For a start, marcotted calamansi is ok for shorterm but grafted calamansi is better, will last longer and bear fruit longer. Good luck Kumander! Calamansi is also native to Philippines.

Drip irrigation for the next 2 years. 3 meter spacinc and 5 meters between rows.of the terrain is over 5 Perecnt maintain a semlblance of level by doing a terrace bfore planting.

Good investment KD. This is what's best to do on your piece of land, which is hilly terrain and to make it productive is by investing in agriculture. Kalamansi farming is easy to maintain and not costly to grow. They can bear fruits for few years, until the end of their lifespan. Some longer term fruit trees are avocado, mangosteen, jackfruits, lanzones and mangoes.
It's great to see how you are diversifying your investments, Anselm! I never thought of Calamansi as an investment crop but it should work out great. The ones I've gotten from the stores seem to last at least 2 weeks. All the best to you my friend.

you can actually export the calamansi all over the world where there are Filipinos like me. It goes so fast when there are some in the store here in Tucson Arizona...and it is quiet pricey but we still buy it coz it's different from lemons

while waiting for kalamansi to be fully growned tree, you should plants vegetables in between to capitalized the land and the time. 2 mos after you can harvest the veges and you start earning while waiting the calamansi to bear fruit.

You may even start to study or to know how to make preserve calamansi juice in a bottle which is ready to use anytime needed especially in cooking like in marinating meat or fish. Aside from supplying it to the market for sale once ready to harvest, it is also good to make and sell bottled calamansi juice. Just a suggestion.☺️

Thanks Kumander D. I amalso planning to develop a piece of land Bai.. Been doing a lot of research and all it boils down is how to make it less maintenance considering the scarcity of farm hands. Things like possible mechanical weeding and of course focused/drip irrigation. Many of my friends farm projects like yours were mostly failures as weeds and other vegetation can quickly outgrow your plantings. The only solution to that is a system of low cost periodic weeding - possibly mechanical. Good Luck sir,

This is good project KD the soil here in the side of Agusan del Sur is suitable for Kalamansi. Nice you have many grafted seedlings. Time will come you have production of Kalamansi juice. You also add to plant Mangosteen and Durian KD.
Newly planted grafted saplimgs for the whole year will have a few erratic fruits. I never picked first batch the fruits of immature trees. Picking them will just give undue strain on the root system. I just let them drop when ripe. By the second year you will have about 2,000 fruit. The average output is about 5,000 fruit each ,annually. From 3,000 trees you have to take care of 30 million fruits. Most Filipinos, fruits are picked immature with very little juice and too small, se.edy Everytime we have a Filipino visitor they ask what variety are those big ones I just tell my visitors "I wait until they get bigger."
KD you could maximize your farm with vegetables and sili while waiting for the calamansi to grow.... and maybe when the calamansi grows big enough some free range poultry like chicken and ducks... mushrooms also.. with your future fishpond can make your farm a self sufficient home also

Point to ponder when squeezing the Calamansi fruit - - - Careful not to crush the seeds it leaves a bitter taste. Age of the Calamansi is important when due for squeezing. Many people harvest and squeeze even when the fruit is immature. The juice is scanty, full of seeds and super tart. The best time is when the fruit is still green but the blossom end is starting to show a bit of yellow. If the entire fruit is yellow - Orange, the juice will be a ittle sweet. If you get 40% by weight, you're doing good. You should get about 12 grams each .If you get North of 12 Grams, you are doing OK. When you ar already set 5 years on the way you can expect 14-15gram Behemoths. When you are already running the farm on steady phase youll ask for the Vit C content per 100 ml.

My biggest seller was the Calamansi concentrate, people called it syrup. It was thick heavy, 8 Fluid ounces weighed 12 oz. 1 ounce of the concentrate dissolved in 16 ounces of ice water sometimes a swig of CO2 but most customers like the natural calamanade. I could not cope with the orders. The bottle sol d for $5.00. , A bottle can mix with ice water at 8 servings at $3.50 a glass, you can see the restaurateurs' profit. I have a special pulp free syrup that many drinks at home with Rum or whiskey, It is crystal clear.

This land is still fairly low altitude for Hass avocado... But I'm looking to plant some in the highlands

This is good project KD the soil here in the side of Agusan del Sur is suitable for Kalamansi. Nice you have many grafted seedlings. Time will come you have production of Kalamansi juice. You also add to plant Mangosteen and Durian KD.

Newly planted grafted saplimgs for the whole year will have a few erratic fruits. I never picked first batch the fruits of immature trees. Picking them will just give undue strain on the root system. I just let them drop when ripe. By the second year you will have about 2,000 fruit. The average output is about 5,000 fruit each ,annually. From 3,000 trees you have to take care of 30 million fruits. Most Filipinos, fruits are picked immature with very little juice and too small, se.edy Everytime we have a Filipino visitor they ask what variety are those big ones I just tell my visitors "I wait until they get bigger."

KD you could maximize your farm with vegetables and sili while waiting for the calamansi to grow.... and maybe when the calamansi grows big enough some free range poultry like chicken and ducks... mushrooms also.. with your future fishpond can make your farm a self sufficient home also

Point to ponder when squeezing the Calamansi fruit - - - Careful not to crush the seeds it leaves a bitter taste. Age of the Calamansi is important when due for squeezing. Many people harvest and squeeze even when the fruit is immature. The juice is scanty, full of seeds and super tart. The best time is when the fruit is still green but the blossom end is starting to show a bit of yellow. If the entire fruit is yellow - Orange, the juice will be a ittle sweet. If you get 40% by weight, you're doing good. You should get about 12 grams each .If you get North of 12 Grams, you are doing OK. When you ar already set 5 years on the way you can expect 14-15gram Behemoths. When you are already running the farm on steady phase youll ask for the Vit C content per 100 ml.

My biggest seller was the Calamansi concentrate, people called it syrup. It was thick heavy, 8 Fluid ounces weighed 12 oz. 1 ounce of the concentrate dissolved in 16 ounces of ice water sometimes a swig of CO2 but most customers like the natural calamanade. I could not cope with the orders. The bottle sol d for $5.00. , A bottle can mix with ice water at 8 servings at $3.50 a glass, you can see the restaurateurs' profit. I have a special pulp free syrup that many drinks at home with Rum or whiskey, It is crystal clear.

Hi kumander wish you all the luck in your new venture of kalamansi orchard have a small house built in the area and have somebody keep watch and clean the area and it's smart to fix the brook for water supply when you harvest the kalamansi leave the stem on the fruit it will stay longer and make sure learn more on how to propagate for a well form tree and easy access not to bushy and not to tall tree and any disease that will attack the plant and see if you can plant other kind of plant compatible with kalamansi good luck stay safe

You should introduce bee farming like stingless bees to maximize fruit production. You may plant pineapples lined on the road and in between other fruit trees too. Good luck to your farm project
