The waitress story is so weird because even in her own video she says she apologized to the waitress but then says she’s lying? Why would you apologize if she was lying?

I wonder if it’s possible L’Oréal requested that she not respond- Because it is a paid advertisement and it wasn’t disclosed, L’Oreal could be sued by consumers who purchased the Mascara because they saw Mikayla’s TikTok.. and they’ve been in trouble in the past for not disclosing… so I doubt L’Oréal wants her to - in anyway- confirm that she had on lashes. Just a thought. 🤔 either way- her flippant attitude about the whole thing is pretty gross.

Linguist here: regarding her accent over time, it's very common for people to assimilate as much as possible into the standard prestige dialect. Most accents and dialects are viewed pejoratively and so speakers of them will often try to mask them as much as possible until they have some sort of social, economic, or political prestige. Now that she's a huge TikToker, she has no need to mask it. As for its authenticity, it's a very robust South Boston accent but it sounds natural. Her pronunciation is consistent and not strained. I did a study in dialectology in Boston a few years ago and there are still plenty of people that talk like this, from all age groups.
However, a Boston accent does not preclude you from lying about your lashes like her ass did.

A lot of her stans are just blindly defending her "its just mascara" and its like yeah its just mascara but don't you feel let down? she was one of the ones that kept it real and talked about brands lying and it just hurts to know that these influencers think we are stupid. I agree some will defend everything she does, but some were trying to make a different point. I believe it was Fannita on Tiktok who basically said something like "Mikayla doesn't owe a lot of you an apology because y'all ran to a racist over some mascara." So they'll excuse someone with a racist history(Jeffree) but draw the line at lying about mascara, I feel like that was the point her stans are trying to make.

For me, it’s the fact that Mikayla not only didn’t apologize, but trolled everyone at the beginning of the video by saying “I think we all know why we’ve gathered here today.” She’s making a joke out of lying to her audience, that’s how ignorant she thinks they are. It shows how much she doesn’t care, they’re a blank check to her. It’s offensive and I’m not sure why people aren’t taking it like that.
In order to be a good liar, you need to have a good memory to keep up with your lies. It seems like she doesn't have a very good memory or she just doesn't care.

Now that she’s blown up the fame, money and designer bags have gotten to her head. Hence, her desire to look like Jaclyn hill, decorate her home like jaclyn hill, 12 days of Xmas giveaway like jaclyn hill, and the icing on the cake, getting exposed for the hate comments on jaclyn hills IG. The whole thing is weird. I highly doubt Mikayla is who she says she is.

Some people don't realize it's not just "mascara", it's the action and in the end it is false advertisement. Influencers will promote many things, just remember Sugar Bear Hair and the detox tea everyone promoted back in 2016-2018 when Instagram was THE social media, what if influencers did the same thing as Mikayla but with a product that could actually affect your health?!

I think it is, she sets up and sits down to film it, but then can't produce any tears.. So she holds out on her emotions until she's able to film herself? She definitely doesn't act genuine at all.
I’m an INFJ and we’re known as empaths. That being said, I can tell when someone’s emotions/feelings are genuine because I’d be able to feel it. With Mikayla, I don’t feel a thing when she cries. If anything, I’m annoyed because people don’t see that it’s an act.
If watching her being emotional doesn't in any way make you emotional, it's a good bet that she's putting it on. We may not be aware of our reactions, but true emotions will for most people evoke a natural empathetic response. All I felt was a slight second hand embarrassment.
I know brands lie in ads in all but the part that’s even more jarring than the falsies is the fact that she thought her fans or consumers were completely stupid and idiotic enough to see it

See and this is why it matters that these influencers are honest/forthcoming because now I see all these other "vulnerable" videos she has posted and I can't help but doubt her now! Like once someone breaches their audience's trust, it has a ripple effect to every statement they have said. It's like I see her content through a hyper-critical lens now and it's just not coming off as sincere.

Her fans celebrating her being unbothered is disappointing. Idk they can just go directly to the brand and praise their campaign videos, it's the same thing at this point. Worst part is that she could've easily weaseled out of the drama (accidentally cut out the part where she mentions the lashes, got too excited about the brand deal so she wanted it to look extra awesome, etc), so she's not even a smart liar 🥴
What bothers me about the whole mascara thing is that being an influencer became a legitimate job bc these ppl were seen as genuine. It’s a profession that’s literally a response to brands being untrustworthy. So when ppl say “all brands lie what’s the big deal??” I don’t think they realize the implications it has on the industry. As soon as all influencers are seen as just untrustworthy as big brands there is no longer a benefit for companies to work with them. The profession as a whole will literally disappear. That’s why this shit should matter🤷🏻♀️
Honestly, i know your 'bruises' are from glasses but as an acne-prone girl it feels so refreshing to see someone with redness, therefore normalizing it, it feels so comfortable and 'unique' in the world of social media, which shouldn't be seen as something 'brave' because that's REAL SKIN! It's a good lesson in typically people are truly never cancelled. They always come back around, eventually. So, unfortunately if you don't like certain creators you're just going to have to not put your dollar behind them or your views behind them. That's literally all you can do. I think people should also be given a chance to grow through their mistakes if they didn't k!ll someone or commit any action that can truly not be corrected or forgiven. 🤷🏼♀️

I know you were asking her but personally I always wash them right after using. Liquid foundation will dry and harden the sponge so I’d recommend always washing after you’re done.

When the accent thing happened I could hone at my believe her because I had a similar experience. I have a relatively thick southern accent that I’ve had since I could talk. I have also always wanted a career in academia. I was told when I was little that no matter how smart I was people wouldn’t take me seriously because of my southern belle voice. So from a young age I worked to change my accent, but when I’m really excited or upset or really if I feel any emotion in excess my accent gets thicker again.
