    There is a lot about driving tests I disagree with. Calling it a fault to not make a rear check when you have already done one is daft. As a driver and motorcyclist, I recognise that where the head turns, the body follows. You are likely to steer the car into the curb if you keep turning around all the time. Also, I see far too many people indicating while turning and not before. This is because they have learned the very stupid order of MSM. The order of Mirror and Signal are independent to each other in terms of safety and usefulness. If you use your mirror and then see it is safe to carry on, your indicator is only just coming on when you are already performing the manoeuvre, which renders the indicator useless and has taken away information other road users could have used. i.e. you know you are going left, so indicate as soon as it is applicable. Your observations should be prior to the manoeuvre and not be relevant to the signal. Just my own thoughts.

    I think you were quite nice on him on this one, throughout the video I was thinking why isn’t marking some minors, and I could see the dissatisfaction in your face. But at the debrief I hear you say he has a test tomorrow and it made sense, I agree with you. You didn’t want to hurt us confidence and decided to give feedback on the things he needed working on the most.

    At 12:40 he saw a car bombing up behind him and, not wanting to go over the speed limit, slowed down to allow space between him and the lorry and to let the maniac passed. Not a fault. Also, he was being aware and was planning (moved to the right lane to allow fast joining traffic on the slip road.) I'm a bit surprised you made those comments.

    It was my understanding that missing signs or junctions weren't minor faults, I've had pupils completely miss understand route directions and not be marked down for them. I also feel that when you said take the next road on the right you didnt clarify how soon it was. Alert, Direct and Identify? After stopping and you resumed the normal directions you didnt mark him for missing hos interior mirror when passing the parked cars. maybe I'm too critical? Agree with the obs reversing, but whats the rules on reversing cameras? /reverse parking manoeuvre: obs, he didn't look out the back window. Did I miss a serious fault for use of mirrors? lots of single mirror checks but a lack of interior mirrors? I should add that i was a grade 6 before I stopped teaching 10 years ago and now requalifying. are the standards different down south as i've watched numerous mock tests, both adi and L and have been surprised at the number of things not marked. yep, I know examiners are pretty fair, but we are watching these videos to see examples of what to do and what not to do. again, maybe i'm too critical, but at this level of test, expertese is expected.or at least thats what i had hammered into me first time round. My ADI trainer was a retired Assistant Chief Examiner. I qualified in 2004 and stopped teaching in 2013.

    • @How-2-drive
      @How-2-drive  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s not a fault to go the wrong way. If the candidate is missing clear information such as signs during the independent drive, they are showing a lack of awareness and planning, which is a fault.
      I thought his mirror use was fine, he was aware of his surroundings and responded well throughout the test

    @1:04:53 Roundabout Road ahead (1st exit) signal require approaching?/ leaving?

    • @How-2-drive
      @How-2-drive  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Would a signal have benefited anyone here? No one approaching from the 1st exit! 3 lane RBT, he was in outside lane, where else would he be going? A signal here is not required, but it wouldn’t have hurt I guess? Remember this is an advanced driving test so we expect the candidate to be aware of their surroundings and use signals when they would benefit others.

    Is it not necessary to handle steering by PUSH & PULL technique???

    • @How-2-drive
      @How-2-drive  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s PUL push steering. Aim to pull down when turning. It’s the preferred technique but not necessary as long as steering is smooth, accurate and under full control. Rotational steering may be used for slow speed manoeuvres or to control a skid where rapid hand movement is necessary..
