Bret Griffis Oh man.. if Sony has picked up Matsuzo Machida for Japan Studio's secret project Yoshida is really excited about but it's not Shadow Hearts I'm going to be in tears. A hybrid between The Legend of Dragoon and Shadow Hearts with AAA budget, polish, perfection would be the masterpiece Sony couldn't get in the past. Another title that will set up for a classic franchise in Sony's library.
Bret Griffis Definitely one of the most unique battle systems with judgement ring which keeps you on your toes. The fusion system and how it's ingreated in the storyline.
I bloody love the SMT series, with the Persona series and Nocturne being my favorites but SH will always have a spot in my heart for reintroducing me to JRPGs
It also wouldn't hurt to toss in some ideas from the Wild Arms JRPG series as well as Rogue Galaxy, White Knight Chronicles 1 and 2, and Ni no Kuni 1 and 2 as well, +H.Brandt.
GarretTheGamer You see, this is the problem with youngsters these days. Apparently it's great and socially acceptable to be an ignorant dumbass. I applaud your intelligence and intellect for liking books. Games are fun too, but books are the cornerstone of our mental health.

I remember picking that game up to see if it was any good and my brother and I played the shit out of it. One of the best racing games I've ever played, and I'm not even into racing games.

Thank you for the time you take on these videos, they are a godsend for me as a lifetime Sony fan who like most could not stay aware of all games on Ps, Ps2,Ps3 and Ps4. So videos like this are a huge help to make us aware of some neat games we never saw or heard of. ty as always :)
The Mark Of Kri is a hidden gem as well. Man I mean that game is really awesome. I just hardly ever hear people talking about it anymore. Odin Sphere is too but I like Kri better.
Blood will tell! incredible game. Stand alone complex, from the ghost in the shell series is a very good game aswell. Surprised not many ppl mention the game.
Blood Will Tell is an awesome game! I used to own that game. Cannot find it anywhere so I started looking on eBay. Over $600 for one complete in box! That's crazy! I'll keep looking for it and hopefully I'll find it someday at a more affordable price.
I saw this video a while after it was posted, and at that time it was still only like 30 bucks, it didn't reach 75 until the last year or so (at least in my experience). This video probably spread some awareness, but not enough to instantly make the game skyrocket in and of itself. Some PS2 games in general have been on the rise the last several years.
Project Sim Media are you looking at online prices like cheap ass Amazon, eBay? Cuz there is a game place in my area that still sells ps2 games and it's like 18$
Enthusia is a hidden gem for the 'race simulator genre'. 'Tourist Trophy' was a hidden gem to me. If you like Gran turismo 4 and got all 721 cars, you'll need to get the 132 bikes in that game. It really feels like a "disc 2" of gt4.
Cold Winter! I got this on a whim back in the day and my awesome friend and I played all summer (mostly multiplayer vs each other split screen). The controls helped me with future FPSs on consoles :) Also it has awesome hit detection plus the bodies react where they get hit.
MetalJesusRocks OMG...I freaking LOVE the Shadow Hearts series. It's in my top 3 RPG series of all time. All 3 parts are absolutely FANTASTIC, though part 1 is still my favorite due to its REALLY good mix of comedy and horror (it's the only one in the series with an M rating). Your also right with Blood Will Tell. It's is also another awesome gem. I remember when it came out the rating for it were not great but I didn't care because it looked very interesting. I picked it up and just really enjoyed it. It's actually kind of hard to find it now, and goes for about $40-$50 for a used copy (last time I checked).
Hey MetalJesus I watched your video and I didn't know that one of my favorite tv shows: Kim Possible had a PS2 game. I managed to snag myself a copy and have been playing it non stop. Thanks for bringing out this gem to light.
Thanks so much for the Shadow Hearts shout out. Although I will never admit that 3 even exists, the first two games will always be on my list of favorite RPGs.
Everytime I go to the flee market I never see games like this, ever. Everyone just tries to sell their garbage sports games and other boring PS2 titles for top dollar even though they aren't even worth the money they ask.
You shouldn't be going to a flea market for video games. It's probably best to stick to the internet and places made just for video game selling like Gamestop, though the former is still better
My proof is your own comment. "Everytime I go to the flee market I never see games like this, ever." Not really something I need proof for, but there it is
Finally someone mentioned Metal Arms... Jeez I use to work for Vivendi Universal as a payed slave.. I mean QA tester and that game is like the Holy Grail too bad it sol poorly
Wow I've never played any of the games you've mentioned in the video. Thank you so much for listing some great underrated PS2 games for me to play later. I'm totally buying most of the games you've mentioned. ^^
i've been buying/selling used games for years. I'll buy a lot of games, keep the ones i like, sell the rest, it's a win win. One day I came across ICO. I thought to myself, I'll test and try to resell for 5 bucks (at the time), business as usual. Once I started playing, work stopped, the room got smaller, and time flew by. It's not a current hidden gem but at the time, having never heard of it, is the definition of a hidden gem for me.
HOLY CRAP. You are literally the first person I've encountered who knows about Savage Skies too. Love that game. Solid aerial combat game with an awesome variety of winged beasts. Super underrated, in my opinion. X3
Psi Ops was an excellent often overlooked 3rd person action game on the PS2 and Xbox. In it you had awesome mental powers like telekenisis, pyrokenisis, and a few others. One of the coolest things to do in the game was control enemies minds and make them open doors or even kill each other and themselves for you. It had really good graphics for the day, an intriguing story, and spot on controls. It was a fairly common game and could probably be found on the cheap.
The folks at sony need to be fired. The 4 dosen't even have a CD music reader..... I sold both my original and pro but I'll never sell my backwards compatible 3
@@CORYSart I really wanna buy backwards compatible ps3 but I've heard they are loud and have a lot of internal problems. Would you recommend one to someone if they already have a ps2 and ps3 slim?
I haven't played the game but the Kim Possible is a pretty solid cartoon show and of the Disney toons of that era, pretty stand out and it should be able to attract an adult audience from people like us.
Respect for mentioning the Shadow Hearts games. The first shadow hearts its better than the two you mentioned, but the very first game Koudelka on the ps1 is one of my all time favourite games. It's brilliant.
Ape Escape 2 & Scooby-Doo Night of 100 Frights were dear favorites of mine. But Road Trip Adventure from Takara has to be a hidden gem. Released in 2002, this is not only a racing game, but has a massive world full of different terrains to explore. There are many things to do to not only get money for new parts, but you can fill up a book of 100 stamps to get the "Devil parts", a trademark series of car parts in older Choro Q games. Definitely a game worth looking into.
As a huge Ace Combat fã, i think he didnt mention it cos its not really a hidden gem, most ppl that like airplane games or airplanes in general, knows Ace Combat, not to mention how excelent it is :) The concept of hidden gem is when a game is really good and is overlooked or shadowed by others game of same type, for example Shadow Heart that is an amazing RPG, as good as any Final Fantasy, but can be easily overlooked by said game for this being more famous than Shadow Heart. Ace Combat is one of the best (if not the best) flight simulator still in existence for consoles in my opinion, making it not really a hidden gem, as when u go search for a fly combat simulator game, ur 1st option gonna be prolly an Ace Combat
Dude I grew up with Micro Machines V4. For a sec I thought nobody knew about that game, but you talked about it, so rad. I tried the new one on ps4, and it wasn’t good...
***** well, the developer who made it (cant remember the name) only made 2 games before they had shut down; Crash Twinsanity and some Super Monkey Ball spin-off. also, i remember seeing a comment that said someting like this: "Wrath of Cortex: 5 million copies Twinsanity: 700,000 copies what happened?" the comment i remember seeing was something like that. i guess they were upset that Wrath of Cortex outsold Twinsanity by a huge margin, and although i grew up with Wrath of Cortex as my first Crash game, i can kinda understand why some people dislike it. ill look up both games' sales (copies sold) on wikipedia or something and see if that comment was true about Twinsanity selling poorly
***** Traveler's Tales is the Publisher, not the developer. yes, Traveler's Tales is still arond "i think" making the Lego games, but the people who actually sat at a computer and wrote code for Crash Twinsanity are no longer at the same studio
5persondude Vivendi Universal Games was the publisher. They did not go bankrupt but Vivendi seperated from Universal. Now instead of games Vivendi works with music and films. Universal hasn't gone bankrupt either.
WAR OF THE MONSTERS!!! Jesus christ i almost screamed when i saw you put that down that game along with timesplitters 1 - 3 are pretty much my childhood
bummer on that last part dude also I played it with this girl I knew from the gym's guy and we had a lot of fun with it it is as epic as the rampage games lol
Man I love your hidden gems segments. Now that I understand emulation, I can get my hands on some of these that are difficult to find on the shelf. Now I just need to find a good PS2 emulator lol.
Dude do a video of ps2 games that dont cost and arm and a leg. Every game you talk about is expensive. Give me a list of $10 games......that i would watch
I'm so glad you threw in Psi-Ops at 13:03, I was starting to think I was the only person who actually played that game. It's my favorite PS2 game for sure :)
Stars wars battlefront 1 was my go to game when I was a kid I loved and I'm surprised you haven't revealed it to us in your videos. I thought it was amazing!!
man, kudos for mentioning Echo Night. Fantastic hidden story that leaves you with tons of questions at the end about the hell happened. Had two days of convos with my mate about story theories and which ending is 'real'
I quite enjoyed Blood Will Tell myself, found out about it from the Dororo manga, actually. I recently played Shadow of Darkness, which I found for $2, pretty damn awesome, actually. I preferred Ape Escape 3 to 2, it was a lot funnier, more challenging, and just more fun overall if you ask me. And Klonoa 2 must always be mentioned by me.
I am glad to see you put the Shadow Heart series in here. But did you know they are the "sequal" series to the ps1 game Koudelka? That game is an rpg and the guy one first meets in Shadowhearts 1 is supposed to be her son.
One that I'd like to recommend to you Mr Jesus, and that definitely fits in to this catergory, is Ghost Master. Sort of a puzzle strategy game where you have various different kinds of ghost characters at your disposal which you use to scare the inhabitants of each level. Quite unique, and a good challenge.
OH MY GOODNESS! You mentioned two of my favorites! I LOVE the Shadow Hearts games, and adore Vampire Night. VN is my favorite Light Gun game. Excellent vid MJ!
i gotta thank you a lot for introducing this awesome games especially Blood Will Tell even though i am a huge fan of hack n slash games i never knew this game existed i just played it for the last month and fell in love thx so much
I remember when that Snoopy game came out. I meant to grab it, but never got around to it. I'll thrown in "Magic Pengel: The Quest for Color". Think a super simplified version of the Pokemon series, but instead of catching creatures, you draw them. As you move along, you acquire more colors and the ability to draw more complicated monsters. I haven't tried the sequel yet because I was disappointed when I heard they turned it into a platformer, but I've heard good things.
I love Shadow hearts. I also played Koudelka on PS1. Growing up I was always a history buff, so the historical fiction aspect was very interesting to me. Covenant being the best IMO.
I have been trying to figure out Crimson Tears for SO damn long. I remembered the game and how much I loved it but could never remember the name and then I stumble upon this video. MetalJesusRocks! :D
Whiplash for PS2 is a very hidden gem. I never see anyone who has a PS2 in my area with it and anyone I see selling their old collection never has it. Its a great Crystal Dynamics game and I feel is severely underrated. Its very funny as well.
the blood will tell made me crack up so hard. I still need to play it through, but loved how it was like a substitute for the onimushas. I found the crimson tears in a store sealed and got it for 6€. I've played every shadow hearts game, the 3rd was a bit of a mehh, but I'm gonna replay it again someday lol. still waiting for new shadow hearts game to come :D others aren't much my cup of tea though. I think the ar tonelico games and ephemeral fantasia and evergrace are too under appreciated too. thanks for the list, it was a pleasure to watch and listen, I like it how you have calm pace when you talk and you talk so that even I can understand. :) most youtube vids have talker whose words I cannot hear and understand.
I would have to say, i would like to thank you MetalJesusRocks for showing me some games i would never of known about, that are both good in both a fun, and technical aspect. Thanks man.
I actually started a collection of PS2 games. I just originally started buying games from my childhood but then decided to get games I never played before. Currently have 120 games with 4 more to come that I ordered online :P
Good selection Metal Jesus, for me as far as survival horror goes I think one game that was overlooked is Area 51, which is a first person shooter. If you haven't already played it or heard of it, it takes place at Area 51 and follows protagonist Ethan Cole as he delves further into the the gov't base in order to contain an E.T. virus that was unwittingly unleashed. I remember it having very well done graphics for the time as well as a pretty amazing soundscore. As a kid who grew up with and was obsessed with The X-Files, as well as rock&roll and metal, it was definitely as huge attraction to hear the game was voiced by "Fox Mulder" aka David Duchovny and Marilyn Manson. There are some pretty interesting aspects of the gameplay that further proliferate the conspiracy theories presented, such as collecting top secret documents and movies, which you can review in an alternate menu screen. I always thought those little touches made the game unique and enjoyable. Furthermore, there is some super fun alien tech you get to use and the story takes some great twists, and doesn't fail to amuse. For anyone who likes shooters and has interest in fringe topics or conspiracy theories, this is pretty much the ultimate game, and hasn't really been topped. To add fuel to the fire, the U.S. Airforce gave away free digital copies of the game on their website back in '05, pretty damn sweet if you ask me! Anyways, I'm glad I found your channel by chance, it's fuckin' sweet, I look forward to new videos. Rock on man! Thanks \m/
Another gr8 video! Awesome shirt...it took me back to my commodore64 days. Space Taxi,Bird vs. Dr.J,Forbidden forest,Micro league Baseball and Phantasy were some other favs.
I'm surprised you only did one video of hidden gems for the PS2 because I think that, of its generation, it's the console with the greatest number of hidden gems, such as Sky Odyssey, Steambot Chronicles, Amplitude/Frequency, SOS The Final Escape (a.k.a. Disaster Report), Raw Danger, Runabout 3 Neo Age, Bujingai, Driven to Destruction (a.k.a. Test Drive: Eve of Destruction), God Hand, Kaido Racer, Haunting Ground, Michigan, Mr Moskeeto, Shadow of Memories, Spy Fiction, Castle Shikigami 2, Haven, Freak Out, ... and I think just about all of those were exclusives too! What a console!
MetalJesusRocks: Snoopy VS the Red Baron looks fun! I played both Echo Night for the PS1 and Echo Night Beyond for the PS2. I like the first one better. I'm surprised you haven't brought up Galerians: Ash, or WinBack: Covert Operations, or Drakan: The Ancients' Gates, or Spy vs. Spy, or Shadow of Destiny, or Monster Jam Maximum Destruction, or Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy, or Oddworld Munch's Oddysee. I played Dr. Muto and it was fun. I have The Thing, but haven't played it yet.

The 6th and 7th generations will always be my favorites.. love the 16 bit era too.

Respect for mentioning the Shadow Hearts games. The first shadow hearts its better than the two you mentioned, but the very first game Koudelka on the ps1 is one of my all time favourite games. It's brilliant.
rogue galaxy
By far one of the best Ps2 games.
Don't forget Dark Cloud 2 either!
Awesome Game!
once had it, but for some reason my ps2 couldn't run it properly so i can't say for myself whether it could've surpassed my love for dragon quest 8
...or Wild Arms 3, Wild Arms: Alter Code: F, or Ys: The Ark of Napitshim, +Imraan Shaikh.
"Dogfights" huehuehuehue XD
I love that u put the games in the description in order, thanks.
No one ever mentions Ace Combat
Agree
As a huge Ace Combat fã, i think he didnt mention it cos its not really a hidden gem, most ppl that like airplane games or airplanes in general, knows Ace Combat, not to mention how excelent it is :)
The concept of hidden gem is when a game is really good and is overlooked or shadowed by others game of same type, for example Shadow Heart that is an amazing RPG, as good as any Final Fantasy, but can be easily overlooked by said game for this being more famous than Shadow Heart.
Ace Combat is one of the best (if not the best) flight simulator still in existence for consoles in my opinion, making it not really a hidden gem, as when u go search for a fly combat simulator game, ur 1st option gonna be prolly an Ace Combat
LazyScoutJace - Have and still play part 4 on PS2.
Ace Combat isn't a hidden gem. It has a hardcore dedicated fan base.
Dude I grew up with Micro Machines V4. For a sec I thought nobody knew about that game, but you talked about it, so rad. I tried the new one on ps4, and it wasn’t good...
Crash Twinsanity. its one of my favorite games of all time (not exaggerating, its great), but it sold really poorly :/
***** well, the developer who made it (cant remember the name) only made 2 games before they had shut down; Crash Twinsanity and some Super Monkey Ball spin-off. also, i remember seeing a comment that said someting like this:
"Wrath of Cortex: 5 million copies
Twinsanity: 700,000 copies
what happened?"
the comment i remember seeing was something like that. i guess they were upset that Wrath of Cortex outsold Twinsanity by a huge margin, and although i grew up with Wrath of Cortex as my first Crash game, i can kinda understand why some people dislike it. ill look up both games' sales (copies sold) on wikipedia or something and see if that comment was true about Twinsanity selling poorly
Crash Twinsanity is my favorite GAME! I love it so much, I bought it on PS2 and Xbox!
+5persondude I agree! That demo brings back so many 2004 memories. :)
I wish I had the full version :/
Man this is one of your best videos. Great narration, clips from thegames and style. Very cool!
WAR OF THE MONSTERS!!! Jesus christ i almost screamed when i saw you put that down that game along with timesplitters 1 - 3 are pretty much my childhood
giant monsters beating the crap out of each other how could you go wrong?
THAT GAME IS ONE OF MY FAV PS2 GAMES ME AND MY COUSIN PLAYED IT ALL THE TINE AND I BEAT IT LIKE 3 TIMES and the game broke so he bought It on his ps3
bummer on that last part dude also I played it with this girl I knew from the gym's guy and we had a lot of fun with it it is as epic as the rampage games lol
I got that game from my sister friend
Man I love your hidden gems segments. Now that I understand emulation, I can get my hands on some of these that are difficult to find on the shelf. Now I just need to find a good PS2 emulator lol.
Dude do a video of ps2 games that dont cost and arm and a leg. Every game you talk about is expensive. Give me a list of $10 games......that i would watch
I'm so glad you threw in Psi-Ops at 13:03, I was starting to think I was the only person who actually played that game.
It's my favorite PS2 game for sure :)
you should play okami an awesome game
just got back into the PlayStation 2 again. good solid tittles to look out for. thanks metal Jesus.
by the way I wish it was 3x as long.
Does anyone remember Pinball Fun? No?
+Exploding Baconeer i do #blasttothepast
;-D
I don't recall ever hearing about previously said title.
love that Archon shirt. me and my friend spent hours playing that back in the 80's along with mail order monsters.
Ninja Gaiden(Guy-den)
Stars wars battlefront 1 was my go to game when I was a kid I loved and I'm surprised you haven't revealed it to us in your videos. I thought it was amazing!!
And rogue galaxy??????
man, kudos for mentioning Echo Night. Fantastic hidden story that leaves you with tons of questions at the end about the hell happened. Had two days of convos with my mate about story theories and which ending is 'real'
Dark Cloud, no one remembers Dark Cloud.
I loved it's demo so much I bought it when it was for sale in PS4 store.
Landy Lemon Studios My step sister was a beast in that game.
Anyone Onimusha?
Onimusha is heavily overrated tbh. And it's far from a hidden gem. It's one of the PS2's most popular franchises.
I am glad to see you put the Shadow Heart series in here. But did you know they are the "sequal" series to the ps1 game Koudelka? That game is an rpg and the guy one first meets in Shadowhearts 1 is supposed to be her son.
Rule of Rose!"!!
Arc the lad twilight of the spirits
12:45 Metal Arms! I was just thinking about that game recently. Glad to see it on here.
Also spongebob battle for bikini bottom and simpsons hit and run
I love the simpsons hit and run
omg thank you that spongebob game was the shit.Hit and run tho is a game everyone had.
ya
Don't think Hit and Run was a hidden gem as it was popular. Such a fun game.
HOLY FUK! BLOOD WILL TELL IS A $200 GAME!!!!!! MIND BLOWN!
OH MY GOODNESS! You mentioned two of my favorites! I LOVE the Shadow Hearts games, and adore Vampire Night. VN is my favorite Light Gun game. Excellent vid MJ!
Metal Arms, Glitch in the System and Mark of Kri. YES!
i gotta thank you a lot for introducing this awesome games especially Blood Will Tell even though i am a huge fan of hack n slash games i never knew this game existed i just played it for the last month and fell in love thx so much
I remember when that Snoopy game came out.
I absolutely love vampire night. 10 years ago, me and my friend used to play this game everyday non-stop.
I have been trying to figure out Crimson Tears for SO damn long. I remembered the game and how much I loved it but could never remember the name and then I stumble upon this video. MetalJesusRocks! :D
Snoopy vs the Red Baron I completed on the PSP. I'll get the PS2 version eventually.
Every time that Metal Jesus theme song hits, I smile so wide!
Whiplash for PS2 is a very hidden gem. I never see anyone who has a PS2 in my area with it and anyone I see selling their old collection never has it. Its a great Crystal Dynamics game and I feel is severely underrated. Its very funny as well.
My cousin had splash down when I was growing up and I couldn't get enough of it. I need to find that game again
the blood will tell made me crack up so hard.
Snoopy vs the Red Baron was SOOOO much fun as a kid. I need to replay it again!!!
Thanks \m/
I have discovered a few games to add to my collections thanks to Metal Jesus
Next on my list currently. Crazy that Blood Will Tell runs at $200 in 2019
Just bought:
Kuon- $350
Haunting Ground- $200
Rule of Rose- $350
I am sure people have already asked, but I would LOVE an addition to this little PS2 series. I'm sure there are plenty more hidden gems on this thing!
