I can imagine! looking forward to your future video's!
Cow-beef
Goat-lamb
Chicken
Pig-pork or anykind of animals we did that I mean kiled/kill them for food.Food chain in science but in real is just to survive from hunger.Even the rice you killed it many times, first plant it fertilize it then harvest then alot of things to clean it.After that you cook it then eat it😂.Sometimes Mike we have to deal to survive but you have alot of choices also.As long as you never hurt someone, I mean you can replace a pig a chicken but a human's heart nope.So treasure those HEARTS that loves you.TAKE CARE MIKE and THANK YOU FOR LOVING THE PHILIPPINES.ENJOY EVERY MOMENTS OF YOUR LIFE TOO❤❤❤❤
Goat is Kambing and Lamb is Tupa in Filipino...two different animals.
Chicken - KFC (or chicken joy for Filipinos)
Richie Rich alam ko po yon two diff animals pero both are goat-antelope padin sila related lang din😂 .ang kambing is closely related to the sheep
Mas tama kasi kung Goat meet and Lamb meat na lang. hahaha...peace! lol
Chicken - poultry
Lamb - mutton
Goat - game?
Cow - beef
My utmost respect for the raw emotions .....and sharing your heart, much better than denying ..
you've just earned one super impressed subscriber here. im sure that pig was smiling from ear to ear 😉 I myself was an accomplice of slaughtering a chicken.
I know it's easy to eat but hard to watch how your food got slaughtered before it was served to you.
Damn. Emotional roller coaster ride.
Yeah. For me too. Good feels bad feelings.
lancekaye hi
You where very brave to do it...thats why Filipinos have so much respect for our food...whether meat, vegetables, fruit or rice... we dont put food it into waste...we're very gratefull God put all of them in this earth for all his creation...its the circle of life 🙏🙏🙏
I appreciate you Mike. Great job Mike! I spent 10 year if my early life in a small village in Michoacán, México. We had to slaughter our animals to eat, and nothing was wasted. I appreciate you, bro.
That intro called back so many childhood memories when I still lived in the Philippines. Is anyone cutting onions right now?
no your eyes are raining .in love of your motherland
I admire your courage to take a life to celebrate life. I know it’s ironic, I don’t think i can do it or maybe I can given the chance. I’m from Davao City now living in Florida (we still order it here) grew up eating lechon during celebrations but, have not done what you did. 👍👍
If someone asked you to, do you think you could? I had to think about it for a while.
Fearless & Far” I will cross the bridge when i get there”. I think it’s more difficult to do it when I’m in the moment.
