I'm a bicentennial baby. The 80's was, and is just as great as everyone says it was. The nostalgia is so strong, it makes me so emotional. I would give anything to go back. The Midnight songs never get old. Thank you.

If it makes you feel any better, I only just remember the ass end of it. This song though is basically a modern retro game. It looks like an old song, but it plays much differently. Is still good though.

Same here, I was born in late 1981 (almost 1982). I remember bits and pieces but wish I remembered more. But it's still the decade that I connect with the most as far as music, movies, culture, etc

I was a Punk in Los Angeles in the early 80's but always listened to new wave and I am now a singer song writer and these sounds take me back! They have the right nostalgic feeling! Makes me feel right! Makes me want to Move! Dancing in the kitchen while my wife cooks! She thinks I'm nuts but I'm just a 54 year old lover of music! and of life! C'mon guys! laugh! Play! Be silly! And stay young at heart!

Being a teenager in the 80's was like.....
-knowing there were big possibilities out there, without the jaded feeling of waiting to get ripped off.
-feeling there was a common culture in clothes, movies and music even though there were so many different ideas to choose from, so one day you were a new waver, another a punk rocker or both mixed in with rap music which was just beginning.
-sensing a slower pace to things because there was no instant way of communicating except by picking up the phone and hearing a voice on the other end...there's something to recognizing a certain girl's voice on the other side as she says "hello?"
and then just talking for an hour with long silences between topics. There weren't distractions in communicating with others.
-irony was an occasional way of expression, not a way of living.
-there was Fun!

☆Absolutely mind blowing, as a proud 80's late teenager i'm absolutely loving this new generation of Synthesis, Retro Wave 80's influenced masterpieces. I truly feel for those of you that feel you were born in the wrong generation, unfortunately technology & social media/reality TV have driven humans back to the stone ages. The love in these comments & appreciation for real music is truly inspiring & humbling, music bonds us all together no matter if we're born in the 60's/70's/80's/90's or 2000's.
We all bleed the same, cry the same and feel these grooves the same! To be honest I recently lost hope with the main stream music of today BUT i've found a new beginning within the underground tunes of tomorrow. WOW WOW & WOW! Of all the retro wave music that has come out over the past decade, I think 'Days of Thunder' might be the best song of them all. It sounds like an actual 80's hit song.
The first time I ever listened to a Midnight song it was Gloria in summer of 18. And I cried pretty good. These songs evoke that kind of emotion.

I stumbled across Miami Vice almost a year ago on STARZ and I’m 24 watched the entire series and I literally looked up “Miami Vice music” Laura Branigan Self Control popped up. The recommended list showed the Midnight and new retro wave then I’m like what the hell is synthwave and trhe rest is history. I know im not the only millennial (I was born in ‘97) that loves this genre. I mostly listened to hip hop and r&b my entire life but synthwave is great.
I was born in 1980. I remember many things, some have faded, but I keep them all in my heart, they are like photographs without digital, without smartphone, only film that I hold in my soul as precious memories. no amount of money will ever give me back those emotions I experienced as a kid, those moments, those days, those movies, those games, those friends. it was all great.

You know that a music is great when it can makes you FEEL it. Like... literally feel it... Ladies and Gentlemen, I dunno why but I cried like a child for an unknown reason when I heard this masterpiece for first time. I think that was the time when my taste of music evolved.

You're not alone, it does that to all of us. I mean, it's like waking up realizing we're living in a miserable bubble. Our future was suppose to be great, not stressful as it is, so what went wrong?
The feeling you had is called hope, good synthwave songs are not made to make profits, it's our last attempt to hold on that hope, of bringing back better days.

I love how everyone here is having a good time. We are just enjoying some music and feeling nostalgic about some memories. Nobody here is spreading negative thoughts, political opinions or something else. We are just a group of people who are happy and enjoying life (at least for 10 minutes ;) )
This, more than ever, is needed in 2020. A reference to a time most of us didn't experience. It shows the power that nostalgia has and its delivery from music is more powerful than memory.

Synth/retro wave hits me right in the feels, deep in that place I thought I'd forgot or lost. It's like watching flight of the navigator for the first time or any movie from the 80's. It strikes a chord in the soul.

I had not noticed despite me loving the don henley song.
I remember what I saw the music video back in the day in 1985. I was barely 13 but that song already made me feel nostalgic. This was the end of what I consider the "summer" of my life (the youth years) and somehow I could deeply feel it.
After that, it was never the same and my teenage years were quite dark, like a winter.
Fits the theme perfectly, so I'm guessing it's an intentional reference to that song.
