One of the greatest baroque conposers.for me,baroque is the best because of its majestic,grand and beautiful qualities.everyone has diferent values in life and so it may not be for them.but marcello is one of the best and consitently put out nice music.
Heinz Holliger reminds me my childhood (1960 s) during which I used to listen classical music channel on the radio. They played performances by Holliger frequently...

Hi Curt…the Marcello family in Venice were a very powerful family ….the mother owned the best opera houses in Venice…Vivaldi made the misfortune of not getting on the good side of her…which cost him dearly…this particular version is my favorite…the dynamics of this orchestra is outstanding…A. Marcello was an incredible composer …more so than his brother I personally feel…
I feel that Alessandro Marcello is the Thomas Arne of Italy (or maybe Thomas Arne is the Marcello of England). Both were unable to write anything less than fabulous music, and neither have the fame they deserve today. In fact, today they are mainly known for one thing each: Arne for his Rule Britannia, and Marcello for his oboe concerto in D minor.

Un grand plaisir écouter la Camerata Bern dans ces oeuvres de Marcello si peu reconnues et pourtant bien à la hauteur du grand Vivalvi. Par ailleurs y a-t-il.un meilleur hautboiste que Heinz Hollinger? J'en doute.

Heiz Holliger is an incredible artist. He records so many baroque sonatas and concertos, composes, and commands works from contemporary composers. n outsatanding piece is the quartet for oboe and strings of Elliott Carter, which starts with an H in the oboe - H as Holliger. Jis wife does the same for the harp. There are pieces for onoe and harp composed for the Holliger, for instnce by Lutoslawski.

These things are partly subjective.and I acknowladge that Vivaldi id uneven. naturally, he considered himself that his published scores were the best ones, which can be discussed since he could on nly edit homogeneous opus: haow for unstace could he publish the faous concerto fotrntwo mandolins? Nevertheless, I think that these concerti are more carefullt weitten in terms of hamony and counterpoint. Vivaldi was unique for the strong vital enery of his works. In addition, I must acknowladge that this book of concerti by Marcello is uneven too.
Vivaldi hada greater output and that may have made a diference.but i love that also about vivaldi,becausw he has so much composition.
