- In this video, I show how to restore a completely worn steering wheel and make it look better than new. With the help of the Geist Steering Wheel Restoration Kit. It's important to take care of leather steering wheels as they are exposed to moisture, skin grease, cosmetic creams, and sunlight. Sweat can be particularly damaging and can cause the leather to crack or the colour to soften and rub off. To prevent damage, it's recommended to clean and protect your steering wheel regularly.
If you have damage and looking to re-color your black steering wheel, this kit has everything you need. You can easily refresh small scratches and areas where the color has worn off.

What do you use to clean your steering wheel?
Rinseless or Colourlock or Geist normally, unless has Alcantara then use Sonax Alcantara cleaner

Drive with clean hands....coat all our wheels once a week with 303...to protect the top coat of course...never gets dirty 😃

Pretty good Doug DeMuro imitation at @0:34 there lol. I just restored the steering wheel on my 2005 Honda S2000, and let me tell you, the previous owner must have been Wolverine. I had to use lots of leather filler before red-dying it. Not sure what happens to steering wheels, but they do get thrashed, especially on a convertible roadster.
a clean steering wheel really is satisfying. Its the thing you touch the most in your car and you stare at/near it the entire time you are driving. I use a mild soap and water with a microfiber. Usually turns out great

Brian, you must be psychic! My wife was complaining over Christmas about the wear on her leather steering wheel and wanted me find a way to correct it. Thanks for the video man! You mentioned reapplying dye and friction blocker every so often. But what about maintenance cleans before reapplying? Will any pH neutral cleaner like Koch Chemie Polstar be fine?

Hi, someone applied detailing product on my steering wheel and its been extremely slippery which is dangerous because sometimes it slipped out of my hand, it's been like this for about a year and don't know what to do. How do I get rid of the slipperiness and make it normal or mildly sticky again?
I guess I need to clean mine. The leather is pretty worn out.

a lot of the worn leather is from people using too much hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer has a high alcohol content.
