Didn’t know they were still operating. So many of my records from the 90s have the rainbo matrix stamp and etching

I want my ashes pressed into a record! That would be perfect for me since I've been collecting them my entire life!

Yo.....is it cool if I join you in the idea of having my ashes pressed in a separate record?!

The irony is the space will probably be vacant for a long time not making any money for the landlord....

It sat empty for close to 2 years after we closed down close to 50k per month rent for that long. Landlord was a tool.

Can't imagine ashes are a good additive for a vinyl record.

That’s a bummer bc United in Nashville has terrible QC for their pressings. Sad about Rainbo, I know this is 4 years old.

Lots of businesses are leaving california. Heck, I moved from Seattle to rural KY nine years ago and it was the best move I ever made. And there is even a record pressing plant a little ways from my place called Palomino Records. Rent is not a problem around here. :)

It's sad to see people losing their jobs but it's hard to feel sorry for the company itself. Rainbo was one of the worst pressing plants out there, I've yet to see a Rainbo pressing that isn't riddled with surface noise, warped or pressed off centre. Hopefully some of the better pressing plants around can pick up some of Rainbo's customers. Seeing their equipment go to United is not a good sign, they're even worse than Rainbo.

Third Man Records just recently opened a brand new pressing plant in Detroit. They mentioned United records. I think that is where Third Man Records used to get all their stuff pressed.
Meanwhile, the Third Man plant: th-cam.com/video/CcukGhELqPg/w-d-xo.html It's even followed up by a tour of United records, from back in the day where TMR got everything pressed there.

The US pressing of the Beatles stereo LP remasters were pressed at Rainbo but were plagued with quality issues. Many had to return them and still had issues with the replacements. I bought the German pressing of the boxed set and it resulted in the later mono vinyl pressings being made in Germany for the world.

@@peterx1957 Good lord, I have about 4 sets of the Beatles in Stereo Vinyl and 2 of them are still in their shrink wrap! Many of the records are warped. Should have bought the mono versions pressed in Germany, at Optimal.

I have a Beatles stereo vinyl set and all the albums are still sealed, but I just learned about the terrible American pressings this year. I was so bummed out. But throughout the years, I've bought the albums individually and opened and played those instead, and about half of them are European releases that just so happened to be in the store that day. I didn't know there was a difference. I thought for sure The Beatles of all people have some sort of quality control. But it has to do with Capitol Records getting their dirty hands on distributing rights in the US.. It's the same situation with Radiohead, who was also on Parlaphone. Now any time I buy a record, especially from a British group, I look to see if Capitol is involved. I just wish I knew sooner! I hope this info helps someone. I learned it from a great TH-cam channel all about Beatle vinyl pressings called Parlaphone Auctions.
And to think Capitol didn't even want to release the Beatles in America at first lol.

@@Itsthatguy24 This is probably why record company's do NOT want you to know where they are pressed for fear that you'll get a damaged pressing and have negative words about that plant. It should be just the opposite!! Make a quality record and be proud to list on the LP where it was pressed and made!!! But secrecy is still in charge in the music bidness!;-)

Still waiting for the Rainbo equipment to be used in Nashville(URP). The records being pressed by URP are still not up to the standards of Rainbo pressings.

Cannot understand why folks who have deep pockets and want to start a business do not open a record plant and make records!!! Record plants are all crying and saying they are all backed up for months on end, cause there are not enough plants making records!!

Imagine being the a$$hole landlord who caused this icon to close.
One thing that's never mentioned in pieces about the virtues of vinyl is the secret messages that were occasionally scratched into the dead wax area.
