Personally we have decided to go with a cat, the accommodations are just so much better, speeds are usually higher and generally less draught to worry about, also having twin engines is a bit of a safety net. Yes a good mono probably are the safer way to sail but you don't hear about many cats capsizing unless they are being pushed to hard.

@@TeuluTribe Yea, that's too bad. If you do get back out, make sure you visit the Darwin and Wolf coral reefs on the northwest passage. The Galapagos are amazing. I absolutely hate cruises and the organized trip idea, but there are 2 places where I had no choice because it is pretty much the only way to visit: Galapagos and Antarctica. In both cases, we are talking about a totally different style of cruises, educational, respectful of the environment.
Yes! The universe answers your calls. I believe the same. Happy to hear it from you. Great story. 😊❤ All the best to y'all from the Texas Hill Country.
Definitely worth going to the Galápagos Islands. Even though it was just for a day or so. You will have to schedule a trip there and spend more time. It looks such a beautiful, magical place. Have a safe journey back to Teulu👍
So happy you liked the video! The Galápagos Islands are indeed a must-visit (even just for two days!). Can't wait to share the journey back with you next week, it was quite the ride!
It was probably a smart move to fly to the Galapagos, even with the cost of airfare, because I know they recently jacked up the prices for cruisers to where it is crazy expensive to sail there.
I had a 49 ft sailboat, first boat. Loved it, but 4 months on the boat living basically in a 6 foot cockpit with occasional trips to the pulpit seats (center cockpit), but then bought a 62 ft. Cat. The living space, separation from other people aboard and lots of places to be together make it best for me. Faster than my mono, bigger, double redundancy on major systems, pointed to 40 degrees or better. I missed healing for about 20 min. Last time i helped with a monohull delivery, it was terrible being healed over for 5 days. CATS WIN
When you ran into Bob Isherwood on the ferry, tell you anything about himself other than his name? As a Kiwi I suspect he did the typical understated antipodean thing and didn't talk about himself - but it might be worth googling him ;-)
Well now you just gave me a little taste. We need a whole sail there and time spent. However I know lots of things have changed recently. Cats can provide comfort and easier sailing, but the possibility of a total capsize without righting is too much for my comfort.
In my humble opinion: Cats, & Trimarans with escape hatches.
