just bought the 2018 Calais Tourer with only 36k kms on it..took it for a decent Test Drive & it impressed me. I wanted a decent wagon so can give my Volvo S80 V8 a rest, plus it's going to be my Bed when I go to my block in South East Gippsland 👌 brilliant size with the seats down. Plenty of grunt, comfy as.. looking forward to clocking some kms up.
How are you finding servicing costs compared to other cars you've owned? I'm considering one, but we keep cars for 10+ years so my only concern is parts availability as it ages....
Big boot underrated is right! I swapped my outback for my sisters impreza hatch for a week and I didn’t realise putting things in the boot required that much thinking!
‘But you won’t mind getting a bit of European styling in the design’... what are you talking about the entire car, chassis, platform, and country it’s built in is different 😂
Absolute crap, it's the smallest ever commodore boot space, equiv to the equinox and she is raving about the size? Yeah, not paid by holden to help try and help floundering sales. seems legit
Ride is much firmer in this than the VF Calais, and road noise slightly higher. Overall body control and handling is way better in this though and the twinster rear diff is pretty impressive (same unit as used in Focus RS)
Holden picked up where they left off with another dull car. There was nothing in the review that made it stand out. Everything seems to be same old cheap and nasty. Good review. But would I part with 50k for one. Meh.
Just wondering, why do you think a car with a largish V6 will be necessarily noisy? Been in plenty of cars with large engines that are barely audible... were you just referring to engine noise or was it also wind and road contributing? (have Holden resolved the squeaking/rattling interior trim that plagued the initial press cars?). Be genuinely interested in what economy you actually achieved running the car around Sydney for a week, I’m guessing a fair bit higher than 9.1 L/100?
All Commodores in recent times have squeaked and rattled. At least you had collapsing headlining coming down around your ears and lotsa failing electrics to take your mind off of it LOL.
If you pause at 3:04 you'll see trip computer says 1157km at an average of 13.1L/100km, which is what I get urban cycle from my 2003 3.5V6 Magna!!! I'm lucky I don't do many kms a year in it
@@billybob1511 are you sure? Gls n rs6 yes since it's registered as a wagon. This along with Subaru outback are classed as pvf n can't be used in leading zone. Shows how RMS OF NSW is so out of touch.
Finally a good review that considers the car on its own merits. Well done.
It’s nice because it’s an Opel

Good review. The imported Opal range is totally under rated starting with the holden ( opal ) astra..
@Murray Sumpter : obviously you think it’s a real ‘gem’ of a brand
@@rotoehu9266 Love the pun 😂😂
Im sad Holden not in Australia cause I'm in Australia
Smoking good looking...the car too! We have the Buick Regal TourX in the states and really like it.

Car buyer logic hatchback no for family same car 5k more expensive and slightly taller yes gimme dat
Should have been popular in country areas... The cars killed by bogans... If they got a twin turbo would have been popular...
Beautiful vehicle...I hardly ever see our version on the road over here....I see tons of them on the lots tho.
You forgot to mention your husband is 1.85m
Yep if your over that height you won't fit
"They don't like wagons as much as SUVs". So it's the kids that responsible for the demise of this final generation Commodore.

Astra XXL. No thanks.
Oh no.... Take exhaust pipes
Interesting...

Just wondering what the ride is like and sound insulation compared too the previous Callais ?
Poor.

Based on the Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer
No the Vauxhall is based off the Holden
Lets say... Opel that's what it is

Good review but the music was a bit dour.
wicky wicky
That's a nice Opel Insignia you got there... oh wait
9.1L/100k that good i have mitsubishi Lancer 1.8L auto do 10L/100km so be happy don't forget big motor ok .
Trip computer in this review showed 1100km at 13L/100km
Hate these things in my rear view for my kiwis
Good review, but still won’t buy it as it will discontinue after this generation, and the quality of Opel is rubbish.
Its an opel

Sounds great, its loud, has a poor turning circle and has high fuel consumption due to its ability to drive up hills easily, love it :-)
Can you pls do the New SsangYong Rexton Ultimate? Thanks
I hate that Grey plastic trim on the exterior - it’ll go mouldy after a year or two discouloured and tacky. 💋💋💋
Callum Balodis wat?
It's not AWD, it's FWD biased with rears kicking in when the front wheels slip. AWD implies it's a constant system which this isn't.
Mate, it's a bloody AWD. If it uses an AWD system, it's an AWD. Don't argue.
It drives all 4 wheels which means it's awd idiot, the r32 gtr has a rwd bias but does that make it rwd?, no of course not
Expensive to service and maintain.
Good riding to the imposter………..never a commodore.
Trying to polish a turd?
It was never a turd in the first place.
