    Ostuni-Gallipoli-Monopoli-Polignano a Mare-Fasano-Lecce-Brindisi is my favourite triangle in puglia. Beautiful beaches, great food and drinks all provided by people that know how to live very close to heaven, while still connected to their home soil.

    Wow you have cool firends! I love Orecchiette con Cime di Rapa! I guess I didn't realize it was from Puglia. Unfortunately, my family finds Rabe too bitter so I have to tone it down a bit. Pasticciotto sounds pretty awesome. I had croissants with pastry cream in Milan which I loved so I think these would be right up my ally! I am going to have to investigate these pasticciotti. Thanks for the video!!!

      Hi! Thanks for watching :) And I’m glad you love orecchiette con cime di rapa, too! It’s a game changer ... it’s definitely going to be a staple in my kitchen, and I feel so lucky to have all the ingredients at my fingertips! And yes, you’d love pasticciotto!!

    Hi Katie, my wife and I are American, moved to the UK in 2006, and now have dual UK/US citizenship. Living in the UK allowed us to travel around Europe which we love, but Italy captured our heart and our plan is to eventually retire there. However, my job allows me to work from anywhere with Internet access so we are planning to start renting an apartment in Italy next year and try different locations year after year until to find the place we absolutely fall in love with and then look to purchase a property. Thanks to BREXIT we can no longer stay in Italy more than 90 out of 180 days, but our children and grandchildren are in the UK so we will continue to rent a place here and travel back and forth.
    We are looking at Salento, Apulia, and most likely Lecce for our 1st apartment, then work our way up the Adriatic coast.
    It would be great to be in touch as we go along, and right now I curious about Trani. Why did you choose Trani and how does it compare to Brindisi or Monopoli? This is the area we are looking to for the next rental, and I’m curious on your thoughts about this region of Apulia. Thanks! Dave

    • @TheQKatie
      @TheQKatie  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dave! Allora, why did Brexit have to ruin those totally dreamy plans?! We moved here from London and we love the UK. In our dreams we'll have US/Italy/UK citizenship! We chose Trani because this is where my lawyer said I had the highest chance of getting Italian citizenship (through ancestors) fastest! And we love it here. I do love Lecce though! Hard to say where we'd be if we didn't have the "reason" to come to Trani. Puglia is amazing, no doubt about it!

    • @davebanko4759
      @davebanko4759 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheQKatie Thanks for responding! Unless I get a really good early retirement package, I have at least 10-15 years to work yet before I can retire. The close proximity between the UK and Italy means going back and forth every 4-6 weeks (to ensure we don't exceed the 90 out of 180 day rule) is reasonable and we can afford to maintain a 1-2 bedroom apartment in Italy while sharing the rent of our house in the UK with our daughter, her partner and our grandchildren. This will give us plenty of time to explore to find the location we absolutely love or an opportunity we can't pass up.
      Neither of us have Italian heritage, so the hope is eventually to apply for a retirement visa to stay long term.
      Though we believe we'd be happy almost anywhere in Italy, we are focused on Apulia, Abruzzo and Le Marche for the weather, beaches, lower cost of living than Northern Italy and flatter terrain. (My wife doesn't do well on hills. We spent time in Umbria for our 25th Anniversary, and while beautiful, she had a hard time with the hills.) Hence the reason for starting with the Salento peninsula and working our way North.
      I'd like to keep in touch, you can reach me at david.e.banko gmail.com.

    Love your videos! Could you give us some idea of the cost of living in Puglia and if it is possible for an American to buy a house there? I have loved Italy all my life and hope to retire there. (Hopefully this pandemic won't last too long......) How do the people of Puglia feel about foreigners moving into their neighborhoods to stay, maybe indefinitely?
