I'm 61 years old and have not played the drums for 40 years. I never took lessions and was in a band for a couple years. I wound up with problems with my arms and hands so I couldn't hang onto the sticks.Have had operations on them and they are good now, but until I saw your video I had no intrest in playing. I want to go back to playing them now. You put so much into it showing you love playing. Now if I can remember how. Looking for a set of electric one now. They are so much better then acoustic you dont have to keep tuning them when you unpack them for a gig,the weather affects them too much. Tkanks for the enjoyment and keep on posting videos.

Living in apartments and never being taught how to tune an acoustic kit is what put me off them.
I was sick of listening to beautiful sounding drums on million dollar albums and then sitting down at my pearl export kit and it sounding like I was hitting a garbage can with a hammer.
Electric kit? Buy one...buy one...BUY ONE! DO IT.
All the juice and excitement will come flowing back the second you sit down at that drum stool.
You can plug an ipod directly into them and have the sound of the kit lined up perfectly.
Delighted that the hands are fixed, you've been given a second chance to rock again!
Time to get back on the saddle and GOOD LUCK!!!
I am going to start out with a used Roland TD-4. I can ge it for $450.00. Don't want to spend big bucks if I cant play. Wont have all the bells and whistles but no need for them at the moment. Will let you know how many times I throw my sticks across the room,LOL. Thank you for the come back.

HEY BUDDY I bought a nice set of electronic ones---keeps the neighbors happy and the wife or girlfriend too...got a great cheap set starter from american musical supply...and get this...the take payments not to drain the wallet...just for your info...im not affiliated with them...just found they are pretty good to work with ya....

I normally don't prefer electronic drums because the absence of natural vibration, but this sounds great.
I fell in love with that song's energy when I was 20-21 years old, aside from the vocals of Mickey Thomas /Grace Slick the drums were a big factor in that energy. You recreated it very well.

The music from the 80's is just the best. Likes your attitude to the music and empathy while playing. Personally, I'm just a beginner and have acquired an exercise plate and then switch to the real drum kit that is unpacked. V-drums forever !!!
My story is much the same as the FIre Fighter below. I started playing the drums at the age of 8. My older brother who was 14 played and it just seemed to come naturally. I played in bands all through high school but then laid my sticks aside to pursue other adventures (marriage, children, career). I was injured four years ago, and a herniated disc at C-2 left me with pain in the left shoulder, and loss of feeling all the way down the left arm and hand. I was losing the ability to hold on to things, button my shirt. I am 58 years old and I live in an apartment. I have never played an electric drum kit. I have heard and seen you playing the Roland TD - 12 kit and it sounds awesome. I told the doctor that I want to do everything I can to keep or regain the use of my left arm and hand. I mentioned my plan to resume playing the drums and he thought it was an awesome idea. The exercises they gave me use the same parts of the muscles, and this will be way more fun!
I will know that I have arrived when, like yourself, I am making TH-cam videos with friends to stop to see me while I am playing. I am glad you kept going. This is one of my favorite songs from the 80's and even though the song is about love, the motivation and determination of the song gives me the inspiration needed to believe that I can do this. I was pretty good back in the day. I am looking into the Roland kits, they have a good reputation and sound quality. Perhaps you can give me some pointers about what the investment in a kit similar to your own would be. I was playing around with some o your drum covers and several from others who do covers. Some of these younger people are really talented. Seeing kids 4, 5,6 years old playing to BON JOVI or VAN HALEN is awesome. People such as Cooper, and the Matt Mcguire guy (who went on tour recently with the Chainsmokers) is just incredible. You have a great balance and do not overpower the song.
