  • Climbing the Arête à Laurence on the Jonathan Conville Alpine Course 2016. After the ridge we had lunch at the Cosmiques Hut before doing some skills and returning to the Aiguille du Midi for the lift down. Pretty good day really!

A great video Phil.Looks like you had a fantastic day. I am thinking of doing this route in a few weeks. What time did you set off to be on route ? Did you have to catch the first car up the Midi? I appreciate any advice. Thanks.

+Graham Bunn we got a lift about 8:30. It's not the longest route in the world so that gave us plenty of time for lunch in the cosmiques and a return up the midi arête. It would make a bigger day but it wouldn't be too bad to add on the cosmiques arête, but I'd get the first lift then. Otherwise my advice is that it wasn't too rocky so a rather light alpine rack was all we needed.

No problem. I can also recommend the RockFax Chamonix book for a route description & as a good starting point generally.

I have the rock fax book on order. It looks brilliant. Cheers.
