We need Synthwave to be a major genre of music played on radio stations and not some youtube only music that only a handful of people know about. Literally every single song on this video is like experiencing magic through your ears.

YES! I only found out about the genre a couple of months ago and its pretty much ALL I listen to. I love this genre so much. And yet, I can only find this on various TH-cam Playlists, etc.
The more popular it gets, the more the big corporate labels (Columbia, Warner Bros, EMI, ect.) will want to completely control and then ruin the genre. It's much better the way it is, under the radar.

No, it doesn't sound like it came from the 80s. Retrowave does have some similarities but in essence it's a contemporary sound. I'm an 80s kid and I can tell the difference immediately.

If you've got a local college radio station near you they might play it; though maybe you have to request it.
There's a synthwave radio station called Nightride FM. search it up, it's pretty good.
