      Unfortunately cisco is no longer allowing just anyone to schedule access to VIRL based labs. You have to have "Level 3" access to be able to schedule access which is going to exclude most people.
      Really very disappointing.

    Hi David, I've been looking for a way to stay in practice with Cisco, but it's been very difficult. I tried the method in your video, but I was met with "Scheduling is currently unavailable for guests. Please ask a Cisco Partner or Employee to share a session with you." on the website. As you know, being in IT, you don't deal with the same issues or devices on a daily basis, so It's hard to keep up with everything and the costs of getting VIRL for EVE NG is just beyond most people starting and wanting to learn and get better, especially with Cisco. Thank you for the channel, I have really learned a lot from you.

    Hi David, first of all let me congratulate you on the great video. I’m just about embarking on my ccnp journey, and I’ve found this video quite useful. The question I have is, loads of people have advised me to use a physical lab over gns3 or another virtual solution as these aren’t apparently up to the mark when it comes to switching. What are your thoughts on this, specifically with let’s say dcloud as an alternative to gns3. And if I may chance my arm a little, broadly, would you recommend a physical lab over virtual? Apologies if I’ve gone slightly out of topic.

    • @davidbombal
      @davidbombal  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GNS3 (with VIRL images) or VIRL can cover almost everything that physical equipment can do. I disagree with what you have been told. Unless you are doing performance testing or doing something specific with ASICs, you could do your entire CCNP with GNS3 / VIRL. They are great for studying.

  • @zerodegrekelvin2
    @zerodegrekelvin2 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thanks David! one question though "does this make GNS3 less relevant ?" the only advantage I see now for GNS3 is you don't need the internet.

    • @davidbombal
      @davidbombal  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      These are scheduled labs. They may not be available when you want them. GNS3 and a local install of VIRL allow you to use them whenever you want. So, you control the lab whereas with dCloud and DevNet you may not have access to the lab when you want them (lab may be booked up and unavailable). It is also probably easier to save your work and restart a lab later with GNS3 / local VIRL.
