    I remember watching Neal play when he was about 20 in Chicago Billiard Cafe. He’s just as impetuous now as he was then.

    You REALLY need to have a pad and pen to keep track of the five ball race to win each game. Adding another screen to put the CURRENT SCORE on must be out of their budget. The LEAST they could do is to SAY "that makes two balls for him..he needs three more to win the game." Then the next player. They sit there not saying nothing at all most of the time anyway.

    How Neal got to the finals is a wonder to me. He one stroked almost every shot. Hit hard and hope was his plan. His one straight back off of the rail was very good though. Surely in his prior matches he played a bit more controlled. Anyway it was good to see bank pool introduced at the US open. Thanks

    i dont understand why the shot at 37:27 was spotted. that looked really clean to me. put it on .25 speed and you can see that 7 ball doesn't hit another ball all the way to the pocket, it got really close to the cue ball but never hit. that was a clean shot and Neal probably could have run out that rack

      Cue barely grazed the 7.

      i think they thought the cue ball touched the 7. looks like a bad call, shane doesn't have the sharpest eyes when he's not shooting. i think from neal's angle he can't really judge either. if shane only sees from the cue ball side, and neal sees only from the 7 side, neither of them can say for certain it was an illegal bank, it will be an illusion for both of them since the balls are hiding the possible hit.
      as always, these commentators don't pay attention to the video, but you can slow it down and everything, 7 comes clean off the rail. and the cue ball has ample space from the 7 when in motion..

      @Ronnie Civella yeah the cue ball did but the 7 never touched another ball from the rail all the way to the pocket. I swear, put it on .25x and you'll see the 7 never diverges from its path.

      I think it was an immediate double kiss with the cue ball, at least is sounds like that slowed down, when the cue ball hits the 4 next it sounds cleaner

      @UrbanKiddO 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You might be right.. the cue ball grazes the 2 before it hits the 4 that might be the sound

    what if you make 5 balls on the break? would you spot 1 ball so he can finish? or would you have to spot all 5 balls?

    • @Catski1jedi
      @Catski1jedi 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tyson Chu if they did make five on the break, or even if they made a clean bank but the cue ball happened to knock a ball in after contact with the object ball, then once the player had made all the balls on the table, any balls that were down from the break or knocked in get spotted. So if you did make five all five get spotted and you’d have to try and play position for that.

    Watching his other matches, SVB shut out virtually everyone he played.

    Hypothetically, what happens when you make 5 balls on the break and run the 4 others on the table?

    I don't play 1 pocket, but this seems as strategic as 1 pocket. Have to be very patient here

      i dont play 1 pocket, but this doesnt look like you need to play two way like one pocket. the better banker wins

    This is fun to watch and I'm inspired to play this game. However, I would not call a match of Bank Pool a RACE to 5 ! More like a slow. crawl to 5.

    If Neal didn't throw this, he should have.
    To shoot that badly and not get paid is a waste.

    I think playing safety in bank pool like the one Shane did @ 9:36 should not be allowed. You should at least try go for it but tapping it like that its bit much. I understand in 9ball, 10ball, 8ball,..safeties are much needed but bank pool a safety like that is just pure garbage.

    • @RedCR3
      @RedCR3 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Why should bank pool be any different? He's playing to win. He made a legal shot to put the other person in a difficult situation. Any experienced player would do the same if they don't have a shot.

      There are always bank shot options. I understand he's trying to win, nothing wrong with that...but that safety just seemed unnecessary.
      Hooking or snookering your opponent in bank pool 99% of the time will not result in ball in hand. Maybe a slight better banking option if the opponent doesn't try to do the same.
      The game takes a long time to play as is, again, nothing wrong with that but safety prolongs that even more.
      On the positive note, i love the game and glad Shane is expanding and think he's at his prime and finally got the well deserved Mosconi cup.

      Do you not have an issue with Neal shooting a safety? At 22:00 Neal simply pockets a ball in an attempt to open a pocket and give Shane very little to shoot at. Its the same concept. I can understand your perspective, but it is so hard in a tournament if you say no safeties allowed, to determine just what is a real attempt and what is not.

      Well obviously there were better options, i guess its all part of the game, patience and tactic. You definitely are right about if they're really going for the shot or not.
