      And players like Billy Thorpe make him feel he has to do that to win. I one watched Mike Sigel run 108 without hitting a single bank shot. The style of play has changed because of youtube. Players today can watch technique over and over and have many "secrets" available to them that only a few were aware of in those days.

    These commentators are very relaxing. Not the most informational commentary, but it sure is pleasant to listen to.

      really? sure it's very nice production.. but this is basic bitch commentary at it's finest.. get Jeremy Jones in there, or Karl Boyes, those guys know exactly what the next move is and why... these guys are just spectators with microphones.

    Around 29:30 commentator talking about Shane's income of over 100k/year like it's high, but there's not a whole lot you can be top 2 at in the world and only make 95k-190k per year. There's some NBA bench warmers making over 1 million.

    I have a few questions:
    1. What I should do when the last ball is on the racking point?
    2. What I do when cue-ball goes in, should I move it anywhere and do I get negative points?
    3. What happened when I got braking foul, what's happening then?
    4. Do I get negative points if I pot the wrong ball in the called pocket?

  • @capoman1

    7:49 I think it is partially mental. But it is also the mentality of percentage pool. In rotation YOU HAVE NO CHOICE of which shot to take next. You'll see that in one pocket or 8 ball, where you have choice, even Efren TAKES THE SHORTER SHOT when given the choice, even if the short shot is a difficult cut... So they feel the percentage play favors shorter shots. Both for pocketing and position.... Players THAT ABANDON this short game strategy, like John Scmidt, have far more runout choices. And we've seen Scmidt now break Mosconi's record.

    Apparently Shane stopped into Shooters in Burnsville, MN just a couple of weeks ago while he was near his hometown and visiting family/friends. I wish I would have been there that Monday night to meet him. In any case, this pool hall has 64 pool tables.. must be one of the largest halls in the Midwest. Apparently his hearing aid technology is designed and/or manufactured in the Midwest by a friend of his.

      He's been in some local tourneys I've also been in, and played him a time or two. He ran 4 of 5 tables against us in a team event.
      He's a nice guy, no ego, unlike many pros.

    Why did Shane break when Billy won the lag

    • @Vadawaterman
      @Vadawaterman 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      you dont want to break first in straight pool, as the break shot is more of a defensive shot in this game

    • @BillMorganChannel
      @BillMorganChannel 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Vadawaterman Awesome thank you! So if you win the lag you can "defer" the break to the other guy....thank you for straightening that out. In Nine back do you like alternate break?

    • @Vadawaterman
      @Vadawaterman 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BillMorganChannel Absolutely. As for 9 ball, break rules change from match to match, some tournaments are winner break and some are alternate. On the pro scene, alternate break in my opinion is best because a player is guaranteed to get their chances. When pro players have the opportunity to play winner breaks, if someone is on their game, their opponent may only get 1 or 2 real chances at the table if any in a short race.

      freetime is football 14.1, so you make 14 balls of a rack and intentionally leave 1 ball close to the rack area ideally. Rack the 14 balls and you shoot that 1 ball(must shoot it) and try to bust part of the rack open to continue the run.
