      One strange thing is that I've taught martial arts up here and have done business up here but socially speaking, it can be tough. I'm used to a very different social energy. I still haven't made any real social context up here, outside of my martial arts business other business Pursuits. I return to Philadelphia soon I came here to heal from cancer. I did get to know the area and it is quite beautiful but unfortunately, recovering from the pandemic made it tough to meet people. I love the area and I will still continue to travel here quite often, but yeah, it would have been nice to have gotten to know a few people socially. Never really happened. I have a lot of people that like me from when I'm running around doing errands and such but not really one close new friend. I'm quite popular in Philadelphia so I'll get back to my Social Circles but I would have liked to have had that experience here.

      @RedHatGila, I am not supposed to talk about safety as a real estate agent, but you can look up many crime statistics which indicate that compared to many other major cities Boston is not that bad. That's all I can say. I don't feel unsafe walking in the street, which I cannot say about many cities.

    A B- for schools? Residents will tell you Salem schools are bad, it wasn't until 6 or so years ago that a good charter high school appeared, but good luck winning the lottery to go there, it is small. Some elementary schools were so bad, the state had to allocate more funding. So if you have family, you know a 214 ranking in the state is bad.

  • @rank1839

    I’m from Salem. It’s way too crowded. Traffic is all year long, it’s just extremely congested in the fall. The housing costs are through through the roof. Its run down and people are living on top of each other. It’s ridiculous on what you have to spend to what you get as far as housing is concerned. There’s a good amount of crime too. In short, in my opinion, Salem sucks. There’s much better places to live.

    Be thankful for tourists, equals money, do you want to be Lynn? Nobody wants to go there. Lol 😆 Salem has so much!

    • @therhymeofbadilia3204
      @therhymeofbadilia3204 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The money doesn't "trickle" down to the residents, unfortunately. What we find is higher property taxes, less parking spaces, more traffic, and some really crazy people that think they are in a theme park when they come in. They are disrespectful of private property, walk on the street in bands as if all streets in Salem are a boardwalk, they throw garbage every where, and illigally park on residential streets with no regard. Not to mention our police is strained during those peek months, so good luck trying to find someone to respond in a timely manner to a non urgent issue. Our officers are great, but they can hardly keep up, humm where is that tourism money where it's needed.... The only ones profiting from tourism is the city and the businesses downtown. The rest of us get to enjoy the CONS.

    • @TheCoffeeTime4
      @TheCoffeeTime4 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@therhymeofbadilia3204 Imagine how much the taxes would be without the revenue. Things have changed since I went up there, one of the churches and the rectory was turned into fancy apartments that was designed to lure people away from Boston. I knew a person in Salem that said that city is trying to turn Salem into North Boston.

  • @CommomsenseSmith
    @CommomsenseSmith 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Traffic is bad in Salem because our radical mayor thinks bike lanes are the answer when you literally see maybe 1 or 2 bikes a day in downtown using the lanes because they don’t. We thrive off of a negative incidence where innocent people died because of a witch hunt.. sounds like what’s going on today….for someone who has lived in this area forever I see less and less appreciation for people who have been born and raised. We have attracted to cancel culture and its toxic. I would not suggest living in Salem if you like quiet or no traffic.

    • @BostonAreaHomes
      @BostonAreaHomes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment, @Commomsense1234 Smith, yes, I hope the viewers got that impression. It's an exciting city and many people want to be part of the excitement but some others do not. I think they will realize it soon enough if Salem is for them

    • @FeralFelineFriend
      @FeralFelineFriend 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You think cancel culture is bad, try living in place where someone will shoot you for no absolute reason! I live in a trailer park in Michigan where you got some drunk a hole, shooting at the cats outside because the area used to be farmland and they had barn cats that eventually became feral.
      People are so stupid in my area because they forgot that the suburbs was literally a forest like half a decade ago, those animals have no where to go. Traffic is normal for us since the concrete can't handle the shifting marshlands underneath and mantaining it costs money that no one wants to spend!
      Get over yourself, at least you don't have to worry about getting shot by a neighbor!

    • @CommomsenseSmith
      @CommomsenseSmith 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FeralFelineFriend we definitely have to worry about that. Several years back a bank robbery suspect decided to shoot at police and break into a house down the street and hold the family hostage for several hours. Then two streets over a gang member “sent a message” to someone who they didn’t like shooting him in the foot. So we are not immune to that just because I complain about bike lanes. I think our tax money could go to more constructive things like policing. Maybe you should get your own firearm.

    • @Tamesis66
      @Tamesis66 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FeralFelineFriend The crime in Salem is on the rise. There's constant criminal activity in "The Point", you cannot walk down the street in that neighborhood without getting harassed. Recently several mailboxes were broken into and mail stolen by thieves looking for checks. And because of the traffic, there's always accidents. One on Highland Ave the other day took the lives of 2 people.
