Omg, I been to Vn at least 15 times in the past 10yrs but never did the loop. Heard about it and I am all pumped to do the loop in Oct22 when I travel to Vn . That was an amazing content but scary too watching you ride on the 1 meter broad roads. What a cracker of a video Paddy take care and stay safe till we meet for a beer somewhere in the great outdoors hope soon.

I've been always saying that Vietnam is the most beautiful country when you looking for distance views, when you Ha Giang loop or the last part of road (Saigon-Dalat) but from the close distance it's completely dirty and all the magic disappears. Any national park in Poland of example will beat close distance nature in Vietnam. Long distance views in Vietnam = nr. 1. Short distance views in Vietnam = not even close to nice

As long as Vietnam is still ruled by the oppressive and exploitive Communist regime, her potential remains greatly diminished. For any 1% that wants to stay, 99% of the population wants to get out, and many have risked their lives doing just that (for example, 39 doomed lives found in UK container truck recently on the news, and that's only what's been reported), unfortunately. Yet another shocking and also recent example is that during the Covid pandemic when almost all countries assisted their citizens with financial aids in one form or another, the corrupt and murderous Vietnamese Commie regime saw it just another opportunity not to help but to exploit its ruled citizens even more, essentially making money over the corpses of its citizens by presumably killing at least 30K of them, due to misdiagnosis and being and cramped into barbwired unhygenic living quarters for isolations, so that they had to sleep on the concrete floors, with inadequate food, water, or medicine, like animals, with the fake nostril Covid test kits, mislabeled as approved by World Health Organization (WHO) in Việt Á scandal, colluded by at least 4 different government agencies (Y Tế , Khoa Học, Công Nghệ, Quân y) and the top Politburo members, including Nguyễn Phú Trọng, Phạm Minh Chính, Nguyễn Xuân Phúc. Murderous Vietnamese Commie regime even had a thug murdered Christian pastor Giuse Trần Ngọc Thanh, like it has done with many other pastors across the nation. There is a reason why the current Commie Vietnam ranks at the bottom of the world in freedom of speech and freedom of the press, barely above Commie China and Commie North Korea. Similarly, its passport ranks at the bottom, 89th out of 111 countries for a reason, barely above North Koea 104th rank. even below many African nations. For comparison, South Korea 2nd rank. That's what Republic of South Vietnam would have likely been ranked among at least the top 10 had it not been invaded and occupied by the North Vietnamese Commie terrorists, aided by Commie Soviet and Commie China.
Travelers to Vietnam in her current form (not at all like this before the Communists took over) should keep this in mind. Behind the beauty of the land and smiling faces at popular tourist destinations, there are a lot of darkness and sorrow, horror, and sufferings all over the country.

You are really the "master" of vlogging. I love this video, and you really gave me the feeling of riding along. You are right, compared to Thailand (and I just visited Phu Chi Fa because of you) this is really next level. I watch many content creators and think: How come they have so many subscribers? If someone deserves to have lots of subscribers and to be watched, it is you! I hope your channel gets much, much bigger, and I hope you stay grounded! Your authenticity is what I love! Ha Giang Loop, Ninh Binh, and Hai Van Pass are next, but don't forget Son Doong Cave - Vietnam's largest cave on the planet earth. It's large enough to house an entire New York City block, complete with 40 story skyscrapers. It's said, less people have seen the inside of Son Doong Cave in Vietnam than have stood on the summit of Mount Everest.

Comparing travelling destinations we can boil down to 2 main aspect: the core value - the scene, the place itself and the conditions in between
      - in Vietnam it's 10 in core value & 5 in conditions. I mean you get those magnificent landscape but you'll have to deal with harsh conditions, resulting in a tiring yet joyful moments
      - in Thailand it's 8 in core value & 8 in conditions, things are not as grand but the total conditions are way more better, resulting in an overall satisfied moments

Had the good fortune to travel through northern Vietnam back in 2018 and i have to attest to many of your observations and comments Paddy. As great as Ha Giang Loop is, there are even grander and better scenes to behold by deviating from it. We did a lot of them and found ourselves confronted with stunningly epic and spectacular sceneries and locations that back then, and quite probably even today, very few tourists had traversed. The one thing that struck me, no matter how out of the way we were located, we never lost mobile phone coverage...never! With the terrain and topography that is northern Vietnam, that was just unbelievable in itself (not that we wanted the coverage but it did give us comms if we ever found ourselves needing some back up...which we didn't because the locals were always wanting to engage with smiles and friendliness). You are re-igniting fond memories Paddy.

There is a reason why Commie Vietnam is ranked near the bottom in freedom of speech and freedom of the press index, along with fellow Commie China and North Korea. The terrorism comes from the regime itself which routinely kills dissidents at police stations and in jails mostly without even using guns. Travelers to Vietnam in her current form (not at all like this before the Communists took over) should keep this in mind. First I just want to say Im so grateful for the footage and narrative of yours, well done and these truly do the Vietnam landscape justice. 👍
To really absorb the full scale of the majestic Ha Giang in particular and the northern uplands in general, you would usually have to visit the place several times during the year in different seasons, February - March for festivities of local tribes and gorgeous peach blossoms dotting the valleys and paddy fields; summer time May - July for beautiful lush green as captured in the video and we locals called this period "the season of the falling water" when farmers start to plant rice, the fields are like giant mirrors reflecting into the sky; August-September the harvesting season when everything turns golden, pre-winter time October - November for the buckwheat flower season. Before you go, you should search for specific areas because Ha Giang is vast, and this video only captures a part of it. Some people love to enjoy the flower season, they would have to go to the right location to see it. When I watched this episode, so many great memories flooded back. I remembered staying at Hoang Su Phi for almost a month with a local family for a research study and every morning being able to wake up and take in the view was just mind-blowing. Ha Giang and the northern uplands are not only beautiful when you look at it, but when you stay a little longer, you can feel the depth and rigor in the culture and lives of people.
P/s: the series has been amazing and what a rare find, already subscribed!

Brings back ace memories of the Ma Pi Leng Pass and also the 15 turn pass, which i used to ride up every day as i know the owner of the coffee shop at the top as he owns a homestay in Bao Lac. This section of the Ha Giang Loop is the best bit. Dong Van to Meo Vac truly is spectacular on a grand scale and there's some even more epic twisty windy tracks that go right down to the river. It looks like spaghetti on the map. And once again, i've never seen drone footage of this region. I'm glad i discovered your channel. I've lived in Vietnam for 4 years and ridden my bike for months at a time round the north, on my own and on a show string budget (some hostels for $1 a night!) with nothing more than a phone and a sense of adventure.

You did and incredible job of your Thailand videos (we haven't seen them all yet) but Vietnam are really "Next Level". You talk about wanting to bring us along, as a passenger so to speak, on your trips and you have succeeded masterfully in doing that!!! My heart rate went up on this video as you drove Dreamy 2 along what most people would consider to be walking paths, 1000s of feet up, with no guard rails. I drive a Honda Gold Wing and what you are doing on Dreamy 2 is amazing. Of course you have 1000s of kilometers/miles of experience but still, I neatly shat my pants a few times. Keep it up.
