This song … means A LOT to my family. This song came out when my Niece and Sister in Law passed away in a house fire several years back. My brother, their dad and husband was a BROKEN MAN after that. I grew up wanting to be like my brother, he taught me how to ride a bike, skateboard etc… I ended up going through a divorce after 15 years right after their deaths. I moved to my brother’s town and we were both holding on by a thread. We used to cruise around in my car on back roads with this song cranked up and just SANG at the top of our lungs … song on repeat! We grew up with our dad singing in local honkeytonks, bars and beerjoints to make extra cash on the side. Both my dad and brother had that soul and rasp in their voices. I think maybe another reason why we connected to this song. I will forever have these memories buried deep in my soul and This song got us through some tough times!
Country and Soul as well as R&B have their roots in American Gospel music. Chris sees no lines and crosses no lines because he embraces the love of music from the heart.

Yeah, Chris Stapleton has been a songwriter for years, decades.. there's no telling how many country artists have sang the songs and made #1's out of them.

Chris Stapleton, Bruno Mars, and Ed Sheeran did a song together called Blow. It is a little mind blowing. They all sing on it and it is damn near a perfect rock and roll song!!!

He was in a Bluegrass band called Steel Drivers. This was the first song of his I heard. Fell in love with his voice. Then I fell in love w Morgan's voice and them together on Tennessee Whiskey.

My favourite song of Stapleton's is "Sticks that made thunder" from his days with the Steeldrivers. It's a song about a battle during the civil war, through the eyes of a tree that was situated in the middle of the battlefield. Amazing writing!!

You would enjoy his Tiny Desk concert at NPR which is 3 songs, very intimate. His wife, Morgane , is with him. Also, Fool Me Again is a good one, done on a songwriter cruise when he was younger. Amazing power while just chillin' on a deck chair. I don't know if you saw that he also spent time in a bluegrass band. He has great influences to go with all that natural power and grit.
The Steeldrivers and The Jompson Brothers are both great bands with just some incredible songs. Wish we had more from The Jompson Brothers though.

Chris started as mainly a songwriter. He has written for many A-liat artists over the last 15-20 years. He also wrote this song, and most of the songs he records, other than some covers (like Tennessee Whiskey)

He's written for everyone from Adele to George Strait, including co-writing 6 #1 Country Songs (that he doesn't sing:):)). He and Morgane have been at it awhile now. I don't know where they find the time after having 5 kids.

Chris was a songwriter for many artists. He met his wife Moganne in their managers office and when they got together she incouraged him to start singing his songs. And the Chri explosion started. She accompanies him on many of them aside has a beautiful voice as well.

I, like yourself, am a music fan. Not a country fan. Your reactions to Morrisette and Rage against the machine got me to your channel. I recommend anything "live" . Was able to go to his concert pre-covid and he is one of only 2 artists I've heard that sound better in person than engineered.
Nothing compares to you, and Do right woman are both incredibly done. And, were both done as tributes literally hours after each icon( Prince and Aretha) had passed. Dude is so humble and sincere and he just emotes that connection whenever he sings live. My personal favorite is Death Row.
He has mastered his abilities! He is an incredible talent. Elvis had full voice range, and I think Chris does to. If not full range he is close. But when he performs with other artists, you need to understand, he is one of a kind. Other artists should not be judged by his standard. Judge them in their own right! Love your channel!

One of my favorites by Chris is called Death Row
For years Chris wrote songs for other talents to sing. A behind the scenes kind of guy. I'm so glad he stepped out in front.
This is a song about people dying too soon. The studio version with his wife singing harmony is amazing. Check out his song “Daddy Doesn’t Pray Anymore”. He wrote it in about 15 minutes while his wife was getting ready for a night our.
One of my favorites from him for sure. Check out his Prince cover of "Nothing Compares To You". He did it live, once. It's jaw dropping

So many people these days think they can sing and call themselves "Artist" Chris can sing, play, write and I believe have no problem helping split a load of fire wood or throw hay.
Just saying this is as genuine as a real "ARTIST" can get.

You thanked the Songwriter who is also the singer, he is that rare singer songwriter. The man first went to nashville as a songwriter and has NUMEROUS number one hits under his belt that were written for other artist such as Drink A Beer and many others, i would highly recommend researching his writing credits and his time with the blue grass band THE STEELDRIVERS which he sang the original version of MIDNIGHT TRAIN TO MEMPHIS

I have no musical talent and don't know much about particular instruments. What I have heard or seen others comment about is that guitars are like fine wine, they get better w age. As the wood wears or ages the sound apparently gets better. I don't think that's just some guitar, I think it's a very expensive old guitar. Someone smarter or more knowledgeable than me probably could tell you what that is.
Reguarding the song writers, Chris I believe wrote this song. As with most of his own music. He actually was a song writer long before he became famous on his solo career.
I think I have seen that he has written over 170 chart topping Ng songs for other artist, some that are very big over the past 15 yrs.
