Just a quick tip regarding critical analysis:
it's not always about being CRITICAL in the sense that you mention limitations or fight it against another theory. Critical isn't always negative, you can critically evaluate a theory and deduce that it is working and is a great theory! and I think its a huge jump in grade boundaries to understand this.
Simply saying : (e.g., “Ray et al (2015) criticised this theory.”).
Is just a statement and while it appears critical analysis, it isn't. Critical analysis is going that step further and basing your evaluation on evidence.
A real critical sentence is like: (e.g., “Ray et al (2015) showed that recall was worse in x condition, which supports/refutes theory Y because of xyz.”).

Hello, I want to say thankyou for your videos on academic essay writing. I have just turned 40 and am currently halfway through my training as a Family Therapist. While I have passed all my essays, I have only ever received marks in the high 40's and I have felt very challenged indeed by the academic aspect of my course and due to never having attended University previously, I have also felt very insecure about my ability to grasp even the fundamentals of essay planning and writing. However, after watching this video only a couple of days ago, something has clicked for me. This 17 minute video has been of more help to me than anything or anyone else in the last 2 years, and you have been able to explain things in a way that has made it very easy for me to understand what I need to do to improve my writing. Sorry to be so cheesy, but I thought I should let you know how much of a confidence boost your video has provided me! Thankyou!

Hi@@davvyross3661 i could relate your struggles as im the same place right now as you were. Return to formal Universisty studies at this age is very much daunting. I'v just started Bsc. Psychology and studying as an online student is also feels very insecure. My exposure to academic writing, specially essay writing is very low, and im here to on 2nd module is for essay writing. I have no clue what to do with the assessment. Dont know whom to turn to. Not much of help. Could you let me know how you gain confidence into essay writing.

Jus stumbled upon ya channel at the start of semester 2....late January early February & found ya info 💥🎯 & so useful. I made use of the stuff you said & scored better in this last round of assignment,. only jus missing out on a First. As I got 67%, 66%, 68% & 68% .!
Not sure how it works 4 everyone else but @ 🐺 university it's;
70%+ = First
60-69% = 2.1
50-59% = 2.2
40-49% = 3rd
35-39%=PASS ...this year ONLY, AS IT WAS ALL 100% ONLINE, WE WER GIVEN AN XTRA 5% Lee-Way as in the past 39% was a fail. This year they have told us...you don't av to retake if you got 35% or above.!

thanks for video, I wanted to ask, do we critically analyse if even the essay question does not want us to?
When you wrote the critical point at the end of the para do you only do it at the end of each para of after every piece of evidence in each para? For example if you use three theorists in your para do you have to write a critical point for each?
Also do you have any advice on how to structure a ‘To what extent’ question? I only got 52 on my recent one and I don’t understand how to be critical in this type of question?

I’m a second year psychology student. For me essays I’ve never gotten anything higher than a 68 in first yr. In second year I’ve dropped slightly to a 2:2. I want to aim for a first but am still struggling about what I need to do. I do a lot of reading but still want to know what I can do to push me writing to a first.
