    Lord have mercy! I've learned WAY more than I ever hoped I'd need to about the cooling problems of Samsung fridges!! Your video was very well done and provided many parts of what I learned, so thank you very much!
    I'd like to reciprocate and help you and your viewers as well! I've watched so many videos on this issue, some from handy folks like yourself and some from trained appliance repair techs. What I've learned is that there are actually FOUR MAJOR DESIGN FLAWS with many Samsung models.
    I'm not even speaking about issues with the ice maker or the freezer section. I'm talking strictly about the fridge section. Here's what I've learned from others....
    4 DESIGN FLAWS - THE PROBLEMS
    1. The evaporator cover plate (the decorative cover attached to the back wall of the fridge) was poorly insulated and poorly sealed.
    2. The openings in the back wall of the fridge, where the evaporator coil and wiring harnesses enter the compartment, were also poorly sealed off from outside (humid) air that can and will get into the fridge compartment. Cold humid air = ice
    3. The factory default position of the temperature sensor that detects the evaporator temperature so that the cooling feature can be turned on and off and the right times, is located on the wrong part of the evaporator coil. It's located in an area that is naturally warmer than what we would like, thus triggering the cooling to kick on too soon and not turn off soon enough.
    4. The factory original "evaporator drain clip" is undersized, which is why that drain line is very prone to freezing up.
    SOLUTIONS
    1. When you remove that evaporator cover, replace all of the factory foam that is supposed to seal the evaporator compartment off from the rest of the fridge. It's very inadequate. I even saw a video done by a repair tech in which he said that the number one repair they do is replacing that evaporator cover. He claimed they replace 5 to 7 evaporator covers... per week! I saw another video where the homeowner removed the fan assembly from that cover and used caulking all around where it clamps to the cover to help seal it off as well.
    2. Remove ALL of the poor quality foam from around the wiring harnesses and entrance for the evaporator coil and use a spray foam to reseal those gaps around those entrance points.
    3. Move the temperature/frost sensor from the original factory location and reconnect it a little further to the left and it will be operating based on more reliable temperatures. You can find details on this at the following TH-cam channel and video name...
    TH-cam Channel: Agglomeratedideas
    Video Name: Samsung Refrigerator Evaporator Drain Clip - Icing & Not Cooling
    Time: 23:35
    4. ABSOLUTELY replace that horribly undersized evaporator drain clip! The replacement upgrade from Samsung is part DA61-D6796A. I have a friend who had several repairs done, parts replaced, and nothing resolved his issue until he replaced that part.
    I HOPE THAT'S HELPFUL!!

    My Samsung refrigerator freezer does not work I already changed the motherboard and it doesn't freeze. You think if I change that piece you're changing do you think that could be the problem

      @SanDiego_VDubLife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure. This impacts the fridge section more but they are connected because the air circulates. If the circulation stops it might not freeze.

    how did you clean the drain hole if it's clogged up?

    • @SanDiego_VDubLife

      You can pour hot water if it’s ice. If it’s food or debris you can try a coat hanger or pipe cleaner

    What you’re looking for is an extra heater that they have for the Samsung so it don’t freeze in the back it comes from Canada. I can get you to part number if you need it it just plugs into the other heater and the heater plugged into that I was at Sears repair man for 10 years. It’s something new.

      That’s pretty awesome dude. Thanks. I ended up calling Samsung and they sent a repair guy out. He came out to my house twice and it still didn’t work. Then they sent another guy who replaced the ice box thing cuz of a warranty issue and it still didn’t work. I got rid off that fridge and got a new one. I hate doing that but wifey was done with that fridge.

      Unfortunately no. I had two Samsung repair guys come out and it still doesn’t work. I basically just unplug my fridge and let it defrost for a few hours and plug it back in

      There was a recall part on this model. Check that first. Call Samsung to check. Model number should be inside.

    How do I test that type of defrost thermostat?

    • @SanDiego_VDubLife
      @SanDiego_VDubLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t test mine. I just replaced it but if you have an ohm meter you should be able to test it. There are videos on how to use an ohm meter to test a circuit. Also if your ice maker is freezing up Samsung has finally issued a recall so give them a call if that is your issue.

      You bought this fridge for $200? Good deal. I probably paid close to 1k new. I ended up paying $50 to get rid of it.
