  • In this video I'll list the 4 best network emulators that you need to become a Super Network Engineer. Plus 1 simulator.
PS: Just wanted to make a correction about the difference between network simulators vs network emulators.
Network Simulators: Simulators replicate the behavior of a network by using mathematical models and algorithms to simulate the interactions between network components. They are mainly focused on providing a theoretical environment for testing and analysis. Simulators are useful for studying network protocols, traffic patterns, and performance without the need for physical hardware.
Network Emulators: Emulators, on the other hand, replicate the actual hardware and software behavior of network devices. They create a more realistic environment by using real operating systems and applications. Emulators are often employed for testing real-world scenarios, applications, and configurations.

This was a big help. My (fortune 500) company was being to cheap to get me a license for the Cisco CML. Now i have some good alternatives.

I think you interchanged the terms simulator and emulators, what you called emulator is actually a simulator and what you called emulator is actually a simulator

Thanks for that. I'll add a note on the video description.

Wonderful video. Thank you so much for posting this.
Quick question if we are following a class and the instructor is using GNS3 would we be able to setup our own lab in PNET and follow along, or do you recommend using the same simulator as the instructor?

I'd recommend use the same as the instructor. This way you'll have the same problems as the instructor.
      Thanks for your support

    Hey SIlesio, great video!
Quick questions.. do you know If PNET support updated images from different vendors (Cisco, Forti, PA, Checkpoint, etc), I mean recently image releases?
Which kind of platforms PNET supports? (Router,Switch,Firewall)?
Thanks in advance for you reply :)

Yes it supports. Spoiler Alert: next week's video will be a multivendor topology on PNET😉.

Thanks for the video very informative. I noticed on PNET that I can only use the MGMT cloud to connect to my network. Whenever I try to add another Network Adapter to the PNET VM on ESXi to connect to different networks I am unable to get any connectivity with the other clouds (cloud1-9). It could be that something is configured wrong in my environment. Is it the same for you? If so, do you happen to know of any fixes for this or is it normal. Just so you know I have the vSwitches in promiscuous mode and the network adapters lined-up with the particular cloud on PNET. Thanks again!

It might be a bug. Import pnet on VMware workstation player instead. That's what I use. I'm able to connect to different networks. Thanks for the comments.
