Today we are experiencing a 2 day 1 night luxury cruise around Halong Bay, one of the most famous natural wonders of the world. Set a few kms out to sea not far from Hanoi in Northern Vietnam, Halong Bay boasts thousands of limestone islands that create a gorgeous labyrinth.
This area of Vietnam is NOT cheap however and to really absorb the surroundings it is advised to try a overnight cruise and that is exactly what we are doing in today's adventure.
This series was filmed in June 2022 ✌️🇻🇳✌️

Halong Bay is one of those 'once in a lifetime' type of places so if you ask me, yeah... it was worth $300 and I would recommend it. What do you think? Let me know in the comments and I'll see you in 3 days from Cat Ba Island 🇻🇳✌🇻🇳

I did a cruise with Indochina junks and they they have various size ships one can go on, but the price is lower and have more days out there in the bay. I think I did the 4 day 3 nights trip.

Nice. The thing is, I think you should interact more with the locals. Granted they are a bit more reserved up north, but as you head south please consider it OK? Great video!

@@tomdiesen4767 if you ask a north vietnamese living in saigon, they will tell you people living in the south are far more friendly. Never been to the north but get the same vibes and of course I will still travel there. Vietnam is an amazing adventure 👍

I'd want my booze to be both plentiful and free at that price point although I'm willing to entertain the idea that you may have gotten a, how shall we say it, 'not so good' deal because it was last minute.
It DID look beautiful and I can easily imagine how you felt it was worth every penny but it IS a very high price point for one night in Vietnam. I've stayed on full on cruise ships on the highest of the top end scale and not paid anything like that.
That said I think you made the most of it just by relaxing on the boat and if i'd had the punishing schedule you've had these last few weeks i'd be doing exactly the same thing

Tasmanian Seafood Seduction Cruise is AUD700/person for 7.5hours. Bruny Island Cruise is AUD175/person for 3 hours. Both are neither World Heritage nor New 7 Wonders of Nature. Therefore, the deal I think is worth AUD3000!

I went on this exact boat. First off, the crew were absolutely amazing and friendly. Me and my girlfriend are only 19 and definitely not rich or sophisticated (had to save up for ages to do this), but we both felt super welcome regardless. Also the other passengers were all super chill and down to earth too. The best part was when a big chunk of us all randomly decided to have drinks on the roof at 11pm even though we were complete strangers to each other.
So if you’re not the fancy type and just wanna have a good time, this company is my recommendation for sure. It’s luxurious and classy of course, but you don’t feel like you need to act classy.
    Also great vid 🔥

Hey Paddy, I did this back in 2013 but took the basic backpacker cruise for about US$125 which at the time was weaker than the Aussie $. Also included was my own little shoebox room (which I paid a few dollars more), transportation to & from Hanoi, and basic but tasty food. Also got beers from the little dingys that locals would quietly sneak up to the cruise boat and sell for a fraction of what was sold for on board. Not permitted of course but a blind eye was performed by the crew. Well worth it for those on a budget & the kayaking & caving are highly recommended to any readers. However having done all that my next visit there will be in more the luxury class that you've undertaken now and does appear value for money even if the Aus$ is now in the US0.65c range now. Currency fluctuations should always be factored in. Cheers, John

Awesome video! Glad to see it is possible to have a really good experience at Halong bay. Pre-Covid I did a 3 day cruise that was really expensive. Food was awesome and rooms were decent. But, they constantly forced us off the boat so they could go back to the docks to either drop off or pick up new people. We just wanted to chill like you did and they wouldnt let us. Some times we were stuck on small islands for hours waiting for a boat to come get us. The other thing that was really heartbreaking was how much garbage all the cruises were dumping into the ocean. There was floating garbage everywhere. But in your video it actually looks clean like they have done something about it...

    • @Hungdd99
      @Hungdd99 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Garbage can come from rivers or other seas (quite difficult to control). As for me, it's a bit hard to believe when garbage is thrown from tourists (they have the conditions to come to Ha Long at least they are educated) or service people there because if they are, they are throwing garbage. in their bowl of rice.

Another incredibly high quality video, which has got my memory cells going crazy, thinking of my own trip to Ha Long Bay, a few years back. Thanks again for spoiling us viewers, so badly!! With you all the way mate, take care until next time. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

That's the way for a biker adventurer to de-stress. just chill and do nothing but eat, rest and drink. My favourite is seeing the buffet table after a full day too. I ride a small 125 Honda like yours Paddy. 👍

Did the daytrip from Hanoi, bus and upgraded boat with nice set lunch. Did the kayaking, gruelling hike up one of the cliffs and the massive cave. Your boat is pure luxury. Mine was maybe $100 per person. Overcast and cool in January.

Me and 4 buddies did the same cruise March this year. Same company, orchid cruise. The captain went by the name 'happy'. Very infectious jolly fellow. Time well spent. Everything was beautiful... hope you had a great time. We did it quite cheap though... $300 was almost the whole package for five of us for two nights cruise... we had a steal I guess...😄

We have been on similar Halong cruises over the years and all offered great experiences. The luxury cruises truly offer a chance to enjoy the beautiful sceneries of Halong bay in super comfort with wonderful food. You can get similar experience whether it's $100 or $300 a day, including the hotel pick up and drop off from Hanoi. Splurge yourselves for a day and a half in one of the most beautiful spots of the world: Ha Long Bay.

Love that magical place, Paddy! I think I would have joined you to just sit and watch the world go by (maybe leaving plenty of personal space for both of us at the other end of the boat :)! Nice Video and I loved the pace of it. Quiet and peaceful. I was surprised at how many cruise ships were there. I hope they do not damage the delicate ecology of the place. There are few places like it in the world. My understanding is that it was the inspiration for the film sequences where the indigenous people of the planet would go to catch their personal flying dragon to link with once they reached a certain age in the James Cameron movie "Avatar". Safe travels my friend and looking forward as always to the next episode!
