Wooden boat CONSTANCE is launched (incl. sailing footage)

- Ben Harris' latest wooden boat has been launched! Earlier - in the spring of 2022 - the 34-foot gaff cutter yacht named CONSTANCE was launched in Gweek Quay Boatyard, on the Helford river near Falmouth in Cornwall.
Watch the well-attended launch in this video which is narrated by Simon Wisker, who commissioned this traditional new-build yacht.
In this video, Simon lays out the design of CONSTANCE, which he developed with Ben Harris and naval architect Jack Gifford. He discusses the features of the Falmouth quay punt CURLEW and deep-drafted working boats, which allow for a voluminous interior and sea-kindly characteristics.
Simon also explains getting involved and hands-on in building CONSTANCE and what it was like working alongside Ben Harris and his team.
Watch as CONSTANCE glides through the waters off Pendennis Point and the Carrick Roads in Falmouth, Cornwall.

There is something special about wooden boats.
I hope she sails as great as she looks. Wonderful and a great piece of craftsmanship. It impowered me to build my own. I'm a carpenter and crafty myself.Great sailing.

Wonderful to see traditional wooden boat building still alive! I was brought up watching 'The Onedin line' series on tv & also knowing my great grandfather on my mother's side had served on the last of the Royal Navy sailing ships. We had his sea chest still, through my upbringing...

This is a lovely boat. I remember Curlew from wintering at Manoel Island, Malta in 1969/70 on our old yacht Fairbright. Tim and Pauline were anchored off to keep costs down so we didn't see much of them.
